The Republican National Committee announced that it has restarted its Joe Biden gaffe countdown clock as of 9:10 a.m. ET today.  The offense: The Democrat vice presidential nominee and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee mixed up military “battalions” with “brigades.”


To clarify, Merriam-Webster.com defines the two as follows:


Battalion noun bat·tal·ion 
1. a considerable body of troops organized to act together : army  
2. a military unit composed of a headquarters and two or more companies, batteries, or similar units  
3. a large group


Brigade noun bri·gade

1 a: a large body of troops b: a tactical and administrative unit composed of a headquarters, one or more units of infantry or armor, and supporting units
2. a group of people organized for special activity
