More Customers Affected By Target Data Breach

If you used your credit or debit card at Target recently, make sure you check–and then double-check—your account statements. The Credit Union Times reports Target made an announcement today that personal information from as many as 70 million customers may have been compromised in the data breach last December. The retailer had originally said about 40 million cards had been affected.

Target said in a statement: “As part of Target’s ongoing forensic investigation, it has been determined that certain guest information—separate from the payment card data previously disclosed—was taken during the data breach.”

The retailer says this information includes personal information such as email addresses, phone numbers, names, and mailing addresses, for up to 70 million people.
