Helping & Housing Women Veterans
Major Jas Boothe knows all about turning trials into triumph. A disabled Army Veteran and cancer survivor who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, she had little to no federal assistance while serving her country as an newly-unhoused single mother. She created a solution for herself — and other women like her —by founding Final Salute Inc., one of the only nonprofits in the country with a national mission dedicated exclusively to housing homeless women veterans and their children. In 15 years, Final Salute Inc. has served more than 8,000 women veterans across 30 states and territories. The married mother of two is a proud alumna of HBCU Mississippi Valley State University and member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Major Jas truly lived up to her commitment to "Never Leave a Fallen Comrade."
