[WATCH]: Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx In New ‘Annie’ Trailer

Movie fans who have been anticipating seeing Quvenzhané Wallis’ next project will surely be excited by the newest and final trailer for Annie, a film that will see its U.S. release Dec. 19.

The modern-day adaptation finds everyone’s favorite orphan in New York City, riding CitiBikes and getting into trouble while singing songs and looking absolutely adorable. The clip features the Oscar nominated actress crooning the popular tune, “Tomorrow,” which is already embedded into your mind even after reading this sentence.

Annie devotees will remark that the trailer shows off elements from the original such as Wallis’ character reading her parents’ note to the other orphans. But for the most part, everything that you will see from Cameron Diaz’s Miss Hannigan to Jamie Foxx’s Will Stacks is representing a new take on the story.

Eagle-eyed cinephiles will notice that the musical’s secondary villains, Rooster and Lily, are nowhere to be found. Luckily, there is a provocative mention of the central character possibly being able to find and meet her birth parents in the Will Gluck-directed, Jay Z-produced project.

In related news, Annie stars Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis also headline the December issue of ESSENCE Magazine. In the piece, Foxx admits just how valuable Wallis was to the overall production, saying, “I don’t think we could have done this movie unless Quvenzhané came along. It’s sort of like she’s tailor-made for the role in a sense. I would challenge you to find a girl who personifies ‘Annie’ better than Quvenzhané does.”

The cover story hits newsstands on Friday, November 7th. You can watch the clip for yourself below:
