She disclosed that the effects of her stroke caused her to lose her essential motor functions and cognitive abilities.

“I had to learn how to walk, learn how to talk, learn how to eat, learn how to swallow,” Pearson said, and in certain moments her speech appears slurred. She also revealed that she continues to see a speech therapist, according to Complex.

Activism Group Clears $1.7M in Student Debt for Graduating Class of Nearly 500 All-Women HBCU

The Rolling Jubilee Fund, a nonprofit, and the Debt Collective advocacy group have announced their partnership to cover the $1.7 million tab in student debt for HBCU Bennett College, an all-woman institution in Greensboro, North Carolina.

On Friday, the United Negro College Fund revealed the generous gift to 462 lucky graduates in the class of 2022.

Bennett College released a statement to clear up any misinterpretations about the cancellation: “We understand that this has been an exceptionally challenging time and want to ease people’s burdens. The debts that were erased for these 462 individuals were debts owed directly to the school. These debts are different from federal and private student loans, which we do not have the ability to cancel because they are owned by the federal government.”

Per USA Today, Bennett College President Suzanne Walsh initially ignored the email from the Debt Collective promising to cancel the overdue bills at her school. She was skeptical about the proposition to wipe out $1.7 million in debt. However, once officials of the HBCU spoke to the activist group, they realized how real this blessing was.

According to a statement released by Braxton Brewington, a representative for the Debt Collective, Bennett College was chosen to receive the debt relief due to data that revealed Black women were more prone to student loan debt than any other demographic of student loan borrowers.

“These are the people that are really taking the brunt of the student debt crisis,” Brewington said.

News of the $1.7 million cleared for Bennett College graduates comes just after President Joe Biden announced the White House’s nearing decision to clear only $10,000 of debt per borrower, after his presidential campaign run promised the cancellation of all federal student loan debt.

His administration shares that the president is continuing to weigh his options and that no final decision has been made, reports the Hill

Since Biden has effectively paused student loan payments since the start of the pandemic, many critics propose full cancellation is possible, as the pause has not made any notable economic impact.

A Texas Father Stands Guard At Wife’s and Child’s Elementary School To Provide Relief To Parents

A Texas Father Stands Guard At Wife’s and Child’s Elementary School To Provide Relief To Parents

A concerned father in Killeen, Texas, is taking action into his own hands after the devastating massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. He now is standing guard at the elementary school where his wife works as a nurse and his daughter attends to ensure their last days of the school year can end safely, according to news outlet KBTX.

Ed Chelby was shaken after May 24, 2022, when 18-year-old gunman Salvador Rolando Ramos opened fire, fatally shooting nineteen students and two teachers, according to CNN.

“I can’t let this go,” said Chelby, according to the Independent. “This is just a testament to the sleeplessness caused by the grief I experienced.”

Chelby wrote an email to the Killeen Independent School District Superintendent, Dr. John Craft, requesting permission to stand outside in front of Saegert Elementary School’s main entrance for the last two days, KWTX reports.

“I humbly request to provide security services unarmed. I’ll be just in front of the school. I don’t wish to enter the school but I just want to be there for my kids. I want to be there for my wife, who is also an employee at that school,” Chelby said to KWKT.

“I said I would just be out there unarmed to let people know that I’m watching. Let the parents have a little bit of relief,” he said.

Chelby has 11 years of experience in the US Army and a background in security; he is accustomed to remaining alert at a post. Killeen is located about 175 miles northwest of the Uvalde shooting; an investigation of the terrible incident is ongoing, according to the Independent.

Chelby’s volunteer paperwork was filled out, and his background check was being processed, but the school district went ahead and permitted him.

His presence at the school’s campus tempered the fears of other parents.

“I had a lot of emotional people come up to me. They didn’t want to send their kids to school. They struggled with sending their kids to school and I told them, I was like, ‘I got them,'” Chelby told KWTX.

“You don’t know if you should send your kid to school,” Chelby said, according to the Independent. “You want them to get their education and their experience of the last days of school, but you want to protect them with everything you got.”

Another parent joined Chelby, a mother by the name of Constance, told him, “I got your back,” and she assumed the post of guarding the back of the elementary school.

“Him standing in front of the school, that’s reassuring – feeling that we get to go home and see our families this summer,” said parent Samantha Longfeather-Locke.

Father of 33 Kids Claps Back at Social Media Calling Him ‘Irresponsible and Nasty’ After Family Picture Goes Viral

Father of 33 Kids Claps Back at Social Media Calling Him ‘Irresponsible and Nasty’ After Family Picture Goes Viral

Father of 33 children Demond George recently posted a family picture on Facebook, which quickly went viral on social media. Soon after, George responded to the backlash of being called “irresponsible and nasty” by going live on Facebook.

“Pull out game ain’t weak, I just don’t pull out,” the 34-year-old father says in the video. “You n—– got three or four [kids] and don’t do a motherf—— thing. Ain’t s— weak over here. My pockets not weak, and my d— sure ain’t weak.”

