On the Move: American Express Designates Nancy Testa Chief Diversity Officer

It has recently been announced that former Head of HR for Global Merchant Services & Loyalty Group of American Express, Nancy Testa, has now been appointed Chief Diversity Officer of the prominent credit card company.

“I am thrilled to take the reins of our long-standing diversity and inclusion program,” said Testa in a released statement. “I find our ability to scale global strategies and apply them locally in relevant and impactful ways to be most exciting. It will allow us to continue attracting and retaining diverse talent, as well as reinforce our commitment to helping our employees develop the skills they need to thrive at American Express.”

American Express has long been on the quest to diversify their employees, with 40% total minorities and 57% women employed at the company in 2015. The executive senior level officials and managers of the company also have 24% total minorities with 30% women, according to the most recent findings. It will be Testa’s primary goal to ensure that this number steadily rises.

“Nancy is a long time champion of fostering diverse talent and different perspectives, as a means to find the best solutions for our company and customers,” said Kevin Cox, chief human resources officer of American Express, in a recent release. “As an executive with a wealth of global leadership and talent management experience, she is ideally suited to help us continue developing best practices and impactful programs across diversity and inclusion, to drive business results.”

American Express knows that it is vital to the company’s success to ensure that the culture remains diversified and inclusive. According to their diversity mission, they are looking to foster an environment where differences are valued and expressed freely, and employees have the support needed to learn, collaborate, and take risks.

With Testa’s extensive HR experience–which includes Vice President, Asia Pacific HR Business Partner for Wachovia Bank; Senior Vice President, HR Executive, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; and a total of over 20 years of human resources experience–Testa is expected to lead the charge in keeping inclusion and diversity at American Express’s forefront.
