Christmas is upon us, Â but many Santa Clauses around the nation may not be Ho Ho Ho ing because they’re unemployed, according to MarketWatch.
“There’s no question about it; the number of Santas out there looking for work has grown,â€ Jennifer Andrews told Marketwatch. Andrews is headmaster of the Santa School in Calgary, Alberta, which supplies Santas to stores and malls. “And there’s not a lot of room for untrained Santas.â€
Baby boomers thought Santa roles were easy money, but getting into the Santa market requires training and even with experience it’s tough to land a gig. And now with the economic downturn it’s gotten even harder.
