Actor Michael Ealy Once Wanted To Punch Chris Rock In The Face

Will Smith slapping Chris Rock will continue to reverberate throughout cinematic history. Though he is the only actor who expressed his frustration at the comedian’s constant jabbing of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, he is not alone. Actor Michael Ealy also fantasized about punching Rock in the face.

Ealy recalls when the comic hurled a cruel dig at him as an up-and-coming actor, according to a 2019 interview with the Chicago Tribune.

The handsome blue-eyed actor was asked about the worst moment in his career, and he spoke about the time he was on set for the 2002 film Bad Company starring Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock.

Director Joel Schumacher decided to write a small part for him to play.

“Chris Rock was a little cold. He was probably at the height of his career at this point, and I idolized him — I had watched all his stuff and thought he was so funny, and I really respected him — but he was just kind of indifferent to me,” says the “Barbershop” actor, the Chicago Tribune reports.

He continues with his story of having to participate in reshoots for the movie’s ending for the wedding scene between Rock and Washington.

“So we’re about to shoot this scene, I’m in my tux, I come on set, and Chris and Kerry are standing there, and…Chris looks over at me, and he says: ‘Oh (pause). Still in the business, huh?”

Ealy took Rock’s comment personally because Rock’s jab insinuated that he is surprised he is lasting in the industry. Washington came to his defense and rebuked her co-star’s rudeness.

“And mind you, we didn’t speak much on set in the first place. For whatever reason he didn’t talk to me much. He was a big star and I had a small part, and maybe he didn’t think I was going to be around much, so he didn’t think it was important to be nice to me.

“I just stayed professional and did my best, but I was stuck there having to look like I’m happy to be at my friend’s wedding when really at this point, I wanted to punch him in the f—— face. The crying came later. In the moment, I wanted to punch him in the face. That was my Maryland upbringing coming into play (laughs) where you just fight,” he reveals.

As Ealy moved forward in his career and eventually garnered a Golden Globe nomination for his 2005 Showtime drama “Sleeper Cell.” He remembers running into the Rock at the Golden Globes ceremony.

“And you know what he said? ‘I love your work, and I apologize for what I said.’

“I forgive easy, but can you imagine if he hadn’t remembered that we had worked together on a movie before? That would have been the second punch, right?” he humorously discloses.

Ealy held a grudge against Rock until they met up at the Globes and buried the hatchet.

“But it also taught me early on how to treat people. I really learned that working with Will Smith and Halle Berry — when I worked with them, they both knew everybody’s name on the crew and they spoke to every actor, whether they were background or guest star.”

Ealy upholds the attitude that being cordial in this business is essential. He is grateful for his experience with Rock because it taught him how to cope in a high-pressure Hollywood environment.

The Woman Named ‘Shay Johnson,’ Who Said She’s Tyre Sampson’s Cousin Is Not A Relative

The Woman Named ‘Shay Johnson,’ Who Said She’s Tyre Sampson’s Cousin Is Not A Relative

The woman who identified herself as “Shay Johnson,” the cousin of Tyree Sampson, the 14-year-old from Missouri, who plunged to his death while riding the Free Fall Drop Tower at Orlando’s Icon Park with his football teammates, is not related to teen according to his family, the Orlando Sentinel reports

The Orlando Sentinel uncovered “Johnson’s” true identity, her legal name is Lewishena Lavonia Browning, 32. She has paraded before the media giving interview on behalf of Sampson’s family, hugging well-wishers, signing petitions, and leading a vigil outside the Free Fall ride, WFTV-Channel 9 reports

In one news interview, Browning wore sunglasses appearing distraught as she recounted the final moments leading up to the teenager attending the ride which is reportedly a fabrication.

Tyre’s mother spoke with the Orange County Sheriff’s office and told detectives that “she does not know who Shay Johnson is,” said Michelle Guido, the sheriff’s spokesperson. The attorneys representing the family said that none of the family members claim to know Browning.

Browning’s employer, Flash Dancers, terminated her from the adult entertainment club once her deception was uncovered.

” I feel terrible about it,” said William Sierer in a phone interview with the Orlando Sentinel.

Sierer said while in his employ the Browning went by  “Shay” when she worked in the club but Lewishena Browning is the name the establishment has on file.

Criminal records show that Browning has been arrested four times in Orange County on domestic violence charges and for driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

She is currently awaiting trial facing charges of felony arson and criminal mischief for setting a car on fire in August, based on court records, Orlando Sentinel reports.

