2014 Black Enterprise Woman of Power: Pamela Carter


Pamela Carter oversees the division that sells and provides Cummins products in more than 190 countries and territories. Her unit has been a key contributor to this designer and manufacturer of power generation equipment, power systems, gasoline engines, and custom power supplies, which produced sales of $17.3 billion in 2012.

In her previous post with the company, Carter managed operations for Cummins Filtration, making her the first woman in the nation to assume such a position in that manufacturing sector.

Carter began her career at Cummins as General Counsel in 1997 after a career in private legal practice and as Attorney General for the state of Indiana from 1993 to 1997. Carter was the first African American woman in the country to serve in that position.
