Why You Shouldn’t Miss the Women of Power Summit

Calling all women of power! The fourth annual Women of Power Summit is almost here! This year it’s being held at the Ritz-Carlton, Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida, Feb. 11-14. It will be four days of executive leadership workshops and power networking and lifestyle sessions; four days of invaluable tools, tips, and strategies that will help you improve your professional life and the life you lead outside of work, too. It will be four days you won’t soon forget. Here are some of the things you’ll have to look forward to.

The Women of Power Legacy Awards dinner honors women who have opened doors, broken barriers, and rewritten the standards of success for women of color in every field. This year’s honorees are Dr. Joycelyn Elders, former U.S. Surgeon General; Leah Chase, owner of Dooky Chase restaurant; Mary Frances Berry, Ph.D., a Geraldine R. Segal professor of American social thought and professor of history at the University of Pennsylvania; and JoAnn Price, co-founder and managing partner of Fairview Capital Management. Jazz bassist and musical prodigy Esperanza Spalding will give a musical tribute to this year’s winners.

Start your Friday and Saturday mornings with Dr. Sunyatta Amen and a belly dance workout! Dr. Sunyatta, the natural health adviser for The Michael Baisden Show, is a naturopathic physician whose philosophy is that movement is key to vibrant health. She’s also the founder of the Belly Dancers of Color Association and the Soul Yoga Association.

State Farm and Macy’s have teamed up to bring you the Power Fashion Event–and you might recognize a few of the ladies working the runway! Some of the women who participated in last year’s State Farm 50 Million Pound Challenge will be back this year to share their inspirational weight loss stories and strut their slimmed-down stuff!

And no Women of Power Summit would be complete without stellar entertainment. When you think of one of the hottest female groups of the ’90s, four Funky Divas who were Born to Sing, who comes to mind? En Vogue, of course. En Vogue will take center stage to electrify and inspire us with their extraordinary vocals and some of our favorite songs.
