Jonathan Majors’ Ex Speaks On Domestic Violence After His Guilty Verdict
Jonathan Majors' ex-girlfriend is breaking her silence in the wake of his guilty verdict and asking for donations for domestic violence organizations.
Jonathan Majors’ ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, is breaking her silence in the wake of his guilty verdict and asking for donations for the domestic violence organization that represented her in the high-profile assault trial.
Jabbari took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, Dec. 19, to share a message of support to three domestic violence support organizations, one being the one that aided in her legal win against Majors on Monday, People reports.
“For my birthday, if you want.. a donation to @sffny, a charity that helped me so much this year, would be the best gift you could give,” Jabbari wrote, tagging Sanctuary for Families New York. “Thank you so much @sffny, and everyone else…For everything.”
The dancer and movement coach wrote the message above a PSA against domestic violence.
“New Yorkers: Get help today. Leave abuse behind.”
Jabbari’s statement came one day after Sanctuary for Families New York released a statement on Instagram in response to Majors’ guilty verdict.
“Sanctuary for Families is proud to have represented Ms. Jabbari throughout this process and will continue to support her on her journey toward justice and healing,” the organization stated.
They followed up with a statement from Ross Kramer, director of Sanctuary’s Incarcerated Gender Violence Survivors Initiative, where he said how “gratified” they are by Majors’ guilty verdict.
“We are gratified to see justice served by today’s guilty verdict. Ms. Jabbari testified publicly and truthfully, even though reliving these traumatic events on the witness stand was obviously painful,” he said. “We are grateful to the jurors and the Judge for their attention and patience, and to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for their hard work and support.”
The statement continued. “Ms. Jabbari’s resolve to see this case through to the end demonstrates her tremendous strength and resilience. Unfortunately, for every survivor like Ms. Jabbari who comes forward to hold their abuser accountable, there are many others who believe that they cannot. We hope that her actions will inspire other survivors to speak their truth and seek justice.”
On Monday, Majors was found guilty of two charges, including misdemeanor assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury, and harassment in the second degree. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6.
Shortly after receiving the guilty verdict, the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star was dropped by Marvel ahead of plans for him to star in two Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including a fifth Avengers movie. His lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, released a statement after the verdict expressing his hope to clear his name one day.
“Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends, and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months,” Chaudhry said. “Mr. Majors still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name.”