In the original post of over 20 images of the family photo shoot, he captioned it, “The LEGEND The LEGACY WILL LIVE FOREVER.” After thanking his nine children’s mothers for making the shoot possible, he ends the post with “9 missing it still turned out good I’m truly blessed.”

George has since put his Facebook on private after being dragged on all social platforms for being “weird and disgusting.” Many called out the father of 33 for male entitlement and that there’d be no way he would be able to give all those children the attention they deserve as they grow up.

One user asked, “‘Legacy’ OF WHAT??? What he was done in life worthy of being kept alive? What has he build for these kids? What are the things he has done that will feed whole generations? NOTHING. This is just male entitlement and lack of responsibility.”

https://twitter.com/qdrizzyueen/status/1529796313142943744?s=20&t=vs5YmYiIhbaKZuM_SAaM4A

While many others came to his defense, quoting “be fruitful and multiply,” or speculating he’d be present and financially responsible for the children’s lives, George states multiple times how his baby mothers know he’s broke, despite flaunting “20 grand, cash” in the video and having four bank accounts.

Another user compares him to Nick Cannon and thanks his contribution to repopulating the planet. “That why Kings had multiple wives… man seed was to spread and as statistics tells it this year alone was the lowest birth rate in a generation so Kudos to him n Nick for repopulating the earth.”

George claimed to be a truck driver, which actually makes one question how he would find the time to be present in his 33 children’s lives.

Travis Scott Hit With Another Lawsuit for Allegedly Inciting Stampede at 2019 Rolling Loud Show

Travis Scott has landed yet another lawsuit for his wild performances, this time his Rolling Loud Miami performance in 2019 being in the spotlight, where he allegedly stirred up a stampede.

According to documents obtained by Rolling Stone, a May 10 complaint alleged Scott was told by police to cut his performance “due to the crowd becoming dangerous and uncontrollable.”

Filed by Marchelle Love, and on behalf of a child and guardian initialed U.M., the complaint reportedly places blame on Scott for inciting the crowd to form mosh pits while his performance was stopped which caused confusion and panic, resulting in “multiple stampedes.”

Much like his fatal 2021 Astroworld Festival, Scott stands accused of continuing to encourage chaos in the frenzied crowd despite being able to see fans being crushed.

“Despite the fact that Travis Scott was aware of and could clearly see concertgoers being injured, suffocating, losing consciousness, fighting and being trampled, he continued his performance while authorities were forced to attempt to render aid to these injured concertgoers,” claimed the documents.

A representative for Scott told the outlet that this lawsuit is nothing but a “blatant, cynical attempt to attack” the 31-year-old rapper. They assert this is a false report that actually involved a “shooting mid-show, completely unrelated to Travis’s performance.”

Love alleges she suffered unknown “permanent” and “severe injuries” that consisted of “bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care treatment, loss of earnings, loss of ability to earn money, and aggravation of a previously existing condition,” per the complaint.

The filing also names Sequel Tour Solutions, LLC and SLS Consulting, LLC, where Love seeks a trial jury and over $30,000 in damages.

In addition to being the defendant to roughly 500 lawsuits stemming from the Astroworld tragedy, as well as a new filing of nearly 5,000 claiming injuries, on May 12, an additional wrongful death suit came from a woman who alleged she suffered a miscarrage after injuries sustained at the festival.

Scott has persistently rejected being responsible for the tragedy.

Former ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Cast Member Hazel E Allegedly Has A Bun In The Oven

Former ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Cast Member Hazel E Allegedly Has A Bun In The Oven

Former “Love & Hip Hop” cast member Hazel E, born Arica Adams-Waller, is reportedly pregnant with baby number two. She will likely make a public announcement soon even though the rapper has not confirmed the news, according to news outlets.

Hazel E shares an almost-two-year-old daughter, Ava Dior Waller, born June 15, 2020, with model and husband De’Von Waller.

Hazel E said that motherhood is the “best thing in the world,” which made her more docile, she said in an interview with Cheat Sheet. “Being a hands-on, full-time mom with Ava has made me learn a lot of patience and helped me to love unconditionally. And it’s giving me a different sense of fulfillment than I’ve ever had with any other thing I’ve ever done before.”

Fans have been dropping their observations on her Instagram page, noting how she is conspicuously hiding her supposed pregnancy in her pictures.

“She’s definitely hiding that pregnancy,” wrote one user.

“You expecting,, you got that glow,” posted another fan.

Hazel and De’Von started dating in 2019 and wed on October 6 of the same year, according to Cheat Sheet.

In her 2020 interview with Cheat Sheet, Hazel described being married to De’Von as they approached their first anniversary.

“When you get married, and you make a commitment in front of God, your family, and close friends, you take on a different accountability in this world because you’re somebody’s wife.”

Her husband expressed his joy in making his dream of having a family a reality.

“I always wanted to have my own little family and now since I have it, it’s like my dream come true,” De’Von said about his new family.

