Ashanti Teasing Possibility of Rekindling Flame With Nelly After Steamy Stage Performance

Ashanti and Nelly might be ready to give their love a try again after all the chemistry they put on display during a recent live performance.

Ashanti and Nelly shared the stage earlier this month while performing their 2008 hit, “Body On Me,” Hollywood Life reports. Fans couldn’t help but notice how Nelly appeared to be fighting temptation at points when Ashanti shook her tailfeather on her ex-boyfriend.

Ashanti appeared on Watch What Happens Live last Tuesday, where she responded to a fan who called in and asked if she and Nelly would ever consider getting back together after years of being broken up.

“Oh my gosh,” she said. “I saw a lot of comments. My reaction was…wow. It was a lot of comments and a lot of people wanting that.”

The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter updated fans on her current relationship status with Nelly.

“What I will say is, we’re in a better place,” Ashanti said. “Because before it was like [*punching*]. We have some conversations [now]. So it was cool.”

When host Andy Cohen asked, “But you’re not getting back together?” Ashanti didn’t shut down the possibility, either. “I mean, I don’t….” she said before laughing off the question.

Ashanti and Nelly dated for 10 years before calling it quits. The two reunited in 2021 during the Fat Joe and Ja Rule Verzuz, where Ashanti and Nelly shared the stage.

During the performance, Nelly ran across the stage to hug Ashanti in front of the crowd. Ashanti later recalled the moment during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show.

“When I saw him kind of coming across the stage, I was just like, oh. And it was so weird because we haven’t seen or spoken to each other for over six years. So it was a weird feeling,” Ashanti shared.

“It had been so long, I didn’t know how to feel or what I was going to feel when I did see him.”

Well, it looks like time might’ve healed old wounds. If Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck can rekindle their flame after 20 years, why can’t Ashanti and Nelly?!

Report: NFL Teams Paid Out $800 Million to Coaches and Executives Terminated in the Past Five Years

The high costs of tickets to NFL games, along with steep costs of merchandise  and concessions, could be contributed to the high salaries of players.

Yet, a newly released report also states that the NFL has spent $800 million on contracts related to terminated coaches and front-office executives over the past five years.

According to  ESPN, officials from the NFL informed the owners of the league’s 32 franchises that $800 million had been paid out to fired coaches and front-office personnel.

The owners of the teams were given the message this past week during the owners’ meetings in Dallas.

The franchise owners were given the reminder that they might want to think it over before they make any noteworthy changes at the end of the current season. Officials sent spreadsheets to each team showing the owners the exact costs of letting people go before their contracts are over. The contracts’ owners are still paying out hundreds of millions of dollars to individuals who are no longer with the team.

Some examples of NFL owners who are paying terminated individuals:

• The Carolina Panthers terminated head coach Matt Rhule when he still had four years remaining on a 7-year contract, with a $60 million payout.

• The Indianapolis Colts got rid of their head coach Frank Reich, who still had four years remaining on his August 2021 contract extension, and they now have to shell out $9 million a year.

• The Tennessee Titans fired their general manager Jon Robinson when he still had four full years remaining on a contract extension he had inked this past February.

A Hillman Homecoming! Superstar Cast of ‘A Different World’ Reunites On ‘Red Table Talk’

It’s a Hillman homecoming!

In a rare Red Table Talk event, the superstar cast of the groundbreaking series “A Different World” is reuniting for the first time on the series after 35 years.

The special episode, now streaming on Facebook Watch, is offering up nostalgia all at the red table. From exclusive behind-the-scenes stories to hilarious and heartfelt memories, viewers will also get the scoop on the cast’s favorite episodes of the famed 80s spin-off.

Today, Dec. 19, Jada Pinkett-Smith and her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, affectionately known as “Gammy” welcomed the actress’ former co-stars Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Darryl M. Bell, Charnele Brown, Cree Summer, Glynn Turman, Ajai Sanders, Karen Malina White and the legendary Debbie Allen.

Additionally, The Godmother of Soul Patti LaBelle delivered a surprise message of gratitude to the iconic crew, especially Allen. The songstress appeared in the series as Hardison’s mom, Adele Wayne.

The moment of gratitude came well before LaBelle’s moment. Banfield-Norris, in particular, still remembers the “amazing” feeling of watching her daughter on the series for the first time. She was recovering from addiction in Baltimore while Jada was filming in California.

The proud mom also recalled how Smith told her Allen was going to “write a part” for her on the series.

“We owe everything to you,” Banfield-Norris told Allen.

“You don’t owe me,” Allen said in response, “because she walked in ready.”

