Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson told the Associated Press that he’s going to help celebrity chef Paula Deen redeem herself since she’s admitted using racial slurs in a lawsuit deposition, an admission that has cost her job at Food Network as well as several endorsements.
Jackson says Deen should not become a “sacrificial lamb.”
The civil rights icon told The Associated Press that Deen called him this week, and they discussed how she might save herself.
Jackson says if Deen is willing to acknowledge mistakes and make changes, “she should be reclaimed rather than destroyed.”
