The Onion Apologizes to Quvenzhané Wallis for Cu*t Tweet

quvenzhane wallis smilingThe Onion, which bills itself as America’s Finest News Source, had a bitter taste of one as it had to apologize for calling nine-year-old Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, a crude and offensive word on Twitter.

“On behalf of The Onion, I offer my personal apology to Quvenzhané Wallis and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the tweet that was circulated last night during the Oscars,” Steve Hannah, The Onion’s chief executive, said in a statement. “It was crude and offensive – not to mention inconsistent with The Onion’s commitment to parody and satire, however biting.”

There was an uproar over the the tweet immediately after is was sent from the publication.
