Cops Catch Gang Members Through Facebook and Twitter Posts

Who needs a forensic team when you have social media?

New York police officers busted three Manhattan gangs simply by following leads on their Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.

“God forgives I don’t … somebody gotta die,” one alleged member of the gang “Air It Out” posted on Facebook. “I’m 2 Glocks strapped, rolling down 112th Madison, 116 this is the New Iraq,” said another member.

Members of gangs Air It Out, the True Money Gang (or Trillas), and Whoadey unwittingly posted candid statuses and pictures of themselves with guns, publicly lauding their gang activity. Their social media movements helped cops arrest 63 members, whom have contributed to over 30 shootings and 3 murders in the East Harlem area.
