The other day I spoke with U.S. Education Secretary John King for a final interview. He looked back at what the administration has accomplished in education and areas where it had hoped to make a greater impact.
He would make America his home, only to discover a sick racial prejudice here, although it wasn't like what the Jews experienced during the Nazi era, and it was mostly—Jews and some others were also discriminated against---directed toward black people.
"We want to get them excited about science first and then about medicine and dentistry—to increase the likelihood that they'll pursue a career in science or medicine. We also have the teachers come over to Meharry to help them develop projects they can do with their students."
