Nick Cannon Says Jamie Foxx Is ‘Awake’ And ‘Alert’ Amid Hospitalization For ‘Medical Complication’

Jamie Foxx remains hospitalized following a “medical complication” his team is keeping under wraps. But Nick Cannon confirmed his good friend is “awake” and “alert” while in recovery.

Cannon said Foxx is “doing so much better” two weeks after the Academy Award-winning actor was hospitalized for a medical emergency.

“Man, I’m praying,” Cannon told ET. “You see, I posted on Instagram. I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother.”

But The Daily Cannon host confirmed that Foxx is on the mend and responsive.

“I know he’s doing so much better because I’m actually about to do something special for him, and doing him a favor,” Cannon said.

The Masked Singer host remained mum about the favor, but teased that it would be “out there soon.”

“I can’t really say what it is, but it’ll be out there soon,” Cannon said. “I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it’s a beautiful thing. He’s awake. They say he’s alert, so, we love it.”

“That’s family right there,” he added.

Cannon’s message comes after the actor shared a heartfelt Instagram post sending love to Foxx amid the health scare that sent him to the hospital earlier this month.

“Prayer Changes Things! Living Testament!” Cannon captioned his post “Let’s all speak complete and total recovery for the most talented human on earth with a Spirit bigger than this small planet!!”

“@iamjamiefoxx Gods power is working through you as we speak! Sickness, Low frequencies nor negativity have any authority over your life King!” he added.

Cardi B And Janelle James Partner With Walmart to Share Mommy Tips Ahead of Mother’s Day

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, mega-retailer Walmart tapped Cardi B and Janelle James to share some mothering tips with the mommy community.

On Monday, videos showing the Grammy-winning rapper and the Emmy-winning actress sharing their “Mom hacks” were released to the public. Walmart wanted to partner with funny ladies in Hollywood – others featured in the series include comedic actress Stephanie Beatriz and stand-up star and screenwriter Jenny Slate.

Cardi took to Twitter to share her video with her nearly 30 million followers.

“Let me show yall how I make it through the day…. Check out all my mom hacks at http://walmartplus.mom
#WalmartPartner,” she tweeted.

“Welcome to motherhood. It’s hard, but we got you,” Cardi says in the video.

Clips show the “I Like It” rapper cleaning up a nursery while listing some of her top mommy tips.

“Square off your pointy nails so you don’t scratch your baby,” she shared. “I might keep my pinky nail pointy so I can take out my baby’s boogers.”

Cardi also suggested loading your baby’s bed with blankets just in case they can’t locate their favorite one. Elsewhere, the proud mother of two bounced on a yoga ball and said it’s one of the best ways to calm a fussy baby while getting in a quick workout.

Abbott Elementary star Janelle James also shared her go-to mom hacks, which include taking a break from doing the laundry to nap alongside your baby. The mother of two sons also keeps a mini vacuum for the “neverending crumbs” that come with having children.

Walmart execs shared their pride in the campaign, which            promotes a Walmart+ membership for busy moms like Cardi and James.

“The beauty of motherhood is that it brings moms together with a bond regardless of where they are in their lives,” Courtney Carlson, senior vice president of retail marketing, at Walmart said.

“Every mom loves to trade their parenting hacks, and we’re excited for this campaign to showcase the biggest hack of all being ‘The Mother of All Savings’ — a Walmart+ membership.”

‘Dear Mama’ Director Took On Project Despite Being Brutally Attacked By Tupac, ‘We Were Kids’

Talk about being the bigger person! Filmmaker Allen Hughes is opening up about taking on the Dear Mama documentary despite being brutally attacked by Tupac Shakur 30 years ago.

Hughes’ five-part docuseries explores how Tupac and Afeni Shakur’s mother-son dynamic shaped American history. Dear Mama explores Afeni’s past as a leader in the Black Panther Party and how it shaped Tupac’s journey as a political visionary and his rap career.

It took a lot for the Dead Presidents creator to agree to take on the project exactly three decades after he was physically attacked by Tupac and a group of gang members who were angry about the rapper being fired from the cult-classic Menace II Society.

Hughes is now opening up about his change of heart to work on a Tupac project after the late rapper’s estate reached out to him to direct the docuseries.

“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it because of obvious personal reasons,” Hughes told AP.

