Michael Brown Scholarship Fund to Help Siblings Attend College

With Michael Brown’s chances of earning a college degree being robbed from him, two organizations are coming together and making it their duty to help his younger siblings fulfill the opportunity that was taken from him.

The Wisconsin Hope Lab, which works to minimize barriers faced by students from all backgrounds that could prevent them from attaining a higher education, is working with the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County to create the “Mike Brown College Scholarship.” The scholarship fund will not only honor the unarmed teen who was killed by a Ferguson, Missouri cop, but will also raise funds to provide Brown’s three siblings with full-ride scholarships to the colleges of their choice.

“Mike’s mom deserves to see her other children cross the finish line and receive their diplomas — I want to support her doing that,” Wisconsin Hope Lab Director Sara Goldrick-Rab tells Channel 3000.

The scholarship is funded through a crowd fund campaign that has already raised more than $24,000 with one university president, who wishes to remain anonymous, offering to provide a debt-free education at his institution to Brown’s two sisters and brother.