When Pinkett-Smith auditioned for A Different World as a guest role, Allen was impressed by her. A series regular role was handed to her after the young budding actress proclaimed that she was the “next Debbie Allen.”

“The first time I met Debbie, I mean, like most of us, I had watched Debbie on ‘Fame.’ She was like the prototype, you know what I mean? I was like, ‘I wanna be able to do that. I want to be able to sing, dance, choreograph the rest,’” Pinkett-Smith shared at the table.

In another highlight, Guy shared that she put in her two weeks’ notice during season one because she felt the actors were being disrespected, including Lisa Bonet.

Shaquille O'Neal

Shaq Addresses FTX Lawsuit Revealing He Was Only A Celebrity In An Ad

Many notable names have reportedly been mentioned as defendants in a lawsuit against FTX, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges.

Fifty-year-old businessman and Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has reportedly been named a defendant in a class-action lawsuit against now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX last month.

According to CNBC Make It, O’Neal promoted the company in a June commercial, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that the FTX endorsement was fraudulent, accusing founder and former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried of misusing customer funds for his benefit and his crypto hedge fund, Alameda Research.

O’Neal said that when it comes to FTX, he was only a celebrity being used for an ad.

“A lot of people think I’m involved, but I was just a paid spokesperson for a commercial,” O’Neal said.

In the June commercial for FTX, the basketball legend can be heard saying, “I’m excited to be partnering with FTX to help make crypto accessible to everyone.” He continued with, “I’m all in. Are you?”

The suit accused FTX of using celebrities to target “unsophisticated investors from across the country,” dragging in other popular names alongside O’Neal, including Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, and comedian Larry David.

The claim stated that FTX’s spokespeople “either controlled, promoted, assisted in [or] actively participated” in a plot to “aggressively market” the company.

“People know I’m very, very honest,” O’Neal said.

“I have nothing to hide. If I was heavily involved, I would be at the forefront saying, ‘Hey.’ But I was just a paid spokesperson.”

O’Neal told the outlet that his friendship with NBA player Stephen Curry is a big reason he consented to the deal to appear in the advertisement.

Last year, O’Neal told Front Office Sports that he steers clear of deals that seem too good to be true, sharing his perspective on cryptocurrency.

“I always get these companies that say, ‘Hey, we’ll give you $900,000 in crypto to send out a tweet.’ So I have to say, ‘OK, if you’re going to give me a million dollars worth of crypto, then why do you need me?’” O’Neal said.

“A couple of my friends got caught up in a little scam like that one time.”

According to CNBC, the Bahamian authorities arrested Bankman-Fried on several counts of conspiracy and fraud, and the accusations will likely result in extradition and a U.S. trial. The FTX founder reportedly faces at least eight charges from prosecutors in the Southern District of New York.

Nigerian Founder of Dollaride Awarded $10M to Build New York’s First All-Electric Dollar Van Network

Nigerian Founder of Dollaride Awarded $10M to Build New York’s First All-Electric Dollar Van Network

This Black man is using technology to provide reliable transportation in his community.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul awarded Dollaride founder Su Sanni $10 million to build the state’s first all-electric dollar van network.

According to sources, Sanni, a Nigerian native, created Dollaride in 2017 in an effort to transform New York’s transit network, making a safer, cleaner, and more accessible transportation infrastructure.

“In many urban cities, the public transit infrastructure isn’t robust enough to meet the commuting needs of normal everyday people. Studies have shown that transit access is one of the most critical factors in determining upward mobility,” Sanni said in an interview.

“In New York, dollar vans are what I like to call the best kept secret hidden in plain sight. I believe that it is important to support the small businesses that operate in these informal transit networks. They can have a multiplier effect that closes both transit and economic gaps in underserved communities,” Sanni said.

Reportedly, major developments are set to commence in January 2023, with the $10 million funds that were distributed as part of the $85 million New York Clean Transportation Prizes program.

“I am proud to be providing the most significant investment yet in clean transportation for historically underserved communities in New York State,” Governor Kathy Hochul said, according to a press release.

“Improving access to clean mobility options, electrifying trucks and buses, and supporting projects that reduce air pollution modernizes the way residents and visitors access community services, recreation, and work opportunities while creating jobs, improving health, and reducing the impacts of climate change,” she added.

Dollaride has created the Clean Transit Access Program, a cost-friendly solution for fleet owners to expand their businesses through mobility software, creative financing, and partnerships.