In his interview with the Associated Press, Hughes said, “It takes a lot out of you doing documentaries, too — especially if you do it over the course of a few years like we did this one. But once I realized that there wasn’t enough about Tupac that I didn’t realize, it might be better to explore him through his mother and make it a dual narrative. The estate and family were down with that.

Tupac spent 15 days in jail for attacking Hughes, the LA Times reports. Hughes had no interest in reconciling with the rapper at the time despite his public apology.

But now, looking back at the ordeal, Hughes admits how hard it was to let go of the “trauma” after being attacked by over a dozen angry men.

“It took a few years for me to get over it,” Hughes said.

“First of all, I saw the apology in real-time. I wish I was man enough to have connected with him at the time. I’ve since seen all the audiovisuals with him saying he was remorseful about it, which I never knew existed. But we were kids. We were all 19 when that happened.”

“No, you should never take it to the level of violence, whatever the misunderstanding is,” he continued. “But I’ve been in fist fights with my brother and recovered. Tupac loved hard. When he got angry, it was hard. I think maybe with the trauma from being completely obliterated by 10-15 guys, it just took a lot.”

Hughes’ “Dear Mama” premiered Friday on FX, and the first two episodes are available to stream on Hulu.

Rapper Desiigner Charged For Exposing Himself On Flight Days After Checking Into Mental Health Facility

Rapper Desiigner is facing criminal charges for allegedly exposing himself on an airplane just days after admitting himself to a mental health facility.

On Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota charged Desiigner, real name Sidney Royel Selby III, with a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure on an aircraft, CBS News reports. The “Panda” rapper was flying first class on a Delta flight from Tokyo to Minnesota on April 17 when he exposed himself multiple times and allegedly masturbated in his seat.

Desiigner was scolded by a flight attendant and told he violated federal law. He was moved to the back of the plane, where two travel companions monitored him.

The rapper reportedly suffered from an illness and took prescribed medication that he claims caused a chemical imbalance and sent him out of whack.

“For the past few months I have not been OK, and I have been struggling to come to terms with what is going on,” he told TMZ.

“While overseas for a concert I performed at, I had to be admitted into a hospital. I was not thinking clearly.”

“They gave me meds, and I had to hop on a plane home. I am ashamed of my actions that happened on that plane. I landed back to the States, and am admitting myself in a facility to help me,” he added.

Following the incident, the “Timmy Turner” rapper announced he would check himself into a mental health facility.

“I will be canceling all shows and any obligations until further notice,” he said. “Mental health is real guys, please pray for me. If you’re not feeling like yourself, please get help.”

This isn’t the first time Desiigner has gotten into an altercation on an airplane. In 2018, the Brooklyn native was kicked off a Scandinavian Airlines flight after he said he “spazzed” on a flight attendant who touched him, The Brunswick News reports.

High School Dropout Ebony Swank Used Forward Thinking to Build MultiMillion-Dollar Brand

High School Dropout Ebony Swank Used Forward Thinking to Build MultiMillion-Dollar Brand

Dropping out of high school was no hindrance to this fashionista’s determination to reach her goals.

Detroit native and nationally recognized fashion entrepreneur, Ebony Swank, may not have followed the typical educational path to become the successful businesswoman she is today, but the fashionista is a significant asset to the fashion industry’s ongoing evolution of systemic change and efforts to address issues of inclusivity. Known for creating the World’s Stretchiest Jeans, Swank is the founder of Swank a Posh, a quality and affordable clothing brand she has grown from a small business into a multimillion-dollar company in less than a decade.

Swank is a forward thinker, which led her to finding an ignored niche in the fashion market. Affordable, stylish clothing that accentuates women’s curves and appeals to all body types accelerated Swank a Posh’s popularity among consumers.

The self-taught business owner shared her journey with BLACK ENTERPRISE, from being a high school dropout, to building a successful brand, and now mentoring and counseling young, African American businesswomen.

Navigating success with no degree

“It’s not just I’m a high school dropout,” Swank says. “I only have an eighth-grade education. When I decided to take my GED, which was very early on, I just went in and just took the test and passed.” Swank explains that taking the test was just something she decided to do.

Calling herself a forward thinker, Swank says she broke into the accounting world and made sure she was actively working to gain experience.

