Come the end of this month, the Olympics will be played out for all to see on NBC, but social-savvy fans and sponsors are set to connect with audiences on various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. (Not to mention, NBCOlympics.com will live stream every single event and the network will provide two different apps for mobile devices.) With nearly everyone toting a smartphone, the main sporting event will spark record-level engagement on popular social networking sites; it’s not a conversation everyone had access to during previous Olympic games. Web access has increased greatly since the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China. According to the International Telecommunications Union, there were approximately 1.5 billion Internet users worldwide (23% of the world’s total population). By July 27, that number will jump to about 2.3 billion users—an average of 33% of the total population. With the games fast approaching, Mashable outlined how the popular networks stack up today:

New Siri Features

I love the current Siri TV ads by Apple, and, quite frankly, it is the only place the personal assistant software seems to work. All jokes aside, it will be interesting to see Siri on new iPad. Here are some of its enhanced functions:
--Users will be able to post Facebook updates and send tweets with their voice.

--Siri has partnered with Yelp, OpenTable, Rotten Tomatoes, and sports score updates ranging from the latest scores to stats and schedules.

--The software assistant will continue expanding globally with its new language support, which will now feature Spanish, Italian, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese, and optimize languages in 15 countries.

Apple is working with automotive manufactures to launch “Eyes Free,” a new feature that will allow a car to bring up Siri voice control. Nine auto manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Toyota are working on this implementation with plans to incorporate the technology in the next 12 months.

Skip the objective. Objectives are outdated and rarely used in today’s world of professional resume writing. The purpose of the objective was to tell employers what you were seeking, i.e. “a challenging sales position.” Instead, the objective has now been replaced with a career profile or a summary of qualifications which tells employers exactly what you have to offer, i.e. “accomplished professional with 10 years sales experience.” Your resume should include a concise yet quality career profile which clearly indicates what you have to offer, rather than just what you desire. Employers are far more attracted to a candidate who actually brings something to the table.

ADD ALL YOUR SOCIAL PROFILES, ESPECIALLY FACEBOOK

Everyone has a Klout score automatically generated from Twitter, which serves as the primary account. Up to 12 social media profiles can be linked to your account, with at least 6 more being added in the near future. Including more profiles creates a clearer picture of your brand’s total social impact, especially if your strongest platform is not Twitter.

Tip: Adding Facebook significantly improves your score, more than adding other platforms.
