Blogging may not make you rich like Necole Bitchie or Perez Hilton, but there’s definitely some opportunity to up your coins. If you’re looking to turn your passion for food or DIY arts and crafts into a blog, it won’t hurt to explore these cash-making options. Know that becoming an overnight success, as with any pursuit, is highly unlikely. Blogging requires consistent delivery and click-worthy content that will keep your audience coming back. It my take a while and some trial and error to find your content groove. Once you’ve got that part down pat, try these different ways to make money blogging.

Google AdSense is a popular ad platform among bloggers. It’s fairly easy to incorporate into your blog and you don’t have to be a computer wiz to get started. A little copy and pasting of the provided code and you’re set to go. It’s one of the larger advertising networks out there, offering a wide range of advertisers to collaborate with.

Amazon Associates

Have you ever been on a blog and found yourself sidetracked by all the cool Amazon shopping ads to the side? Well, every time you give into your urge and click on them to make a purchase, the blogger gets paid. Amazon Associates lets bloggers earn a piece of sales from readers who click the ad to and make a purchase. Simply clicking the ad isn’t enough to cut the check. Readers have to actually make a purchase after clicking.

Private Ads

Private ads appear like graphics usually in the sidebar, header or footer of a blog. You, the blogger, and the company, usually a small business, work together to determine the price, terms and conditions of your relationship. To get private ads, the blogger directly reaches out to the business, i.e. an online boutique, and curate a relationship. This cuts out the middleman of ad agencies like Google AdSense.

Sponsored Posts

Sponsored posts usually happen a little later in your blogging career. Once you’ve built a strong, solid following, you can partner with a company and blog about their product or service. For example, popular fashion blogger Blake Von D is also a brand ambassador for L’Oreal and wrote a sponsored post on their True Match Liquid Foundation.
