Tyler, the Creator is Seeking Young Black Creatives, Tailors and Product Developers for GOLF le FLEUR

Recording artist and fashion brand owner Tyler, the Creator has called young Black “tailors, seamstresses, product developers, technical designers, pattern makers, designers” to join his GOLF le FLEUR label team.

Instead of going the “homeboy” route or taking out an ad on Indeed or Craigslist, the creative rapper took to Twitter to incorporate some new blood into his brand.

In the Twitter post, he states he is looking for people to join his team. He warns that prospective workers can not be wack. He stipulates that he is not looking for any music, no bad graphics, no professional headshots, no fan art, and definitely no bulls**t. He is directing people to an email address listed in the Tweet.

He doubled down to prevent people from sending anything but what he is directly requesting. Tyler is promising folks that anything that doesn’t fit the criteria he is seeking will go “straight to trash.”

But, in his last post for the potential employees, he informed them that he needs samples of what can be done to make an informed decision.

If you or anyone you know would fit the bill and will be impressed by Tyler, the Creator, we suggest you send your résumé and work samples to resume@lefleur.la.

The artist seems more involved with his fashion label than with music nowadays. His Twitter feed shows recent creations that have nothing to do with his music artistry but showcase fashion pieces for his clothing brands.

Yung Miami Says Diddy’s Baby Announcement Was Old News Because He Told Her ‘Before October’

Yung Miami says she wasn’t at all surprised by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent baby announcement because the hip-hop mogul had already told her about the baby’s impending arrival.

Caresha “Yung Miami” Brownlee, 28, had the script flipped on her when she interviewed rapper G Herbo for her Caresha Please podcast. After asking the Chicago rapper several personal questions about his love life, he returned the energy by asking the City Girls member if she knew about Diddy’s new baby “before October.”

“Yeah, I did,” Yung Miami said. “I think communication is key … when you’re dealing with somebody. It wasn’t, like, a surprise.”

The “Twerkulator” hitmaker went on to call herself a “real b***h” that makes it easy for her partner to “come to [with] anything.”

“Men are so afraid of being truthful from the jump,” she explained. “They try to, like, lie a lot and you have to show that, ‘I’m a real person.’ I’m real like that.”

Herbo, 27, went on to ask Yung Miami if she plans to have more children, and she didn’t hold back.

“I’m f*****g, so if it happens, I’ll do it,” she quipped. “I’m not taking no Plan B [pills].”

Yung Miami is already a proud mother of two, son Jai, 9, and daughter Summer, 3, with exes Jai Wiggins and music producer Southside. Combs shocked the public when he took to Twitter last week to announce the arrival of his daughter Love Sean Combs, born in October, PageSix reports.

“I’m so blessed to welcome my baby girl Love Sean Combs to the world,” he tweeted. “Mama Combs, Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, D’Lila, Jessie and myself all love you so much! God is the Greatest!”

As BLACK ENTERPRISE previously reported, Combs didn’t announce the woman he welcomed his daughter with, but the baby’s birth certificate listed the mother as Dana Tran, a 28-year-old cybersecurity specialist.

Combs is already a father of six: sons Quincy, 31; Justin, 28; Christian, 24; twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie, 16; and another daughter, Chance, 16.

Emmett Till, Mother Join Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson as Recipients of Congressional Gold Medal

Honors and recognitions have been overflowing for the Till family and the crisis they experienced.

Emmett Till, the African American Chicago teenager kidnapped and murdered by white supremacists in the 1950s, and his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, were posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal after the House passed a bill on Wednesday.

According to ABC, The National Museum of African American History has been appointed as the designated holding place for the medal. It will be placed next to the casket 14-year-old Till was buried in.

“The courage and activism demonstrated by Emmett’s mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, in displaying to the world the brutality endured by her son helped awaken the nation’s conscience, forcing America to reckon with its failure to address racism and the glaring injustices that stem from such hatred,” Sen. Cory Booker said in a statement after the bill passed the Senate.

As reported by BLACK ENTERPRISE, the bill, which honors the late teen and his mother, who called for an open casket ceremony for the world to see the brutality of the lynching, passed the Senate in January.

