Nick Cannon Opens A Vegan Soul Food Restaurant in Los Angeles

Multi-talented actor and renowned businessman Nick Cannon has opened a vegan restaurant inside the 100-year-old Japanese restaurant Yamashiro, according to Vegan News. The VTree Hollywood is located in the Hollywood Hills.

Cannon has partnered with acclaimed plant-based chef Chef Velvet. The announcement about its opening was made on Instagram.

“Hollywood! Are you ready for SoulFULL Plant-Based cuisine? @thevtreehollywood by @thevelvetchef will launch our takeout orders on 4/30/20 at @yamashirola. Get your tastebuds ready”

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, VTree Hollywood currently offers only curbside orders and take-out. The restaurant is usually open Thursday through Saturday.

After Cannon visited Chef Velvet’s restaurant Veltree in Charlotte, NC, he was so impressed with the food that he wanted to partner with her to open a restaurant than gave Hollywood more plant-based soul food options.

The restaurant’s rotating menu features classic, Southern-inspired dishes made with organic ingredients. Some of the dishes include BBQ Ribz, Cajun Shrimp, Original Fried Drumsticks, Krab Cakes, and Chic’n and Waffles.

Upon opening the restaurant, the kitchen sold out. A message (since removed) was posted on its Instagram account thanking the consumers for success. “LA, thank you! Thank you for completely selling us out. Thank you for your [patience], thank you for your encouraging words, and thank you for your support, We do not take it for granted that you choose to support our business…. again, thank you!”

The Wild ‘N Out host’s new nationally syndicated talk show will debut Monday, September 21.

Cannon has enjoyed a long career as a host, comedian, actor, producer, rapper, writer, director, deejay, philanthropist, children’s book author, and activist. He currently hosts The Masked Singer on Fox, which is in its third season.
