Michelle Obama Announces New Cooking Show On Netflix

Michelle Obama is getting her own cooking show on Netflix!

The streaming platform and the former first lady announced that she will be starring and executive producing her own cooking show for kids called “Waffles + Mochi.”

CNN reports that the new show, arriving on March 16, will be feature two puppet co-hosts named Waffles and Mochi while Mrs. Obama will play a supermarket owner as the show follows the three on their journey to become chefs.

Previously, BLACK ENTERPRISE reported that Barack and Michelle had signed a lucrative deal with the streaming giant to produce their own content through their production company, Higher Ground Productions. The Obamas will also be collaborating with Partnership for a Healthier America through their company to help to deliver fresh ingredients to families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former FLOTUS shared the news on her Instagram page about her new show. “I’m so excited to finally be able to tell you all about it. Allow me to introduce two new friends of mine,” she wrote in the caption. “Their names are Waffles and Mochi. And on March 16, we’ll be launching a new children’s show on @Netflix called Waffles + Mochi. It’s all about good food: discovering it, cooking it, and of course, eating it. These two will take us on adventures all around the world to explore new ingredients and try out new recipes. Kids will love it, but I know that adults will also get plenty of laughs—and some tips for the kitchen.”