De’Von revealed that his love for Hazel E is true and did not view her as an opportunity. “I already knew at the end of the day, we were gonna be one.”

Tank Says He ‘Was Blown Away’ By Kelly Rowland’s ‘Amazing’ Vocal Talent And That Destiny’s Child Was ‘Set Up To Adore Beyonce’

R&B singer/songwriter Tank incurred the wrath of the BeyHive when he shared his thoughts that Kelly Rowland was overlooked for Destiny’s Child lead singer Beyoncé during a recent episode of Revolt’s Drink Champs with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN, according to Hot New Hip Hop.

When co-host N.O.R.E asked if Tank worked with Beyoncé, the “Compliments” artist corrected him and said he collaborated with Rowland.

“I worked with Kelly Rowland and I was completely thrown the f–k off. Because we always want to give the credit to Beyoncé, who is Beyoncé — the greatest of all time,” he added.

“Kelly Rowland is by far one of the most talented females I’ve ever worked with in my life.”

“And I was sitting in the studio like ‘Do y’all hear these harmonies? Do you hear her voice? The texture, the changes and dynamics — are y’all hearing this?’ I never knew!” he continued, taken aback by Rowland’s powerhouse talent. “Cause I gave all the credit to Beyoncé. That’s how the business of Destiny’s Child was set up. To adore Beyoncé.”

While the “Maybe I Deserve” crooner wasn’t intentionally attempting to downplay Beyoncé’s vocal prowess or success, Tank appeared to give Rowland her flowers, apologizing for the music industry ignoring her technique and talent.

However, Twitter weighed in with their opinions about Tank’s comments on the podcast.

Late last month, Rowland hinted at a possible Destiny’s Child reunion, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“We love everybody so much that we wouldn’t toy with it, but I do think that… you would deserve a surprise,” Rowland said to Entertainment Tonight. “I feel like everything is just so planned so we see it before it happens and we see the process right after it happens. It’s just a lot. We deserve spontaneity. We desire to be surprised and I would hope Destiny’s Child would be a pleasant surprise.”

N.O.R.E Ends Speculation That His Twitter Posts About The Lack Of Black Media From Hip Hop Artists Was About Cardi B

N.O.R.E Ends Speculation That His Twitter Posts About The Lack Of Black Media From Hip Hop Artists Was About Cardi B

Podcaster N.O.R.E. of Drink Champs, whom he co-hosts with DJ E.F.N. on Diddy’s Revolt network, aired his beef on social media with Hip Hop artists bypassing Black press to go to white-mainstream media outlets. However, he clarified he was not explicitly targeting Cardi B, according to AllHipHop.

The “Nothin” rapper set his Twitter fingers ablaze when he posted on Wednesday, “I have been the best to this culture I have always put hiphop first and I see u guys go to Ellen and David letterman’s and Zane lows and treat them wit more respect then the culture but u say u want black excellence”

Now based in Miami, the former emcee continued with his Twitter tirade about the lack of media access to artists for urban outlets.

“Imma be honest even going to [Oprah Winfrey] or [Gayle King] is trash at this point!!! We control our culture why go outside of it!!!”

The 44-year-old Queens, New York native added, “David Letterman is my favorite but man why go there or Ellen before [Million Dollaz Worth of Game] or [The Joe Budden Podcast] or [Drink Champs] or even Twitter s***!!!”

Last week, Netflix streamed the latest season of the My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, which featured an interview with Cardi B.

However, N.O.R.E., born Victor Santiago, Jr., made sure to sort out AllHipHop’s reference to Cardi B’s Letterman appearance as the subject of his ire, saying he wasn’t “talking about” the “Finesse” artist.

N.O.R.E. is not the first Black media personality to air out his grievances on how members of the Black media are treated in the industry. Many Black journalists, bloggers, and radio hosts have long heralded the clarion call for change, according to In Club Magazine.

Charlamagne Tha God has spoken about this issue repeatedly on his radio show The Breakfast Club with co-hosts DJ Envy and Angela Yee and supported N.O.R.E.’s stance.

“The publicist and label will come to Black outlets and say, ‘Don’t ask this. Don’t ask that.’ But when they sit with the white outlets, they will say, ‘we are open to discuss anything.’ So that to me is where the respect is because you are giving these white outlets the soundbites that go viral, and you make those persons platforms bigger,” Charlamagne said.

D.J. Envy and Angela Yee also opined that Cardi has remained true to the culture of Hip Hop and the Black community at large, according to Ace Showbiz.

“I will say one thing about Cardi. Cardi does a lot of the things that a lot of artists won’t do. She goes to a lot of those places, so I doubt he was talking to Cardi.”

“But Cardi does interviews with everybody, she still touches the club, she still goes out to black-owned restaurants, she still supports a lot of the DJs that helped her out, that came up on her,” Envy said. “But I do feel that when artists blow up, they don’t go to a lot of the places that helped them get there and they start doing the crossover thing and I think that’s wack.”
