If you’ve ever wondered what its like to be a jet-setting celebrity, John Legend – singer, songwriter, performer and producer – has added another title to his list of credentials – luxury tour guide. According to the Wall Street Journal, Legend worked with Four Seasons and TCS World Travel to design a $120,000, 11-day safari, where he will lead up to 50 guests aboard a private jet to destinations around the world.
It should come as no surprise that Legend has developed an insatiable appetite for luxury hotels, restaurants and experiences. So beginning in September, guests will travel to destinations from the Napa Valley to Italy’s Lake Como to meet some of Legend’s friends, including Thelma Golden, director of Harlem’s Studio Museum, and venture capitalist Tim Draper. And, from whizzing around Lake Como on a Ferretti yacht to sampling rare wines to VIP tours of Milan’s Armani Museum and the Paris school where Van Cleef & Arpels trains its watchmakers, guests can definitely expect some up close and unforgettable moments with Legend.
During his interview with the Wall Street Journal, he also provided some insight around his zest for the “good life,” through travel, food and unique experiences.
The perfect vacation is: “mellow. My wife and I love to eat and just relax and recharge. Our last vacation was a quick trip to the Meadowood resort in the Napa Valley for Memorial Day. Before that it was a week in St. Bart’s last spring and a week in the Maldives for Christmas.”
The best present I’ve ever given was: “a coffee table book of our wedding that I gave to my wife as a Christmas present. I made it with Couture Book. It’s almost like a fashion book, and she loved it.
My arsenal of luggage consists of: “two black Tumi roller duffels–the best big, durable, functional bags; a Louis Vuitton roller bag for underwear and toiletries in case things get lost; and a Tom Ford backpack with the cool zipper, for my laptop.”
