Lil Wayne and Flau'jae Johnson

LSU Player Flau’jae Johnson Meets Lil Wayne, Now A Collaboration In The Works

Flau’jae Johnson has had quite the year. After she and her fellow Louisiana State University teammates defeated Iowa State to become national champions, her star quickly rose both on and off the court. And if being signed to Roc Nation isn’t enough to catapult her to the next level, a major co-sign from New Orlean’s most beloved prodigal son, Lil Wayne, may do the trick.

The 19-year-old phenom and the 40-year-old certified rap legend finally met at this year’s ESSENCE Festival, sharing a special moment backstage after Lil Wayne’s surprise performance. Johnson and Lil Wayne reportedly posed for photos, and he shared some words of advice for the rising star, according to TMZ.

This all comes after Lil Wayne announced that he and Johnson planned to collaborate on music while appearing on ESPN during the women’s basketball championship game. Johnson has been signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation since 2020 and has collaborated with Lil Baby and Boosie, as well as released a variety of viral freestyles. She also appeared on America’s Got Talent and Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah’s Lifetime series The Rap Game.

Recently, Johnson was in hot water after dropping a remix to Latto’s summer hit “Put It On Da Floor,” in which she referred to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. LSU issued an apology on her behalf, and things seemed to go back to normal as she announced her mixtape 4 My Fans is complete and will be released on July 14. It’s not clear who’ll be featured on it at this time or whether we’ll hear her collaboration with Lil Wayne on it, but it seems her supporters are patiently awaiting new music from Johnson regardless.
