Jared Brown

Jared currently coordinates a $25 million national initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of African American entrepreneurs and innovators at the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). In his capacity, he awards scholarships and administers an online entrepreneurship curriculum to 170 undergraduate scholars representing more than 40 colleges and universities. He was also recently selected to participate in the 2017 NLC Institute. The Institute trains emerging progressive political leaders in the areas of fundraising, new media, communications and campaigns. Previously, Jared has served at the U.S House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. His areas of policy focus include racial equality, education, small business, labor, urban development, lgbt rights and HIV/ AIDS. He is proud alumnus of the University of Virginia Department of African American Studies. He also completed an undergraduate research fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley and is currently pursuing a Masters in Technology Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland, College Park.
