Quincy Jones Launches Music Education App, Playground Sessions
Music legend Quincy Jones launched a new music education app Tuesday called Playground Sessions. The Associated Press reports that the newly released tool teaches users how to play the piano with real-time feedback and video tutorials from pianist David Sides.
There’s “such a need for this,†Jones said in an interview last week, according to Associated Press. “The concept is brand-new. I have been praying for this for a long time. It has a learning concept similar to Rosetta Stone. I’m blown away by this.â€
The musical app features close to 70 popular songs by “Single Ladies†songstress Beyonce and Canadian-born pop star Justin Bieber, as well as well-known tracks like Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York†and Katy Perry’s “Firework.â€
Co-creator of the app and founder of Playground Sessions Chris Vance told AP he linked up with Jones over a year ago after working alone on the project for three years. He said the 79-year-old music mogul immediately saw a vision for the app and wanted to make learning music fun.
Jones hopes Playground Sessions will impact music education programs in schools around the world.
