Reward Increased for Slain Chicago Teen, Funeral Arrangements Announced


Arrangements for the funeral of slain Chicago teenager Hadiya Pendleton have been announced and the reward for her killer has increased from $30,000 to $40,000, the Grio reports.

According to WGN, the Feb. 8 visitation will be at Calahan Funeral Home, at 7030 S. Halsted St., from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A wake and funeral will follow on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Greater Harvest Baptist Church, at 5141 S. State St.

An online petition asking Obama to attend her funeral was started, but as of Saturday, still needed more than 99,000 signatures to receive a response from the White House.

Hadiya Pendleton was shot on the 4500 block of S. Oakenwald Street in Chicago, and anyone with information in the case is being asked to call 312-747-8380.