First Look of Regina King Transformation As First Black Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm in New Biopic

New photos have been released of Academy Award-winner Regina King’s portrayal of Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress, and the resemblance is astounding. In the first look pictures, King is seen wearing Chisholm’s signature updo and glasses, sending fans reeling that another Oscar is the bag for the actress.

An upcoming Netflix biopic of the Unbought and unbossed trailblazing politician titled Shirley is currently in production in King’s hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

This has been the first time King has been seen since the untimely passing of her only son, Ian Alexander, Jr., at the end of January.

Participant, the leading media company dedicated to bringing inspirational stories to the masses and aims to motivate viewers to engage in positive social action, announced last February that it will produce the feature film.

The biopic is slated to be written and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker John Ridley and produced by King and her Royal Ties Productions, while Jeff Skoll and Anikah McLaren will executive produce the film.

“Shirley Chisholm’s fearless determination has been an inspiration to so many of us, and with this film we hope to inspire many generations to come,” King said in a written statement. “To collaborate once again with my friend and mentor, John Ridley, and the team at Participant, makes this decade-long journey even sweeter.”

Shirley will chronicle the Brooklyn congresswoman’s 1972 presidential campaign, where she made history as the first woman and first Black woman to seek nomination for president of the United States.

King will star alongside Terrance Howard, who is set to play Chisholm’s husband, private investigator Conrad Chisholm.

“Regina’s passion for bringing a complete and very human portrait of Shirley to life has been evident since literally the day we first met. I’m very thankful to both Regina and Reina trusting me to partner in telling the story of this truly remarkable individual,” Ridley shared.

We send strength and love to King following her decision to resume acting.

Pharrell Williams Talks About Improving Black Entrepreneurship And Ownership: ‘There’s Not Enough’

Pharrell Williams Talks About Improving Black Entrepreneurship And Ownership: ‘There’s Not Enough’

Grammy Award artist Pharrell Williams and Black Ambition CEO Felecia Hatcher spoke with Bloomberg TV about Black ownership.

Hatcher discussed how the organization provides capital, mentorship, strategic partnerships, and high-level customers for burgeoning Black entrepreneurs.

“We funded 34 really amazing Black Lantix and HBCUs startups last year. We worked with close to 300 entrepreneurs and took them through a five-month cohort-style mentorship program, and we are looking to double our impact this coming year with our 2022 prize competition,” Hatcher said to Bloomberg Markets. “And this is all the brainchild, the passions, the connections of Pharrell Williams, our founder of Black Ambition, really being ambitious with funding and supporting Black and Latinx entrepreneurship at the highest level.”

Williams, 48, said the three pillars of society that are significant hurdles in the Black community he names are “the disappropriate access to education, healthcare medicine, and representation.”

The award-winning producer said that when those pillars are amply supported in a community, individuals realize there is no ceiling in what they can accomplish. However, it is more challenging to have a voice when a community is deprived of those elements.

“Show me a neighborhood where there is ample access to healthcare, education, and representation, and I’ll show you where there are a lot of businesses,” explained Williams.

When host Caroline Hyde then posed a question to Williams, asking him if there is enough Black leadership in the music industry, a market that will be worth $31 billion worldwide in 2022 based on the Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2018-2022 report, according to Music Biz.com

“There’s not enough Black leadership. There’s not enough leadership from people of color,” said the Virginia native entrepreneur. “But there’s also not enough ownership — there just isn’t. As much as the music industry has given me when you really love something or love someone, you can be honest about the things that could be better. I gotta say that the ownership with people of color; it’s just not been the same. And that’s something we’re working on now.”

He expounded that not only are the leadership roles for most record companies held by most non-people of color, but artists also lack ownership of their work by not retaining the copyrights.

Serena Williams’ Half Sister Weighs In on Will Smith Slap: ‘He Should Be Stripped Of’

Sabrina Williams, the estranged daughter of the Williams’ patriarch, Richard, whom Will Smith won an Oscar for his portrayal, is dropping her two cents about the infamous slap.

After nearly every celebrity has come out the woodworks to share their opinions about Smith and their suggested repercussions of the Oscar-winner, the eldest daughter of five from Richard’s first marriage that he walked out on, adds herself to the list of those coming for Smith’s head.

