Nicki Minaj Scores Her Third No. 1 Album With ‘Pink Friday 2’

Rapper Nicki Minaj has scored her third Billboard No. 1 album with her fourth full-studio album "Pink Friday 2."


Nicki Minaj has scored her third Billboard No. 1 album with her fourth full-studio album “Pink Friday 2.”

The Grammy nominated rapper released “Pink Friday 2” on her 41st birthday, Dec. 8 and within one week, the album shot up the Billboard 200 with 228,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S., Billboard reports. Nicki Minaj has now made history as the female rapper with the most No. 1s.

She also garnered the largest week for a rap album by a woman in the 2020s decade, and the biggest for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman in 2023. The album also sold 25,000 copies on vinyl, making it the largest week for a female rap album since Luminate started tracking sales in 1991.

Her chart-topping debut includes 92,000 pure sales with 129,000 streaming equivalent album units, according to Forbes. “Pink Friday 2” received nearly 170 million plays on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

The “Big Difference” rapper was already dominating the Billboard Hot 100 with tracks from the new album including “Super Freaky Girl” which reached No. 1 in 2022 and her 2023 singles “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” which reached No. 13 and “Last Time I Saw You” which reached No. 23.

While “Pink Friday 2” is Nicki’s fourth full-studio album and third No. 1, it’s her seventh Top 10 album including 2015’s “The Pinkprint” which charted at No. 2, 2018’s “Queen” (No. 2), 2021’s “Beam Me Up Scotty” (No. 2), and 2022’s “Queen Radio: Volume 1.”

Nicki celebrated the good news by announcing her first week sales and thanking her fan club.

“228K Barbz,” she wrote on Sunday, Dec. 17.”

“Filled with gratitude. God bless you guys for this abundance of love & support you’ve given me. 🎀🦄,” she wrote in a separate tweet.

She followed up with reposts of tweets announcing her big feat.

Nicki responded to one fan who asked her how it feels to have released “an iconic and genius body of work.”

“It feels magical, my love. 🦄” she wrote.
