Sitting at a desk for hours on end each week for an extended number of years can take a toll on your health, especially if you’re putting in 10-12 hours a day. If you can’t step out for a lunchtime workout or afford to get the flu, how can you take care of yourself?

Stacia Pierce, the CEO of Ultimate Lifestyle Enterprises and veteran businesswoman, has shared these her top tips on how to stay healthy at the office:

When you first wake up: Jumpstart your day with 50-100 jumping jacks or air jump rope. It will get your heart rate pumping and your blood flowing so that you can start your stay alert and focused. If cardio is not your cup of tea, opt for a 20 minute yoga session.

Mid-morning before noon: Take a walking break. At least every two hours, walk around your office. Visit a co-worker on another floor, walk to the copy room to make copies and stand while you wait for them to finish.

Lunchtime: Eat your lunch outside to get fresh air and eat for energy. Load up on fruits and vegetables or fruit and lean protein.

When you feel that afternoon slump: Sanitize your workspace. Keep disinfectant wipes near to wipe down your mouse, keyboard and phone. Also wash your hands regularly.

All Day: Surround yourself with beautiful objects such as fresh flowers; one of my favorite fresheners for an office desk is Target’s Up’n’Up Daisy Gardenia air freshener. It’s a cute artificial flower with its’ own stands that emits fresh scents while making your space bright and cheery. It lasts a very long time!

Whether you have 5 minutes or an hour, there is always something you can do to improve your mind and body. When you are on top of your game, it shows!
