Driven by the idea of a “community first” mentality, Saunders is very clear about his passions and intentions in the field of technology. “At a very young age, I developed a fascination for technology and innovation. I was that adolescent that always had to have the latest gadget in the market,” he tells BE Modern Man. “This passion led me to pursue my Master’s degree at Georgetown University.”
Afforded opportunities that most would envy, Jasper is adamant on leading the charge adding “Professionally, I have the rewarding opportunity to lead IBM’s cloud technologies as the newly established chair of the IBM Marketing Cloud Advisory Board (Higher Ed). I lead the nation’s leading tech company and education experts while optimizing collaborative efforts in the education aspects of marketing, communications and information technology with the goal of leveraging expertise to make a difference on campuses around the globe while sharing ideas and best practices across the nations leading campuses,” he tells BE Modern Man. As he continues, “In addition, I was recognized as the nominee recipient of the World Technology Award at the 2015 World Technology Summit in association with IBM Watson. Past Winners include Nick Woodman, CEO of GoPro, Inc., Elon Musk, CEO and product architect of Tesla Motors, Inc., Krista Canfield, Head of Mobile Product, LinkedIn and more. The fact that industry experts noticed my accomplishments is something I will never forget and will continue to push me to achieve even greater.”
In an environment that tends to see fewer people color, Saunders believes his placement in the tech ecosystem can break the mold and make an impact amongst his peers. “I bring experience as a Fortune 100 Technology Business Professional with over a decade of proven success accountable for leading the ‘big idea’ development, technical execution management of innovative, results-oriented award-winning campaigns. With experience in the largest Broadcasting Media Company in the United States, NBC Universal and senior level management at one of the countries most prestigious establishments for higher education at Georgetown University.
As one of the top black innovators in the technology field, Saunders considers this an honor and privilege and acknowledges those that paved for his many successes. “Being recognized as a BEMM 100 Men of Distinction is a tremendous achievement and I’m honored to be on the list with men of such esteem. Many in our communities are familiar with LeBron James or Cam Newton but I hope that names like John Thompson CEO of Virtual Instrument and Chairman, Microsoft or Erin Teague, Director of product management, Yahoo will be come more popular to youth in the future,” he tells BE Modern Man.
Also Saunders hope his testimonial will inspire others to come forward and share their stories. “I hope this exposure and my personal narrative is one that inspires others to strive for greater and be better than they ever imagined. I believe all things are possible and once you truly believe that in your heart, nothing can stop you.”