“So Will Smith got angry, went overboard and assaulted another person,” Sabrina told The U.S. Sun. “Then you just can’t apologize two minutes later, you lost your mind. Wow. I agree he should be stripped of the Oscar.”

After sharing that she too suffers from alopecia, for which Chris Rock’s distasteful joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith earned him the smack, Sabrina shared that that did not excuse Smith’s reaction.

“I have alopecia, I can relate to that because I have alopecia really bad. But it’s not the time or place. If somebody offends you, you let them know in a private setting – ‘Hey, you offended my wife, I did laugh at the joke, but my wife was offended.’ But just to go on stage in the middle of an event and slap somebody, walk back down, and then yell from your seat. That’s just not appropriate,” she said.

The 57-year-old continued to scold Smith’s behavior, claiming she has no sympathy for the actor and that he should seek therapy for such a violent outlash.

“If they don’t take the thing from him, they should ban him from attending the event ever again, as that’s just ridiculous,” she shared. “He probably needs to seek counseling. I’m not saying he has mental health issues but maybe he can talk to somebody because that’s not appropriate behavior.”

King Richard himself weighed in on the debacle in a statement via his son Chavoita LeSane, “We don’t know all the details of what happened. But we don’t condone anyone hitting anyone else unless it’s in self-defense,” reports NBC News.

Smith has since apologized twice for the incident and even resigned his membership from the Academy.

Joshua Fleetwood Charged in Lakevia Jackson’s Murder After Fight Over Bowling Ball

Joshua Fleetwood Charged in Lakevia Jackson’s Murder After Fight Over Bowling Ball

As previously reported, gun violence claimed the life of 31-year-old Lakevia Jackson, rapper Young Thug’s baby mother, at Atlanta’s Metro Fun Center in mid-March. Atlanta police have now arrested and charged a man for her murder, following an argument about a bowling ball.

Just before 11 p.m. on March 18, Jackson was shot and killed by 25-year-old Joshua Fleetwood, who was on a date at the bowling alley next to Jackson’s family.

According to WSBTV, Jackson and the woman Fleetwood was on a date with began arguing over a bowling ball. The suspect reportedly hung back in the parking lot of the complex for 20 minutes with the plan to shoot Jackson as she left.

Police say that upon leaving, the argument sparked back up and someone from each side began shooting at each other after retrieving guns from their cars. In the exchange of gunfire, Jackson suffered the life-threatening injuries as the shooter drove away. Warrants for Fleetwood’s arrest came three days after the senseless shooting.

Fleetwood was arrested on Thursday by the Atlanta Police Department’s Fugitive Unit, thanks to the help of U.S. Marshals Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Taskforce, reports CBS News. He has a record of being arrested 16 times, including charges for fraud, narcotics, eluding police and criminal trespass, per APD’s homicide commander, Lt. Ralph Woolfolk.

“We talk about conflict resolution time and time again, and once again, this is an escalated dispute over a bowling ball,” he said.

Atlanta has seen an increase in violent crime, police revealing homicides were up 41%.

Fleetwood has been charged with felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is currently in custody at the Fulton County Jail, scheduled for court this coming Friday.

“We are happy that Mr. Fleetwood is in our custody,” said Woolfolk.

Jackson’s mother, Sherina Jackson, describes her daughter as “sweet, kind and loving.” She leaves behind a 14-year-old son with the Atlanta rapper.

Venus And Serena Williams Step-Mother Files Bankruptcy To Save Family Home

The step-mother of Venus and Serena Williams, Lakeisha Williams, 43, has allegedly filed for bankruptcy in hopes of maintaining the home that her estranged husband Richard Williams taught the two tennis icons how to play the sport, according to Radar Online.

Richard, 80, purchased the property for $355,000 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with his ex-wife Oracene Price before they divorced in 2002, reports Radar Online. The property was set for auction in February 2021, but Lakeisha, Richard’s current soon-to-be ex-wife, filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy the day before the house was scheduled to be sold, Thirsty For News reports.

Individuals often use Chapter 13 to prevent their homes from being foreclosed and sold off, which annoys the lender, according to the Daily Mail.

Lakeisha is pleading with a judge in Palm Beach to cease the divorce proceedings while she attempts to save the residence, according to Daily Mail.

Richard and Lakeisha wed in 2009, and they share a 9-year-old son named Dylan. Lakeisha said she lived in the nearly dilapidated house when she split from Richard in 2017.