In Swank’s department, she shares that it was pretty much a requirement to have some type of degree in order to be at a higher level. “My thing was always to make sure that the person that mattered, like the CFO or the controller, knew my name [and] knew who I was so that they could give me more things to do.” Such strategies ensured that when it came time for a position opening or promotion, Swank’s name would come up for consideration.

Being an active forward thinker, Swank was able to climb her way into different departments; taking her from the data entry department, to becoming a collections specialist, over to being an accounting manager, and then a financial analyst.

Swank ‘loves failure:’ Opens first store in a luxury mall, then closes down

The fashionista says she was so excited when she quit her job and opened her first store next door to Nordstrom in a high-class mall.

“I spent tons of money, but I didn’t make any, so I had to close.” Swank felt if she wasn’t profitable, her store was pointless. “That’s why I just love failure,” she says, reflecting again on not graduating from high school, only having an eighth-grade education, and coming from a single-parent home.

The forward thinker knew she had no desire to return to work, so she gave her store another try and reopened with $12,000, and this time she was successful.

Creating her multimillion-dollar baby, Swank a Posh

Swank applied her accounting principals, placing her focus solely on the customer. She developed a plan that made sense and found a name that stood out. She used part of her $12,000 budget and flew out to shop in a district in Los Angeles.

“I needed to be able to control my pricing,” she says.

Swank says she researched the Juicy Couture brand, digging into who their customer was: “the young, Black girl. I started researching more of who the young, Black girl was and what she was interested in,” Swank continues, saying she did everything as it related to her target consumer.

Using this unique strategy, she noticed her store took off. She opened a second store observing success from both locations, before she launched her online store.

As she continued to scale, Swank was approached by a company to buy nearly 50% of her business for a million dollars, which she knew was no money. “I knew that I never wanted to get into a situation that I would regret,” she says. This propelled her to invest more money into her business. Swank started running ads, learning about digital media, and then eventually hired other people to perform company tasks.

Swank has grown from starting with $12,000, which was all she had, to building a $40 million company. The brand saw a record one-day take from $1 million on Black Friday to $2 million by Cyber Monday.

Addressing inclusivity

The Swank a Posh brand considers the Black woman first. She says making clothes specifically for Black women is her responsibility.

Swank says she makes sure Swank a Posh clothing provides stretch in specific areas like the hip, thigh, and butt where Black women may be a little heavier. “Nobody has ever made clothes specifically for Black women,” she says. “It’s my responsibility to make sure that whatever I touch, whatever fabric I use, that it has the amount of stretch that’s needed,” she says in regards to fit.

It was all about showing girls clothing that was inclusive to all sizes. “Body positivity is where I really went in,” Swank says, sharing her view that she wanted young women to love themselves. “We have clothes that will fit everyone,” Swank says, noting that larger companies have used the Swank a Posh verbiage for their own platforms.

Swank a Posh clothing also considers length, arm size, and women who are chest heavy. “I’m heavy-chested and I’m bottom heavy,” Swank shares, recalling her time shopping at stores and struggling to find clothes that fit.

Advising and giving her employees real careers

The self-taught entrepreneur says teaching the young people key points and tools such as how to dress properly, create resumes and cover letters, and give firm handshakes is part of her commitment to prepare young professionals for success. “No one showed me how to do that,” Swank says, adding that youth mentorship was part of her mission before she got to her current status with her company. “I was able to hire them and give them a real career.”

Swank says although she doesn’t require a degree to work with her company, she does love when people have them, as she believes a degree gives you structure. “That’s my giveback. My giveback is giving to those that possibly didn’t have the chance to go to college or the money,” she says, adding that she allows them to work for her business, builds them up, and then promotes them.

“You definitely have to be able to work for, including have the skillset, but I am a really great teacher,” Swank continues, priding herself on being able to accelerate the careers of those who get experience working directly with her.

Expanding Swank a Posh

According to Swank, her stores are profiting way more than before. She is working on opening her own factories and having more control over the volume that’s going in and out of her company. Swank has multiple brick-and-mortar stores and her brand has amassed more than a million combined followers.

Keke Palmer On Her Sexuality And Gender Identity, ‘Always Felt Like I Was A Little Bit of Everything’

New mom Keke Palmer is keeping it all the way real about her fluidity with navigating her sexuality and gender identity.

The Nope star was at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Gala on Saturday to accept the Vanguard Award. She spoke candidly about her journey to identify and categorize her sexuality and gender, Variety reports.

