Walmart Launches Auto Insurance Comparison Service

Walmart continues to surprise and amaze us with another new offering. Walmart has traditionally been known to offer rock-bottom prices on household items, food, and clothing. Now, if you want to compare auto insurance rates, you can go to the superstore for that, too.

The store plans to offer these services through its partnership with AutoInsurance.com. The comparison service was created to assist drivers with saving money on auto insurance policies.

Said Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of services for Walmart in a news release:

“Providing our customers with access to a broad assortment — from groceries to tires — at low prices and in one location is what we’re known for. We’re bringing the same one-stop shopping mentality to the insurance industry with AutoInsurance.com.”

Customers are offered several quotes from insurance carriers such as Esurance, Safeco, and Progressive. This new service is now only available in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas. However, Walmart says it has plans in the works to eventually offer the auto insurance comparison service nationwide.

Walmart has definitely become a one-stop-shop for just about everything you could ever want to purchase. The store also has a Money Center at its local stores where consumers can cash checks for $3. In addition, the retailer has an alternative debit and checking account called Bluebird, which features no minimum balance requirement or annual, monthly maintenance, or activation fees.
