Candace Owens Lashes Out at LeBron James: ‘If You’re Suffering Through Racism, Please Give Me Some of That’

Candace Owens Lashes Out at LeBron James: ‘If You’re Suffering Through Racism, Please Give Me Some of That’

Controversial conservative talking head Candace Owens is now aiming for Los Angeles Lakers’ basketball player LeBron James, suggesting that James should “give” her “some of that” racism he’s “suffering through.”

In an interview with Mark Levin over the weekend, Owens attacked  James on “Life, Liberty, & Levin.” Owens points out that the Lakers superstar, who speaks out on the plight of Black people in America, “lives in a one hundred million dollar mansion in Bel Air,” according to Fox News.

“I always say, if you’re suffering through racism, please give me some of that,” Owens told Levin.

“He’s got a white gardener, a white chef, all various white people that work for him, white driver,” she said. “So, if that’s racism, LeBron, please, please share some of that with the rest of us.”

Owens also claims that she has gotten newfound support among celebrities and high profile figures who don’t want to discuss their personal politics because they fear the backlash they may receive amid racial tension in the country.

“If I opened my inbox and showed you the amount of celebrities that have written to me privately, that silent majority that we’re always talking about, they’ve written to me and said, ‘I’m finally starting to see the truth. I can’t stand being in Hollywood. I’m not allowed to use my voice to say what I actually believe,” Owens said.

“These are the same celebrities that are actually posting the black squares on Instagram and saying ‘we must care about Black lives.’ And they’re saying they’re doing it basically under duress because if they don’t, they’ll lose their entire careers.”

Owens also blamed James for the recent ambush that took place in Los Angeles where several police officers were shot.

National Black Growers Council and John Deere Announce Group To Improve The Lives Of Black Farmers

National Black Growers Council and John Deere Announce Group To Improve The Lives Of Black Farmers

The National Black Growers Council, John Deere, and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund have announced a coalition focused on improving the livelihoods of Black farmers.

According to a release from the group,  it will particularly focus on the preservation of heirs’ property in rural communities throughout the United States.

“Property ownership is a driver of economic growth for individuals and families. However, too often the benefits of ownership for those who lack clear title cannot be truly realized,” said Marc Howze, Group President, Lifecycle Solutions and Chief Administrative Officer for John Deere.

The coalition, called LEAP (Legislation, Education, Advocacy, and Production Systems), will collectively address priority legislation, expand educational and advocacy opportunities to ensure Black farmers have access to the tools and technology needed to successfully navigate advanced production systems.

“Land is a farmer’s most valuable and productive asset, yet 60 percent of Black farmers operate on property that has been passed through their families for generations but for which they do not have secure title. Without secure title, Black farmers cannot leverage the full value of their land,” said Dr. Dewayne Goldmon, Executive Director of the National Black Growers Council. “We are pleased to expand our relationship with John Deere, one of our Sustaining Members, on this partnership and other areas of focus for our constituents and communities.”

The lack of a secure title has particularly affected Black farmers in the South, but there have been similar situations for Native Americans living on tribal lands and Hispanic communities in Texas and in parts of the southwestern United States and white communities in Appalachia. All of these groups will benefit from this work.

“We are delighted to expand on our existing relationship with John Deere, the NBGC, and others to tackle an issue that is critical to our communities,” said Harry Williams, President & CEO, Thurgood Marshall College Fund. “This provides an opportunity to leverage our deep roots, research, and advocacy on behalf of our land grant institutions, including law schools, to lend a voice toward addressing this systemic issue.”

“Farmers need land to plant and harvest, they need access to tools, technologies, and services that will help their operations grow and thrive,” said John C. May, Deere’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “These investments provide the means to fulfill these requirements and, in many cases, to carry on vital legacies.”

White Houston Woman Appears to Call Police on Black Census Worker, Claiming That He’s ‘Threatening’ Her

White Houston Woman Appears to Call Police on Black Census Worker, Claiming That He’s ‘Threatening’ Her

A white woman in Houston has been caught on video harassing a Black census worker who told her he was “minding my own business” before she called the police and accused him of being obnoxious and walking toward her in a threatening manner.

According to The International Business Times, the Black census worker was standing in front of her neighbor’s house as he was going door-to-door collecting data for the 2020 census. The man recorded the encounter and posted it to his Instagram account.

