Stephen and Ayesha Curry To Donate Thousands Of Books To Oakland Schools

The Currys, Stephen and his wife Ayesha, are extending the good fortune being done by their non-profit organization, Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. According to PEOPLE, the couple is donating thousands of books to schools around Oakland, California.

The couple’s organization, Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation has teamed with Literati to give away 14,000 boxes of books to students affected by the coronavirus pandemic, directly to Oakland Unified Schools before Christmas.

“We along with our entire team at Eat. Learn. Play. understand the importance of early childhood education, especially when it comes to literacy,” Stephen and Ayesha told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.

“Nothing is more basic, more essential, more foundational, or more important to a child’s success in life than the ability to read well. We know there is a lot of work to be done, but with partners like Literati, we’re hopeful that we will be able to make an impact on these children’s lives.”

Just this past weekend, the couple and their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation celebrated the holiday with the #ChristmasWithTheCurrys event at the Oakland Arena and RingCentral Coliseum.

What a day to remember! On Saturday, the #EatLearnPlay team was joined alongside our co-founders, @stephencurry30 and @ayeshacurry as we held our annual #ChristmasWithTheCurrys Holiday food and gift distribution in the safest manner possible. We provided 1,000 Oakland families with $250 gift cards, as well as groceries, restaurant meals, fresh produce, books, and boxes full of incredible gifts provided by our great partners.

We’ve worked tirelessly during this challenging year to support all Oakland families, and we’re committed to providing them with the food and resources they need to get through this holiday season and beyond. Check out some of the highlights and stay tuned for more amazing moments from #ChristmasWithTheCurrys #GivingandGratitude