“The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate shall make appropriate arrangements for the posthumous presentation, on behalf of Congress, of a gold medal of appropriate design in commemoration of Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley,” the bill stated.

“After the award of the gold medal referred to in subsection (a), the gold medal shall be given to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where it shall be displayed as appropriate,” the Act said.

Till was abducted by white male supremacists who lynched him for allegedly flirting with and offending a white woman in a Mississippi grocery store in 1955.

Till’s alleged gestures toward the white woman violated the South’s societal codes during that time, and the white men abducted him from his uncle’s home four days after witnesses accused Till of whistling at the woman.

The Mississippi community honored the late Till with a bronze statue in Greenwood’s Rail Spike Park, near the area where the 14-year-old was abducted.

Lizzo Gets Emotional About Her $20 Million Mansion After Her Past of Being Homeless

Lizzo is extremely grateful to be able to conduct her first interview from inside her $26 million mansion 10 years after she had to couch surf to survive.

In a preview for her upcoming interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Lizzo, 34, was asked about how it feels to be seated inside her Los Angeles mansion one decade after “sleeping in your car,” Daily Mail reports.

“Yeah, yeah. And, like, woo, staying in people’s rooms and sleeping on their couches,” Lizzo said.

The Grammy award-winning singer explained why it was a “milestone” for her to be able to come back somewhere she could call home after finishing out her tour.

“And now, on this past tour, which I was blessed to, you know, stay in really nice places, but I was like, ”I miss my house,” Lizzo said. “Like, I can’t wait to come back to my own home and to my bed.” And I was like, ”This is the first time I’ve ever said this.” So, I don’t know. It’s a milestone for me.”

Lizzo purchased the lavish home earlier this year and gave Vogue a tour of her mansion. The home sits in LA’s Echo Park region and boasts a 1950’s mid-century modern design that shows off Lizzo’s quirk personality, as noted by House Digest.

Walking through the home, guests will see orange wooden shelving, retro tufted sofas, and old record players on “Mad Men”-inspired record cabinets. Her kitchen has wood cabinets that match the retro aesthetic of her home.

Lizzo followed up the mansion purchase by snagging a Beverly Hills estate in October that was once owned by Harry Styles, The Dirt reports. The new home comes decked out with a 58-foot infinity pool.

Between the two lavish homes, Lizzo has more than enough space to accommodate guests this holiday season, as well as plenty to be grateful for.

“It’s like not having stuff for a long time, and now [that] I’ve got it, I’m going overboard,” she said. “I’m literally Santa Claus.”

Second Chance Scholarship Foundation Co-founder Named First Black Chief Justice of Ontario

This Black man has made an impact in his community and the courts.

Michael Tulloch, who has maneuvered from a Crown attorney to a judge on the Superior Court, has made history by becoming the first Black chief justice on the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Tulloch as the new Chief Justice of Ontario and President of the Court of Appeal for Ontario on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022.

According to Toronto Star, Tulloch replaces Chief Justice George Strathy, who retired in August, drawing praise from community leaders and colleagues, including Justice Patrick LeSage, who has been impressed with Tulloch since he was a Crown attorney in the 1990s.

Toronto entrepreneur and civil rights activist Denham Jolly shared his belief that Tulloch, who he has known for over 30 years, is brilliant and will amplify diversity, saying Tulloch’s appointment “will send the message that there’s going to be fairness, as much as it’s in his ability.”

After being called by the previous Liberal provincial government to lead two reviews on police oversight and police street checks, Tulloch released a report in 2017 recommending better transparency from the Special Investigations Unit that usually kept investigation incidents hidden from the public.

“Those reports were essential reading for anyone who practices in the justice system, and it shows he has a keen understanding of how police interact with the public and how that can impact our confidence in the justice system,” said lawyer Daniel Brown, president of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association.

Lawyer Danielle Robitaille praised Tulloch’s emotional intelligence and ability to connect with a wide array of stakeholders, saying, “He could make himself completely approachable in meetings involving police unions, and also meetings involving mothers of sons who had been shot dead by police.”

University of Windsor law professor David Tanovich added to the praise, sharing Tulloch’s abilities to address the challenges of anti-Black racism.

Tulloch co-founded the Second Chance Scholarship Foundation alongside his work in the courts, helping young adults who have come into conflict with the law.

