Executive chef and TV personality David Rose has plenty of reasons to celebrate. He was able to turn his love for food into a profitable brand and career and is helping bring people together all over the world with his delicious recipes.
After releasing his first cookbook, EGGin’: David Rose Cooks on the Big Green Egg, in December 2021, Rose has earned the No.1 best-selling cookbook in the Barbecuing & Grilling category on Amazon. The book was a byproduct of Rose’s national ambassador deal with Big Green Egg.
In addition to Big Green Egg, Rose also worked with major brands like Omaha Steaks, Nissan USA, and Harley-Davidson.
Coming from humble beginnings, Rose is all about staying true to himself and knowing that success will come. Rose is a first-generation Jamaican-American and the youngest of eight children. Rose’s parents, who both worked as chefs, instilled the “self-belief” in him at an early age.
I was raised in New Jersey, come from a huge Jamaican family, and Mom and Dad were both career chefs,” Rose told BLACK ENTERPRISE.
“Growing up in the cultural melting pot, which is the tri-state area, every type of cuisine and food was readily available at my fingertips at a very early age.”
Rose recalls being enamored with cuisine from all cultures and falling in love with “all things delicious at a very young age!”
There aren’t a lot of chefs who have found success in the form of ambassadorship deals the way Rose has. But he says it’s something all can attain if they work to align themselves with brands they’re passionate about.
“When securing corporate partnerships and brand ambassador opportunities, I can’t emphasize more the importance of being true to who you are and the person you portray to media,'” he said.
“A lot of the corporations are looking for individuals who are unique and have their own original point of view.”
His grill-centric cookbook became a bestseller just ahead of the summer season when barbecues take center stage. For those looking for some ideas on the types of recipes they can whip up courtesy of Chef Rose, he shared some suggestions.
“Jerk Chicken with Pineapple-Habanero Sauce and Korean Barbecue–Style Short Ribs are great for a backyard BBQ,” he said. “While the Birria Street Tacos and Mexican Street Corn Skewers would be a hit at taco night!”
“If you really want to impress your guests with an elevated dinner, you can always whip up my Porcini-Crusted Porterhouse with Sun-Dried Tomato Chimichurri and a Lobster Mac N’ Cheese…. it’s truly drool-worthy,” he added.
“Not to mention desserts like Smoked Sweet Potato Cheesecake and smoked cocktails such as Grilled Watermelon Sangria, your grilling options are literally endless with EGGin’.”
Living by his mantra “Good Food And Laughter,” Chef David Rose continues to take the culinary industry by storm thanks to his innovative recipes, style of cooking, positive personality, and focus on overall health and wellness.
