On the Move: Former BuzzFeed Executive, Frank Cooper, Named CMO of Black Rock

After 18 months strategizing and advising at leading digital media company, BuzzFeed, it has been announced that proven Chief Marketing Officer Frank Cooper III will be taking his expertise to the world’s largest money manager, Black Rock.

Starting January 2017, Cooper will be reporting to Black Rock’s Chief Executive Laurence Fink, where he will be leading a marketing team that will focus on analytics, research, branding, and digital marketing. According to The Wall Street Journal, Fink highlighted Cooper’s experience in an internal memo stating that Cooper uses “new marketing technologies to help organizations–from global consumer companies to technology startups–to drive growth.”

Prior to his role as chief marketing officer and chief creative officer at BuzzFeed, Cooper served as the chief marketing officer, Global Consumer Engagement for PepsiCo. Before taking on his role CMO for the prominent beverage company, Cooper served as vice president of Marketing for the company,  having transitioned from vice president, Interactive Marketing for AOL.

Early in his career, Cooper utilized his proficiency in the music industry as a senior vice president, Business Affairs with Def Jam Recordings, and senior executive with Tommy Boy Music.

Cooper is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a BS in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate in Constitutional Law from Harvard Law School.
