Nick Cannon to Host Daytime Syndicated Talk Show

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nick Cannon will be hosting his own talk show next year.

Cannon has made a deal with Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury to host a new, nationally syndicated daytime talk show, which is set to premiere in 2020. His production arm, Ncredible Entertainment, will co-produce the series. No details have been released yet as far as launch date or show format.

Cannon filled in as a replacement host for The Wendy Williams Show earlier this year. “After leaving America’s Got Talent, I wanted to focus on developing my own talk show,” Cannon said in a statement as reported by Broadcasting and Cable. “I’ve always dreamed of a platform where I can speak to America and discuss pop culture, as well as the topics on everyone’s minds. When I had the opportunity to guest host at my good friend Wendy Williams’ show this year, I experienced the energy and excitement of a daytime talk show and instantly knew I found my audience.”

“We are excited to be able to announce this collaboration with Nick, who has proven himself to be such a dominant creative and entrepreneurial force across film, primetime TV, music, comedy, stage and online platforms,” said Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein to Deadline. “The daytime audience got to see that firsthand earlier this year with his stellar performance guest hosting The Wendy Williams Show. Now we can’t wait to see Nick put his own unique stamp on talk and add daytime to his impressive list of accomplishments.”

When Cannon was asked what he plans to cover on his new daytime talk series, he said on People TV’s Reality Check, “I talk a lot of crap. I’m just going to be me.”

Cannon has a long career showcasing his talent as a host, comedian, actor, producer, rapper, writer, director, deejay, philanthropist, children’s book author, and activist. The busy businessman currently hosts The Masked Singer on Fox, which debuted earlier this year and has already been renewed for two additional seasons, as well as his own variety-themed show on MTV, Wild ‘N Out, which is in its 13th season.

The versatile entertainer was once married to pop superstar Mariah Carey. They have two children and separated and filed for divorce in December 2014 and the divorce was finalized in 2016. He recently said he regretted losing his ‘dream girl’ Carey in a recent interview on T.I.’s ExpediTIously with Tip T.I. Harris podcast.
