[RECAP] Oprah’s ‘The Life You Want Weekend’ in Washington, D.C.

Now is the time to escalate your passion, purpose, vision, and mission. The key to truly understanding how to make this possible is to realize that you are co-creating your life — don’t just passively go through the motions.

“Take your glory and run with it so you can do what you came here to do.”

Oprah Winfrey, “the queen of all media” has embarked on an eight-city arena tour and transformational weekend with a team of special guests, sponsored by Olay and Toyota, that brings her personal story and insights to life in a truly intimate setting.

We are all aware of Winfrey’s unprecedented career achievements and highlights as a media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, but it is her uncanny ability to be of service to people across the globe that makes her so powerful.

The elegant, witty businesswoman gracefully took the stage on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, during the Washington, D.C., stop of “Oprah’s The Life You Want Weekend” and shared her insights on creating your life, fulfilling your greatest potential, and advice to take your life and career to the highest level.

1. Honor your calling

Honor your calling. That feeling and voice that you have inside yourself is important and you have to listen to it. We talk about living in our purpose and we automatically think that it means doing this astronomical thing. Purpose doesn’t have to be huge. The ordinary little pieces of your everyday life are creating the purpose for your life, and this purpose is your defining thread that connects the dots of your life.

“I am the master of my fate, the captain of my soul.”

Listen when your life is trying to speak to you. Oftentimes when things are going wrong it’s the universe trying to push you in another direction. Pay attention. Everyone has his own thread or calling, and it’s your job to pay attention to your calling and flow with it. Pay attention to it, know it, and share it. Nothing you came here to do was meant to be kept with you. Your life is validated through your service to others.

“All of us have a story and it is important. Every story and every person matters.”

2. Get clear about what you believe.

The third law of motion is my favorite law and I love it because it is so true. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The energy you put out is always the energy that is going to come back to you; it is happening whether you realize it or not. You co-create your life with the energy of your intention. You must have clear understanding and bring  intention with you to every situation. Every action, thought, and feeling is motivated by intention and that intention is a cause that exists as one with what you believe. What is it that you want people to feel and experience? Why do you want to do it? What’s your motivation for doing it? You cannot continue to do things just to do them or to make other people happy. Be truly intentional .

“The energy you are willing to put into your life is the energy you will get back.”

I came from a place where no one was supposed to be anything. If I believed everything that people said about what a little colored girl from Mississippi was supposed to be when she grew up, and how far I could climb I would not be writing this today. Stop limiting your beliefs about who you are, what you can be, and what you can achieve in your life.

“You become what you believe, not what you wish for.”

3. Live In a Space of Surrender and Gratitude

You want the same thing I want. What we really want is to be able to fulfill the truest highest expression of yourself. This is about the life you want, and until you take the last breath you are still on the climb and journey. You have to get in the essence of who you were meant to be. Come to a space where you can be still and listen to what the spirit has to say through you to cultivate that part of you that is spirit. I love this quote by Perre Chardin: “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Real success comes from being in connection with that spirit and your heart’s desires come from that source.

“I am the master of my fate, the captain of my soul.”

Our No. 1 job is to stay in the flow of the source. You have complete control over your own energy field. You have no power in someone else’s territory, so stop wasting time in the energy fields of other people. You have a finite amount of time to process and execute your energy in such a way that you create the life you want. Get started and go!

“There’s always a second chance. As long as you are breathing, you get a second chance.”
