Sports Tops Social TV Spots, Data Shows

Social media has allowed viewers across the world to connect with their favorite–or not so fave–shows through their mobile devices. But when it comes to sports fans, it’s practically impossible to get die-hard sports enthusiasts away from both their first and now second screens.

According to data provided by Trendrr, a tracking platform that measures social media activity associated with specific television shows across Facebook, Twitter and GetGlue, among other sites, NBA games were the most-discussed programs this week. Sports programs made up 42% of all social activity from cable, with 32% of online conversation focused on basketball, according to Mashable. The other 10% stemmed from the NHL.
