Melanie Fiona Says Her Mixed Heritage Helped Hair Growth
The subject of hair in the black community is a touchy one.
And singer Melanie Fiona, who many expect nothing but good from, got on the bad side of many women with a recent comment she made about her hair.
In an interview with Sophisticate’s Black Hair Styles and Care Guide, Fiona said, “I was born with a full head of hair, and my mom wouldn’t let me cut it until I was 12! I’m mixed — my mom is Black and Portuguese and my dad is Indian so I have a good mix for growth.”
The comment sparked outrage from many of her fans.
