[RECAP] Activate Conference Wows and Inspires New York City Power Women


The Activate Conference, founded by powerhouse entrepreneur Lucinda Cross, hosted its main event Sept. 20, at the The Times Center in New York City. The conference brought out entertainment, business and media industry leaders to discuss major topics that are important to women entrepreneurs and professionals, inspiring them with candid insights on work-life balance, business expansion, monetizing purpose and serving their communities.

Attendees enjoyed welcome reception, followed by a “Meet the Authors of the Art of Activation” event and a luxe A-list networking party.

Opening conference speakers were actresses and TV hosts Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd, currently starring in Cinderella on Broadway. The Hollywood vets talked thriving in Hollywood, self-motivation and how women can pay it forward.

Panelists and guest speakers offered unique insights into their successful journeys as professionals, authors and entrepreneurs, including: business consultant Jen Groover; content development & personal development coach, Nicole Roberts Jones; Janell Hazelwood, digital media journalist, speaker andBlack Enterprise producer and editor;  entertainment powerhouse and lifestyle brand entrepreneur Yandy Smith; celebrity fashion and lifestyle expert, Dawn Del Russo; author and life coach Bershan Shaw; author, digital media journalist and speaker Tiphani Montgomery; Certified Empowerment Coach Felicia T. Scott;entrepreneur and philanthropist, Amber Sabathia; motivational speaker and scholar of the Institute of American Values, Samantha “Sammy D” Davis; Ash “Ash Cash” Exantus, banking professional and personal finance expert; PR and entertainment dynamo Tamiko Hope; health & wellness advocate and speaker Vanessa Cunningham; andPrecious L. Williams, Esq., entrepreneur and pitch expert.

Ilyasah Al-Shabazz, activist and author, will host the awards ceremony honoring leaders in their fields, from philanthropy to young bosses.
