A white teacher is on administrative leave because she used the N-word on a Black student during an argument.

According to KWTV, a CBS-affiliated television station licensed to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a recorded verbal altercation between a Black student and a white teacher at Holdenville High School has gone viral.

On his phone, the student was defiant in class when a teacher physically blocked and grabbed him after he said he would walk home.

In the recorded video, the student called the teacher a “b-tch.” She retaliated by grabbing his bookbag.

“You better watch where you touch me,” the student said, before she replied, “You better get yourself over there, n***a, do it.”

The classroom was shocked that the teacher used a racial slur, but the teacher was not taken aback. She even tried to justify it by saying, “I asked you. …’ What would happen if I said it?’ Right? And so, you didn’t think it was OK.”

“Holdenville Public Schools’ main priority is the safety and well-being of our students. The district is fully aware of the incident that occurred at our high school on Friday, April 9, 2021. At this time, the staff member in question has been placed on administrative leave and will be through the duration of a full investigation is completed,” said a statement from Superintendent Randy Davenport.

The student who was called the N-word grabbed the teacher’s glasses off her face and threw them.

The white teacher, who was not named, said she was going to call the police. There is no confirmation whether or not the local police contacted the student.

The city of Holdenville is mostly white at about 75%. Black people make up about 3%, which is actually lower than the Native American population, according to Moving Ideas.
