The Sterlings Will Face Off in Court Regarding Sale of LA Clippers

According to The Huffington Post, Shelly and Donald Sterling will face each other in court on July 7th. The trial is expected to last 4 days and was brought by Donald as his wife had him declared mentally incompetent, which gave her the right to make decisions as the sole administrator of The Sterling Family Trust, which owns the LA Clippers. The trial is expected to determine if Donald was properly removed as an administrator for the family trust that owns the team.

Donald Sterling was banned for life from the NBA and fined $2.5 million for racist comments heard on an audiotape made by his ‘assistant’, V. Stiviano.

It’s been widely reported that Donald Sterling, at the suggestion of his wife, Shelly, voluntarily went to be examined by doctors and had brain scans taken.

“In my opinion he is substantially unable to manage his finances and resist fraud and undue influence, and is no longer competent to act as trustee of his trust,” concluded Dr. James E. Spar, who is affiliated with the division of geriatric psychiatry at UCLA, one of the doctors who examined Sterling.

Also at dispute is the actual sale of the LA Clippers for $2 billion to Ex Microsoft executive, Steve Ballmer.
