U.S. Unemployment Hits Four-Year Low, But Black Unemployment Remains Same

black unemploymentThe U.S. economy added 236,000 jobs dropping the national unemployment rate to 7.7 percent, the lowest in four years.

Last month, the unemployment rate was 7.9 percent, making the February jobs report the best since November of last year. The improved economy is attributed to a stronger private sector. The job market would be even better, with unemployment as low as 7.2 percent, if the government had not reduced spending and jobs, according to reports.

Though the overall economy seems to be shaping up well, African-Americans still struggle to match the national momentum, with a 13.8-percent unemployment rate for the second month in a row.