As the white woman is “reporting” him to the police, she clearly is attempting to make the situation seem more volatile than it is. At one point, she says into the phone, “He doesn’t need to be here. He’s yelling at me.”

To which he responds, “I’m not yelling. I’m talking loud so you can hear me.”

She then states, “He’s approaching me right now.”

The census worker stayed on the scene for two hours waiting for the arrival of police and was later told by police on the scene that the woman never called them. He posted an update.

Breonna Taylor’s Family To Receive $12 Million Settlement From Louisville

Breonna Taylor’s Family To Receive $12 Million Settlement From Louisville

Six months after the night Breonna Taylor was killed by Louisville police officers, city officials have agreed to pay her family $12 million as part of a wrongful death settlement.

The settlement of the lawsuit brought by Taylor’s family was announced Tuesday by the family’s legal team and city officials. In addition to the multi-million-dollar settlement, the city of Louisville has agreed to institute a number of reforms to the city’s policing tactics.

The changes include imposing more scrutiny on officers during the execution of search warrants. The settlement will also make safeguards that should have been followed by officers, mandatory.

Taylor and her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, were asleep the night of March 13 when Louisville Metro Police barged into her home with a no-knock warrant in relation to a drug investigation. The noise woke Taylor, who believed someone was trying to break-in. Walker, who is a registered gun owner, fired a shot toward their bedroom door.

The police responded, firing a bevy of shots toward the couple and hitting Taylor five times. One of the three officers who fired shots at Taylor has been fired for displaying “an extreme indifference to the value of human life” when he “wantonly and blindly fired 10 rounds into the apartment of Breonna Taylor,” according to the officer’s termination letter, which was posted to the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Twitter account.

Taylor’s death and George Floyd’s, who was killed by Minneapolis police in May, kicked off a summer of nationwide protests supporting the Black Lives Matter movement as well calls to defund the police in many states and reallocate funds into social services.

Both the former first lady Michelle Obama and vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris called out Taylor’s name at the Democratic National Convention last month. Oprah Winfrey erected dozens of billboards demanding justice,  WNBA players have placed her name on their jerseys, and 2020 U.S. Open Champion Naomi Osaka wore the name of Taylor and other Black victims of police brutality on her face masks in her pre- and post-match interviews.

Many are still waiting to see if charges will be brought against the three officers who shot Taylor.

Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced last week that he will present Taylor’s case before a Louisville grand jury at an undisclosed location. According to the Times, however, since the officers were fired upon first, legal experts say their actions may be protected under a state statute allowing officers to use lethal force as self-defense.

Once the grand jury decides if the case will go forward, Cameron will make a public announcement to share his office’s investigative findings and the grand jury’s decision on possible indictments for the three officers who fired their weapons that night.

Ben Jealous, president of People For the American Way said the settlement was pertinent but that does not mean the issue has been finalized.

“Today’s civil settlement between the city of Louisville, Kentucky, and Breonna Taylor’s family is appropriate and necessary in the pursuit of justice, but no amount of money can replace the life of a loved one. While police reforms are included in the settlement, justice has not been fully served because the police officers who killed Breonna remain free. Those officers must be criminally charged and banned from law enforcement. We believe all communities deserve to be safe and Breonna Taylor deserves justice.”

Entrepreneur Erica Dias Reimagines Networking During COVID-19

Several words come to mind when thinking about everything going on in the world: unpredictable, hurtful, sad, death, and fear, just to name a few. However, serial entrepreneur, visionary, and creator of Table of 20, Erica Dias is working to bring back the joy in people’s life.

Table of 20 is a unique and intimate networking experience that brings together special guests to connect with people from various cities with diverse career backgrounds. This was Dias’s 38th time hosting this event, however, due to COVID-19, her tour came to a halt.

Networking in the traditional sense is a face-to-face interaction. COVID-19 has undoubtedly changed the way traditional networking takes place. Dias explains, “Once parameters around COVID-19 were put into place and restrictions were lifted, I decided to move forward. My goal was to safely bring people together to create a much needed shared sense of goal searching, idea mapping, and networking.”

Guests were required to take a COVID-19 test, wear masks, and practice social distancing through the networking experience. Dias’s theme for this particular event was to celebrate “The Culture.” Guest arrived wearing clothing that represented better days ahead, and were given “Dream Jars.” Guests were asked to write their thoughts inside the jar and let the universe manifest.