Tulloch was born in Jamaica and received his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was admitted to the Ontario bar in 1991, practiced as a Crown attorney, and progressed in his career as a criminal defense lawyer before he was appointed to Superior Court in 2003.

Meet Bishop Larry Cook Who Purchased North Minneapolis Gas Station to Drive Out Crime

Meet Bishop Larry Cook, the pastor behind Real Believers Faith Center in North Minneapolis who purchased a nearby gas station to help reduce crime in the area.

North Minneapolis’ Marathon Gas Station had been plagued with high drug use and crime for years, KSTP reports. But all that changed when Cook’s congregation decided to take matters into their own hands by purchasing the gas station in November and turning it into “The Lion’s Den.”

“You’re not going to ever see somebody hanging out because we put a stop to that,” Cook said. “We didn’t say that you’re not welcome, but we said you can’t sell drugs here.”

After purchasing the gas station, Cook sought to recruit some of the people who previously used the gas station for illegal activity. The new staff is now helping Cook by working at the church located right behind the gas station.

“I wanted to talk to the guys that were out here because I see a lot of value in them,” Cook said.

“My idea is to sit here and to catch all the fish that I can catch.”

In addition to cleaning up the area, the church aims to transform the lives of those who used to hang out at the gas station and have since become church employees.

“We’re trying to clean this up, give people hope and change their mindset,” Sharon Cook, Real Believers Faith Center assistant pastor said. “There’s more to life than getting high, hanging out or gangbanging,”

“One person at a time, one block at a time, one church at a time, together we can do it,” she added.

Cook had plans of purchasing the gas station for some time and when he finally did, he and his wife were “elated,” he told Fox 9. He shared his goal of raising awareness of his church as well as adding to its infrastructure in the form of smart business investments.

“To control the corner. To spread our influence of who we are as a church and what we do as a ministry,” Cook said. “Also, to take advantage of the economic power that it can give our church.”

Brittney Griner, Paul Whelan

Brittney Griner Asks Supporters To Join Her In Writing Letters To Paul Whelan

WNBA star Brittney Griner has asked her supporters to join her in writing letters to former Marine Paul Whelan, according to CBS News. Griner was released from a Russian penal colony on Dec. 8 in a trade that many hoped would include Whelan.

Griner shared the handwritten letter on Instagram complete with an address where supporters can reach Whelan. The 32-year-old also noted how much the letters she received while in Russia helped her to cope and not lose hope.

“Thanks to the efforts to many, including you, I am home after nearly 10 months,” she wrote. “You took time to show me you cared and I want to personally take the time to write to you and say that your effort mattered. Your letters helped me to not lose hope during a time where I was full of regret and vulnerable in ways I could have never imagined.”

“Your letters were also bigger than uplifting me,” she continued. “They showed me the power of collective hands. Together, we can do hard things. I’m living proof of that. My family’s whole and now, thanks to you, we are fortunate to get to spend the holidays together.”

“However, there remain too many families with loved ones wrongfully detained,” she said. “Those families stood alongside you and all who supported the WeAreBG Campaign to bring me home and it’s our turn to support them. I hope you’ll join me in writing to Paul Whelan and continuing to advocate for other Americans to be rescued and returned to their families.”

Griner was released from captivity in a trade between the U.S. and Russia on Dec. 8. She was exchanged for convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout. Griner was arrested in Moscow last February after a vape cartridge was found in her luggage. The Biden administration had been working on a trade for Griner and Whelan. Whelan was arrested in Moscow in December 2018. He was convicted of espionage and sentenced to 16 years in prison. Biden said that he was unable to include Whelan in the trade due to Russia treating his case more seriously.

“Sadly and for totally illegitimate reasons, Russia is treating Paul’s case differently than Brittney’s. And while we have not yet succeeded in securing Paul’s release, we are not giving up,” said Biden.

Clive Davis Confirms Whitney Houston’s ‘Teenage Affair’ With Longtime Friend Robyn Crawford

Music producer Clive Davis confirmed the relationship between Whitney Houston and her longtime friend Robyn Crawford. His new film, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody, is currently in theaters.