“It would never be in that condition if Richard was still there. He adored that place. Richard is a wonderful man. I wouldn’t hear a word said against him. We were neighbors for many years. Serena and Venus were just kids to me, not superstars,” said Lakeisha according to Thirsty For News.

To proceed in her bankruptcy filing, Lakeisha must furnish documents by April 8 that Miami mortgage lender David Simon will investigate.

“This is a hotly contested case. Secured creditor has a judgment in foreclosure exceeding half a million dollars on a residential home that the debtor owns,” reads Simon’s lawyer’s court documents. “This is the debtor’s second bankruptcy case… if at first you don’t succeed, try again. But do it fast, and don’t provide notice to your adversary!”

Kanye West Reveals He’s ‘Going Away To Get Help’ After Erratic Instagram Rants

Kanye West Reveals He’s ‘Going Away To Get Help’ After Erratic Instagram Rants

According to Page Six, Kanye West has shared with Kim Kardashian that “he’s going away to get help” following his months-long harassment on Instagram of the reality star and her boyfriend Pete Davidson

Ye’s erratic behavior online not only caused the social media platform to suspend his account for 24 hours, but the Grammys also decided to pull his performance following his use of a racial slur when addressing The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, for calling out his abusive behavior towards Kardashian. Noah, however, even came to West’s defense, saying, “I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.”

Per Kardashian family insiders, Ye has now agreed to stop tormenting the beauty mogul and Davidson.

“For the sake of the kids, Kanye has told Kim he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and he will go away somewhere to get better,” revealed a source close to the Kardashians.

Although it’s not clear whether West will travel to a treatment facility or stay in California, a rep for the rapper told the outlet, “At this time, Ye is committed to a healthy co-parenting relationship with Kim and is focused on raising their beautiful children.”

The months-long harassment reached an all-time high following West’s claims that 8-year-old North was on TikTok against his will, amid other concerning aggression, causing Kardashian to publicly drag the Donda rapper for being “[obsessed] with trying to control and manipulate” the narrative of their ongoing divorce.

While Davidson remained silent about the whole ordeal, including West’s release of his Eazy claymation music video in which Davidson is depicted as being kidnapped and decapitated, the SNL star exchanged a few words with Ye after Kardashian’s newly single status last month, in which he expressed concern for his mental health.

Kardashian announced on Friday that she will rebrand her KKW Fragrance line and website after dropping West from her last name.

Mo’Nique and Lee Daniels End 13-Year ‘Precious’ Feud After Chosen To Replace Octavia Spencer in ‘Demon House’

It’s been 13 years since the release of Precious, and since its director Lee Daniels and Oscar-winner Mo’Nique have spoken. It appears as though now things are water under the bridge after Mo’Nique has landed a role set to replace Octavia Spencer in Daniels’ upcoming Netflix film Demon House.

In a public apology during the set of Mo’Nique and Friends: April Fools Day with The Queen of Comedy event at St. George Theatre on Staten Island, Daniels joined the comic on stage to express his regret for the decade-long quarrel.

“I am so sorry for hurting you in any way that I did,” Daniels said to Mo’Nique, who appeared to get emotional. “Y’all, and she was my best friend — my bestfriend. Y’all think that Precious was just… That was God working, through both of us. And we’re gonna f—— do it again!” he exclaimed.

The two then did a little dance before a fond embrace and expressing to each other that they love each other.

The pair held on to a grudge that was sparked over accusations that Daniels, and Precious executive producers Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry blackballed the Phat Girlz star following the release of the film, according to Deadline

Mo’Nique will now join the cast of Andra Day, Glenn Close and Aunjanue Ellis, as the star in Daniels’ Demon House, following Spencer’s departure due to a scheduling conflict with her Apple TV+ show Truth Be Told.

Production for the high-profile Netflix movie is set to begin in June in Philadelphia, with Daniels, Tucker Tooley and Pam Williams attached as producers.

Demon House follows the 2011 haunting of the Ammons family in Gary, Indiana, where Latoya Ammons and her three children were allegedly tormented and possessed by demons in a series of bizarre events that grew progressively worse, per USA Today. Gary police, the Department of Child Services and the local hospital and church all witnessed and corroborated the Ammons family story, while public opinion remained skeptical.

The $65 million film will frame the real-life haunting as inspiration for the fictional thriller, speculated to be released by the streaming giant in the first half of 2023.