“Everyone had an amazing time networking,” exclaims Dias. “Guest left feeling motivated, celebrated, and worthy of success in an intimate setting.”

Attendees included Dr. Contessa Metcalfe from Married to Medicine ATL, Married to Medicine LA’s Dr.Kendra Segura, Destiny Payton-Williams from Love & Marriage Huntsville, and Bring It On’s, Dianna Williams.

“As we continue to navigate the new normal it is critical that we rediscover meaningful connections that will challenge us and elevate our mindsets. Connecting with like-minded individuals that create mutually beneficial opportunities will never be a thing of the past. We just may have to do it a bit differently.”

Canada Just Launched A $221 Million Black Entrepreneurship Program

The Black Lives Matter movement has sparked new dialogues around the world. This week, Canada announced its efforts to address systemic racism.

According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the government will create a $221 million partnership with various financial institutions to establish the Black Entrepreneurship Program to aid Black businesses in the country recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has shone a light on the inequalities that disproportionately hurt Black Canadians, and has underscored the need to restart our economy in a way that allows all Canadians an equal chance to succeed,” said Trudeau in a press statement.

“That is why today–thanks in part to the leadership, advocacy, and expertise of Black business owners and Black-led organizations–we are announcing Canada’s first-ever Black Entrepreneurship Program. As we move forward, this program will help support Black entrepreneurs and create new opportunities for Black-owned businesses, so they are well-positioned for our economic recovery.”

The new program will also include $53 million to develop a new National Ecosystem Fund to support Black-owned businesses develop through mentorship programs and capital funding. Another $6.5 million will go to sustain the Black Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub to collect data on Black entrepreneurship in Canada and help identify how they can thrive. The Canadian government will contribute $93 million over the next four years as part of the partnership to help fund the various initiatives.

“Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is unwavering, and the new Black Entrepreneurship Program reflects this,” said Hon. Bardish Chagger, Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth, in a press statement.

This program was created through collaboration with Black-led organizations because Black Canadians know what their communities need best,” Chagger added. “This is another step towards removing the systemic barriers that exist within our society to create a truly inclusive Canada.”

There Were 10 Black Starting Quarterbacks on Opening Weekend in the NFL, Marking the Most in NFL History

In spite of all the turmoil presently taking place in the world regarding racial injustice and police brutality against African Americans, history was made in the sports world when 10 Black starting quarterbacks played in the NFL over the weekend.

For the first time in NFL history, there were 10 Black men anchoring the most pivotal position in football, according to TouchdownWire. The quarterbacks started on the opening weekend of the 2020 season, the most Black quarterbacks to start in an opening week in NFL history.

NFL star Cam Newton became the first Black starting quarterback in the history of the storied franchise, the New England Patriots. Newton had filled the void left by former Patriot legend, Tom Brady, who left the team to sign with The Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the offseason.

Included on this esteemed list are two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, and Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson.

Two of the Black quarterbacks went head-to-head in the opening week, Mahomes and Houston Texans’ Deshaun Watson. The Black quarterbacks secured seven wins for the first round of games last week.

The 10 quarterbacks that made history over the weekend are as follows:

  • Teddy Bridgewater – Carolina Panthers
  • Dwayne Haskins – Washington Football Team
  • Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens
  • Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs
  • Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals
  • Cam Newton – New England Patriots
  • Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys
  • Tyrod Taylor – Los Angeles Chargers
  • Deshaun Watson – Houston Texans
  • Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks

Colin Kaepernick Blasts the NFL’s Social Justice Initiatives as ‘Propaganda’ for ‘Blackballing Eric Reid’

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has come to the defense of his friend and fellow social injustice protester Eric Reid, who remains unsigned.

Kaepernick took to Twitter to blast the National Football League on its “propaganda about how they care about Black life,” yet Reid is being blackballed by the league for speaking out against the same issues he spoke up about.

Kaepernick, who was the starting quarterback in Super Bowl XLVII for the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, sparked the controversial #TakeAKnee movement after taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice in America. Reid, a teammate of Kaepernick, also kneeled in solidarity to help bring awareness to racial injustice and police brutality against Blacks.

According to Deadspin, the former Carolina Panther is currently unsigned even though he was ranked number seven in ESPN’s top 15 remaining NFL free agents. Since that list was published, every other free agent listed has received an NFL contract. This month, CBS ranked Reid, who had a terrific 2019 season, as the fourth-best available free agent, and currently is second behind wide receiver Antonio Brown.

