What is Facebook's New 'Graph Search'?

What is Facebook’s New “Graph Search?”

facebook graph searchThis week Facebook announced that it has rolled out a new search engine feature on the site called Graph Search that lets you search the interests, locations and preferences of your friends and others on Facebook.

The feature is still in the beta, testing stage, and only a select group will be able to use it for now. If you’d like to be put on the waiting list for access to the feature you must sign up at facebook.com/graphsearch. Facebook newsroom describes the service this way:

“Graph Search and web search are very different. Web search is designed to take a set of keywords (for example: “hip hop”) and provide the best possible results that match those keywords. With Graph Search you combine phrases (for example: “my friends in New York who like Jay-Z”) to get that set of people, places, photos or other content that’s been shared on Facebook. We believe they have very different uses.”
