Glam University and Rolling Out Magazine Present “I Am Girl Power” Film


Sabrina Peterson, Glam University and Girl Power SleepOver founder, debuted a short film, “I am Girl Power,” on Monday December 14, at 7:00 PM at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta. Presented by Rolling Out Magazine and Glam University,  and directed and produced by Lisa Cunningham for Atlanta Film Partners, supporters and fans gathered in a packed theater to hear stories of Girl Power from successful business moguls. The documentary showcased women entrepreneurs who, despite all odds and difficult circumstances, were able to build successful brands in fashion, beauty, entertainment, and more.

The film opened with a chilling recounting of Peterson’s life, from working in the adult industry to leaving her child to serve her prison sentence. One thing that was consistent throughout the film was her unwavering faith and her unwillingness to allow her wrong choices to dictate her life. She not only shared a brief snippet of her life and challenges that she overcame, but she shared stories of other women who exemplify Girl Power. Featured women included:

Mary Seats, also know as Mz. Skittlez, who was once homeless and bullied as a child, discussed how she was able to rise above her circumstances to create a global brand: Cupcake Mafia. “A slow rise to the top is better then a fast fall to the bottom,” exclaimed Seats. Chanita Foster, Founder of Beyond the Game and wife to NFL free agent George Foster, discussed her battle with depression and her success with a multilevel marketing business, SkinnTea, having made over $250K in under a year. “Work works; you have to put in the work mentally and spiritually,” proclaimed Foster.

In addition to stories of success from Seats, Foster, and other notable women, Sabrina also shares her recipe for success.