“My agents have been in communications with teams daily, but there have been no developments,” Reid told Deadspin recently.

Reid set franchise records for a  defensive back last season with 130 tackles and four sacks for the Carolina Panthers but was let go by the team earlier this year. He not only played in all 16 games, but started every one of them. Reid, who made the Pro Bowl in the 2013 season, is only 28 years old.

Biden Campaign Outlines Events Targeting Black Voters

Biden For President, the official campaign website for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, outlined a slew of events over the next 50 days to reach out to Black voters.

The Biden campaign released a set of advertisements focused on Black Americans in battleground states including Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina, explaining why the Biden/Harris ticket is the best choice.

“This latest ad release shows the campaign’s continued push to reach Black voters while offering a snapshot of how different groups of Black Americans are dealing with the reality of living in Donald Trump’s America,” said Symone Sanders, a Biden senior adviser.

The campaign is also running several programs to reach out to Black voters, including its Shop Talk series, a reoccurring program featuring roundtable discussions on the challenges facing Black men across the country. The program was launched on the heels of the Jacob Blake shooting in Wisconsin.

The campaign is also hosting Make it Happen Mondays, a program for Black businesses and business owners. The campaign has also created its Sister to Sister program, which focuses on Black women. Senator and vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ first solo campaign event was on the Sister to Sister program.

The campaign also has a gospel program and its HBCU and Black student program, which focuses on the outreach to young, Black students who attend HBCUs as well as Black students who attend other universities.

The programs and ads are a commitment by the  Biden/Harris ticket to earn every Black vote.

“We’re literally leaving no stone unturned,” said Cameron Trimble, director of African American paid media for the Biden campaign. “Our campaign is making the largest-ever investment in African American outreach through paid media advertising programs. In addition to that, we’re making the largest ever investment in advertising with Black-owned media to make sure we’re reaching everyone.”

Kamau Marshall, the director of strategic communications for the Biden campaign, said it’s imperative to show Black Americans the damage Trump has caused to them during his first term.

“No I think part of our job is to remind the Black community of this president’s incompetence resulting in a large number of deaths in the Black community related to the coronavirus and the economic effects of the virus for Black Americans. The man has also talked bad about Nelson Mandela and John Lewis and former President Obama, so what we have to do is show people who he is,” Marshall said.

Ice Cube: U.S. Printed $3T Without Any Inflation, Government And Banks Are Colluding Against The Poor

Hip-hop legend Ice Cube has never been one to bite his tongue – and lately he’s been using his voice to rally against the government’s economic practices. Cube said the government is colluding with banks to keep people in poverty.

“America is a currency creator so there’s no reason for people to live like this. Government and the banks have made a deal to keep the people in debt. They always say if you print money it will cause inflation. They just printed 3 trillion. Little or no inflation,” Ice Cube tweeted Thursday, Sept. 3.

The tweet included a meme that showed printed money accompanied by the caption “We live in a country that creates its own money, yet still can’t afford to feed the homeless to fund education.”

It received thousands of likes and retweets. Many of Cube’s followers weighed in with their agreement.

“11 people control 1 trillion dollars..the inequality is sick,” tweeted one user. “Blame the Federal Reserve! They want to create debt and poverty, so they enslave your with debt!” tweeted another.

“You should definitely dig into how that works. You will be mindf**ked. The dollar was backed by gold at one point but the fed at one point printed more money then had gold bringing the value of the dollar down. The solution to bring the value back up? Have it backed by petroleum,” one user identified as Eduardo Flores wrote in response.

The message is just one in a series of others from Cube (born O’Shea Jackson) as the November presidential election approaches. He has criticized both major political parties for not caring about Black people.

Never hesitant to cape for his people, Cube told Black people not to vote just for the sake of voting in a video uploaded to Twitter Tuesday.

“I just want to be straight up because there’s a lot of messages going out about this election,” Cube said. “Be skeptical of anybody telling you to vote and not telling you ask for anything. … That’s not how it works. … You don’t vote just to vote. You vote because you’re getting something or your community is getting something.”

He is also calling for “A Contract with Black America,” which urges the country’s leadership to take the steps necessary to finally make America live up to being a “more perfect union.”

On it’s website, it states “This Contract with Black America is a patriotic pathway to promote our shared prosperity and achieve racial economic justice.”
