White collar workers spend a significant amount of time sitting at a desk hunched over a computer. In fact, sedentary jobs have increased 83% since 1950, according to the American Heart Association. Between commuting to and from work, and spending the work day in meetings, on the phone, or rushing to complete projects, the one activity that seems the most expendable is exercising. To help get you motivated, BlackEnterprise.com compiled five exercises you can do in your office in less than 10 or fifteen minutes. Note: Before you begin any physical activity consult with your physician. Problem: Carpal tunnel syndrome can result from any repetitive movements such as typing or using a mouse. Solution: Hand exercises. Hold your right hand straight out in front of you with your palm down. With your left hand, grasp the fingers of your right hand and hold them back. Count to five. Repeat this substituting your right hand for your left hand.

If the iPhone 4 is the star quarterback of the high school football team, you can consider the Android a transfer player looking to steal some of the quarterback's shine. Earlier this week, Verizon announced the July release of its answer to the iPhone 4: The Droid X. While many smartphone makers may be hard-pressed to move in on the iPhone’s 25% market share, the Droid has been making waves, accounting for 46% of online mobile traffic compared with Apple's 39%. But with a competitive smartphone market and iPhones leading among creatives, Gen Y, and techies, and the Blackberry seeming to be the smartphone of choice for the business set, where does the Droid fit in? Check out the new features on the Droid X and see how it stacks up to its competitors.

Since 1978, with the introduction of the Harriet Tubman stamp, the USPS has been honoring African Americans who have made vital contributions to the United States. The latest in the series is pioneering filmmaker Oscar Micheaux, who wrote, directed, produced, and distributed more than 40 movies during the first half of the 20th century. He thrived at a time when African-American filmmakers were rare, venues for their work were scarce, and support from the industry did not exist. The artwork is based on one of the few surviving photographs of Micheaux, a portrait that appeared in his 1913 novel, "The Conquest." BlackEnterprise.com takes a look at other African Americans who were imortalized on stamps. (Date issued: June 22, 2010)BlackEnterprise.com wants to know: Who do you think should be on the next Black Heritage stamp? The Black Heritage series has been one of the USPS's most popular ever created. When an early-2000 Internet rumor spread that the series was going to be canceled, the postal service was inundated with hundreds of protesting letters, postcards, and phone calls. Despite an official press release denying the rumor, it resurfaces every year.

These days, an Academy Award is not the only prize that eludes black filmmakers. Getting a film made and distributed has become a rare occurrence as well. Of the 558 feature films that were released in 2009, eight were filmed by black directors and two of them were creations of stage and big screen powerhouse Tyler Perry, who has directed eight movies since 2006 alone, including Why Did I Get Married, Too, which brought in $60 million. But Perry isn’t the only one setting the stage for a second act. BlackEnterprise.com talked to eight filmmakers who can identify with the challenges black filmmakers face in Hollywood, but who strategized their efforts and are primed to do big things in the next few years.

"The Other City," a new documentary that tackles issues of homelessness, drug addiction, access to services, and the social stigma of HIV/AIDS, had its world premiere at the Ninth Annual Tribeca Film Festival, which ends May 2. Set in Washington D.C., the movie explores the dichotomy of a city that tourists don’t see and the AIDS epidemic in the nation's capital that the government sometimes ignores. Although the movie illuminates the heartbreak and loss attributed to the disease, it also reveals the struggles of people behind grassroots movements who provide healthcare, extend education, combat stigmas, and spread hope.

The next generation Cayenne S Hybrid is Porsche’s first production hybrid. The luxury SUV’s electric motor and its V6 combustion engine are connected to each another by a decoupling clutch, which allows the car to be driven either by the electric motor or the combustion engine alone, or by both drive units together. With its combined power output of 380 horsepower, the hybrid has the performance of a V8 with the economy of a V6. The Cayenne S Hybrid can cover short distances on electric power alone, free of emissions and noise up to 60 km/h or almost 40 mph. It is 1.9 inches longer than its predecessor, and has an added 1.6 inches in wheelbase. Both pricing and the SUV’s EPA-rated mpg are still to be determined. The Cayenne S Hybrid goes on sale this fall. (Image source: Porsche)

For some, medicine is a career, but for Fred and Milton Ochieng, it is a mission that has allowed them to bring health to their native Kenyan village where medical care was in short supply. Though that lack of medical care may have contributed to their parents’ premature deaths from AIDs, Milton and Fred turned their grief into a determination that others would receive adequate medical care and live. Fred (l.) and Milton (r.) Ochieng are fulfilling their dream of bringing healthcare to their hometown of Lwala, Kenya. Their inspiration stems from witnessing family members, friends, and neighbors suffer needlessly because there were no medical facilities nearby. “When I was a teenager, I’d see cousins or family members who were ill in the middle of the night,” recalls Milton. “Then, because the nearest hospital was over 10 kilometers away from the village, sick people would have to be either carried on a makeshift stretcher, on a mattress, or pushed in a wheelbarrow to the nearest paved road, four or five miles away.” Sometimes people suffered more than they needed to. Other times, the consequences were more dire. “We had people die before they could get to the hospital,” Milton says.