“Sexuality and identity for me has always been confusion,” Palmer told the audience. “I never felt straight enough. I never felt gay enough. And I never felt woman enough. I never felt man enough.”

“You know, I always felt like I was a little bit of everything,” she added.

Palmer, who just welcomed her first child, son Leodis “Leo” Andrellton, with boyfriend Darius Jackson in February, explained her reservations with embracing the masculinity that’s come so naturally to her.

“So often, I lead with masculinity. And as a woman, I’ve always been met with so much disdain,” she explained. “I think so much of that came from who I thought I had to be to get respect, admiration, and love.”

I’ve always really wanted to be like my father…to want to be taken seriously and not diminished because I was a woman,” she continued.

“That’s always been a source of pain and resentment.”

The Akeelah and the Bee star became emotional while sharing the questions she’s struggled to answer throughout her life.

“Why did my gender have to define the power I have in the world? And why does my gender get to decide my sexuality?” she asked.

And her journey to identify her sexuality and gender has been something she’s battled with since childhood.

“I always questioned the boxes I was forced to be in and it starts with who you’re supposed to be as a child,” she recalled.

“You’re supposed to be as a Black person or whatever the background you are from. Then those walls just try to cave you in from every damn angle, who you are as a creative, who you are as a friend.”

Palmer reflected on the night and expressed her gratitude to be honored by her peers in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Florida Man Shoots At Black Instacart Delivery Workers Who Accidentally Went To Wrong Address

Two Black Instacart delivery drivers are lucky to be alive after driving to the wrong residence.

NPR reports Antonio Caccavale of Southwest Ranches, Florida, allegedly shot at the car with Waldes Thomas Jr., 19, and Diamond Harley D’arville, 18, inside after they had trouble finding the person’s address who placed the order. They mistakenly drove on the property of Caccavale and his 12-year-old son approached the car. While trying to reverse, the pair told investigators the assailant became aggressive when he approached the Honda Civic.

“He’s like, ‘Who are you?’ and we’re saying we’re with Instacart,” D’arville told WFLA. The couple said Caccavale grabbed at the driver’s side window. “I had seen him pull out a gun and that’s when I said, ‘We got to go, we got to go. I was scared; I’m not going to lie.”

The resident claims he heard his son calling for help and ran to his aid and said the vehicle was driving “erratically,” hitting items on the property like boulders and fence posts. While the couple tried to leave the property, they sideswiped Caccavale, running over his right foot and causing him to draw his Smith & Wesson Shield handgun. Police said they saw two bullet holes in the car’s rear bumper, and the rear passenger tire was flat. Thomas feels he went things all wrong.

“We were there for Instacart, we were trying to tell him, and he went about it the wrong way — instead of just calling police, saying ‘I have trespassers on my lawn,’ he decided to shoot,” Thomas said. When asked if they wanted to press charges, the couple said a detective told them that since the resident didn’t break any laws or do anything unlawful, they couldn’t do anything because we were on their property. However, they still want him held accountable.

“It’s just not right — even if you have a gun, I understand you’re trying to protect your family, but you don’t come outside shooting,” D’arville said. “We’re telling you what we’re here, we’re trying to leave and you’re blocking us in, it could’ve just been on our way and they made it bigger than what it was.”

Breaking News: After 17 Years, Don Lemon Has Been Terminated From CNN

Breaking News: After 17 Years, Don Lemon Has Been Terminated From CNN

In a surprising move, CNN has terminated controversial its popular host Don Lemon.

The cable network tweeted a statement announcing that it has parted ways with Lemon after 17 years.

“CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”

Lemon, who seemed quite surprised, sent a Tweet saying that no one from management informed him of his status directly.

“I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.”

Recent controversies may have doomed his long tenure with the network.

Earlier in April, Variety released a report that showed almost 15 years of alleged antics that made Lemon look like a behind-the-scenes terror who used charm and name-dropping to avoid harsher punishment.

In February, the veteran on-air correspondent made ageist and sexist remarks toward presidential hopeful Nikki Haley. He was taken off the air, and the network announced he received “formal training.”

On Feb. 20, the CEO of CNN, Chris Licht, emailed employees about the incident.