Davis spoke with Extra about the new biopic and confirmed the rumor that Houston had a romantic relationship with Crawford. Davis collaborated with Houston on her greatest hits and was also friends with the recording artist until her death in 2012 at the age of 48. Crawford also confirmed her relationship with Houston in her book, A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston. Davis said that the film sets the record straight.

“They did have a teenage, one-year affair,” said Davis.

“There have been so many articles that have attempted to trace her addiction to being a frustrated lesbian that she never dated a man before Bobby, all of which was totally inaccurate. I know of several men that she dated before Bobby. I mean, she did see Jermaine Jackson for two years.”

Davis also told People he wanted to set the record straight once and for all about the rumor.

“Knowing all the questions people wanted to know about Whitney, I decided it’s only right to do a film and answer all the questions, whether it’s about her sexuality, her marriage, her dependence on drugs at a certain part of her career, how she and I worked together,” he said. “Then — big time — the music. How do you celebrate the music? All those great copyrights. We clearly decided it would have to be Whitney’s voice.”

The 90-year-old music mogul also recalled his last conversation with the superstar just two days before her death. Houston was going to surprise Davis by singing for him at the Grammys. However,  she died tragically on Feb. 11, 2012, inside her suite at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The singer was found dead in the bathtub. The cause of death was ruled as “drowning” and the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use.”

“My real last conversation with her was 48 hours before she passed away. I was in L.A., we were getting ready for my Grammy party. I didn’t know she was going to surprise me and sing there. We spent the whole afternoon together. She wanted to assure me, and this is hard to express, that she had beaten her addiction. Not only to drugs, but to cigarette smoking. I had no clue that her passing was abruptly to come.”

Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody hit the theaters on Dec. 23.

Akon, Senegal

Proud Polygamist Akon Defends Nick Cannon ‘Spreading His Seed’ With Multiple Women

Musician Akon is a proud polygamist who has openly shared his belief of being able to “afford” to have multiple wives. So no shocker, the singer “100 percent” supports Nick Cannon having almost 12 children with multiple women.

Billboard reports the “Smack That” hitmaker appeared on The Zeze Millz Show this week, where he touched on his polygamist views which he credits to his Senegalese culture. When Millz asked Akon if he agreed “with Nick Cannon and the spreading of his seed, Akon explained why he “100 percent!’ supports Cannon.

“I agree with him one-thousand percent. That’s how life is supposed to be,” Akon said.

“Why not? He’s rich … He’s responsible. He takes care of every one of those children … And the baby mothers with it. And they hurt for nothing and they live comfortably!”

When Millz pushed back and tried explaining why children need more from their father than just financial support, Akon doubled down on how Cannon has enough to care for his 11 children and counting.

“He’s there for every one of them,” Akon fired back. “He’s there for every single one of those kids. I got nine [kids] and I’m there for every one of mine.”

Millz asked Akon if he was able to be a fully present father to each of his nine children, including attending every “recital.”

“So every single time, you’re at every single recital?” Millz asked.

But Akon shut down the idea of attending a recital as “a white man’s thing.”

“No, that’s a white man’s thing. Who gives a fu*k about a recital?” he quipped.

After the snide clap back, Akon explained what he believes a father is supposed to provide for their child.

“No, seriously. Listen, my job is to raise my kids, to be responsible, to be understanding, to protect their mother, to give a hand with their father, and to assist with family planning, and to be responsible adults,” he said.

“Now, guess what? While I’m taking care of my responsibility to make sure the family has a roof over their head and food, if I have the time to do that and show love, yes, I will do that. But my responsibility is to make sure they grow up responsible and strong.”

The Grammy Award-winning singer admitted that while communication is key, he cannot be there physically for each of his children. But according to Akon, it’s the mother’s job to be with the children, while the father’s job is to provide for the mother and children.

“You can’t expect a man to conquer the world if he’s there with his children,” Akon said.

When Millz asked Akon why he didn’t opt for having only a few children that he could bring on the road with him, the Senegalese superstar shot back, saying traveling with children is so “womanistic.”

“Why would you wanna take children all around the world with a man?” he asked. “That’s so womanistic.”

“What man do you know is gonna run around with his children? You know how weak that looks? Who does that?”