“I sat down with Don and had a frank and meaningful conversation,” Licht wrote. “He has agreed to participate in formal training, as well as continue to listen and learn. It is important to me that CNN balances accountability with…fostering a culture in which people can own, learn and grow from their mistakes.”

It was also reported that Lemon, after a Dec. 8 broadcast of the morning show, had an altercation with co-host Kaitlan Collins, accusing her of “interrupting” him on air. The verbal attack shook Collins as she was “visibly upset” and abruptly left the studio.

Fake Broker Cons Black Church Members Out of $31,000 In Stock Trades

All skin folk are certainly not kinfolk, and for a group of Floridian churchgoers, this saying has never been more true.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Marcus Moon, a former Miramar insurance agent, has agreed to a civil money penalty after “predominantly targeting African-American investors of the Christian faith” and losing over $31,000 of their invested funds. Moon, who now lives in Falls Church, Virginia, with his wife, has not admitted or denied the charges against him, but he has agreed to pay a $31,080 settlement and disgorgement of $3,000 with an additional $158 interest, according to the Miami Herald. The disgorgement covers account setup fees Moon charged nine Black church ‘clients’ as disclosed in the complaint.

The SEC says Moon held a Series 6 license, which allowed him to buy or sell mutual funds, variable annuities, variable life insurance, unit investment trusts, and municipal fund securities. However, Moon was not licensed to buy or sell stocks nor allowed to give investment advice for profit. After being licensed in 2017, the SEC complaint details that Moon worked for “an SEC-registered broker-dealer.” According to the Miami Herald, that dealer was New York Life, which had offices in South Florida. In 2020, state records indicate that Marcus K. Moon registered Increase Financial Strategies, using his home as the business address. Later in the same year, after scamming other Black church communities, Moon changed the company’s name to INC Financial Strategies and would also operate under “Faith Financial Strategies” at times.

The SEC says the 49-year-old promoted himself through Increase Financial Strategies’ website and social media accounts as “a financial services professional offering broker-dealer and advisory services through Increase Financial for a fee.” In the company’s client agreement, Moon requested usernames and passwords from people to “access the account for the purchase, sell and management of stocks, bonds, ETF’s and mutual funds.” He signed up nine clients in less than a year. “Using the clients’ account access credentials to log onto their online trading accounts, Moon purchased and sold stocks in their respective accounts,” the SEC complaint said. “When one online broker-dealer shut down some of the clients’ accounts, after detecting that Moon was accessing those accounts and trading (instead of the account owners), Moon encouraged those clients to open new accounts at other online brokers.”

The SEC said those clients owned 18 accounts through which Moon “conducted hundreds of trades that resulted in approximately $31,800 in losses.” In January 2021, Increase Financial was dissolved, and in March 2021, New York Life fired Marcus Moon.

After Years Of Racial Politics And Trolling, Tucker Carlson Gets The Boot From Fox News

After Years Of Racial Politics And Trolling, Tucker Carlson Gets The Boot From Fox News

Things have turned for the worse for controversial host Tucker Carlson.

His show will need to find a new home as ABC News reports Carlson and Fox News have “agreed to part ways.” In a statement from Fox, it announced his last show aired this past Friday without Carlson receiving a proper sign-off and said, “We thank him for his service to the network.” The headlining news comes days after the network and Dominion Voting Systems settled for over $750 million after Dominion accused Fox News of recklessly airing false election claims and conspiracy theories during the 2020 presidential election.

Carlson has been on the air with his show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, since 2016. For years, the conservative TV host has railed against politicians in office and fellow journalists in openly hypocritical forms. In 2021, MSNBC’s Joy Reid called Carlson out for referring to her as “the race lady.” It was reported that Carlson claimed Reid used race to bait people despite living “an unusually privileged life.” “At least three times in last month, Tucker Carlson took time off from badgering strangers in parks and bouncy houses to demand they show him their children’s unmasked faces to refer to moi as the ‘race lady’!” Reid said.

“‘The race lady’? Why’d he call me that? I used to run track in high school, but honestly, I’m not that fast. What else could it be? Hmm.”

Just last week, conservative radio host Larry Elder used Carlson’s platform to announce his candidacy for the office of the President of the United States. Before they started, Carlson and Elder laughed at the notion that California’s media called Elder “a white supremacist.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox will have a rotation of guest hosts to fill in for the primetime slot with a show called Fox News Tonight until a replacement is found.