“One of the main things we’re trying to do here is position commuter vans as a clean transportation service, while also preparing fleet owners and drivers for the future,” Sanni said. “With this $10 million award from NYSERDA (New York State Energy and Research Development Authority), Dollaride’s Clean Transit Access Program will provide affordable electric shuttle buses as well as charging infrastructure to certified commuter van drivers operating in disadvantaged communities throughout NYC.”

Lizzo Pays Tribute to Annie Lee’s ‘Blue Monday’ Painting in Emotional SNL Performance

The Cosby Show and A Different World, helped popularize Black artists’ work such as Varnette P. Honeywood, Ellis Wilson, whose paintings, like the Amanti Art Funeral Procession hung prominently on the wall as part of the aesthetic of the Huxtable home, Romare Bearden, and artist Annie Lee.

While her name may not ring a bell for most, Lee’s work has become iconic and her unforgettable images live on through artists like Lizzo, who paid a beautiful tribute to Lee’s work while performing her song “Break Up Twice” on Saturday Night Live.

The Grammy-winning singer recreated Lee’s iconic “Blue Monday” painting by wearing a white slip dress and sitting on the side of her bed the same way Lee posed in the only self-portrait she ever released, as noted by her website.

As the adage goes, a picture speaks a thousand words, and Lizzo’s interpretation of Lee’s art spoke loudly as she sat hunched over on a bed, next to a lamp and an alarm clock on the bedside table, looking exhausted in the same fashion as Lee’s original painting.

There was a blue wall and calendar sitting behind her, and slippers near her feet on the floor.

Many took to social media to praise Lizzo’s meaningful performance and tribute to Black culture.

“I LOVED @lizzo’s homage to Annie Lee on SNL!” one viewer wrote.

“Uniquely Black in America @lizzo is unapologetic about her place in the cultural zeitgeist,” another fan wrote.

“This hung in every Black household at the turn of the 21st century. It fully encapsulates our mood today. We are beyond tired. #snl”

Lizzo took to Facebook to share a post thanking everyone for the love and support and highlighting a few of her most praiseworthy posts.

“You get me, you really get me💙 thank you to my creative team for helping me pull this vision off w less than a week to prepare!” she wrote.

“@tanishascott @q_thervandross @brettalannelson @iwantalexx @theshelbyswain @kevinbeisler 💙 y’all make miracles happen!”

Blue Monday is one of Lee’s best-known paintings, along with “My Cup Runneth Over.” Lee died in 2014 at 79. She was known for depicting everyday life in Black culture using faceless figures.

‘Flashy’ Pastor Bishop Lamor Whitehead Indicted on Federal Charges of Wire Fraud, Extortion

‘Flashy’ Pastor Bishop Lamor Whitehead Indicted on Federal Charges of Wire Fraud, Extortion

Bishop Lamor Whitehead, the pastor in Brooklyn who was seen being robbed during a church service earlier this year, has been indicted on federal charges and is currently in custody.

According to The New York Post, the controversial Whitehead was arrested on Monday by federal agents and is accused of defrauding a member of his congregation, among several other charges. Federal prosecutors said he was indicted on two counts of wire fraud, one count of extortion, and one count of making material false statements.

If he is convicted of the charges, he faces a maximum of 65 years in prison.

He purportedly persuaded a parishioner to invest $90,000 of her retirement savings with him. He promised to use the funds received to purchase her a home. He is accused of spending the money on luxury items like clothing and goods.

Prosecutors also claim that the Brooklyn pastor extorted $5,000 from another victim who was a businessman. He asked the man to lend him half a million dollars. With that money, he assured him that he could “obtain favorable actions by the New York City government” in exchange for the cash and interest in real estate transactions, the indictment states.

“If you are willing to attempt to obtain funds through false promises or threats, the FBI will ensure that you are made to face the consequences for your actions in our criminal justice system,” FBI Assistant Director Michael J. Driscoll said in a written statement.

Earlier this year, Whitehead was reportedly robbed of approximately $1 million worth of jewelry when three men burst into his sanctuary at his church in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn pastor and his wife were held at gunpoint in a targeted attack. No injuries were reported and the scene was caught on video as it was being live-streamed.

The incident happened on July 23 and took place at The Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Juwan Anderson and Say-Quan Pollack were arrested for allegedly participating in the armed robbery.

Da Brat Calls Out ‘Ungrateful’ Bow Wow for Blasting Jermaine Dupri’s ‘106th & Park’ Claims

Da Brat and Bow Wow are locked in a social media feud over Bow Wow’s shady remarks about So So Def founder Jermaine “JD” Dupri.

The drama ignited over the weekend after JD sat down for an interview on The Goats And Underdogs podcast and claimed to have been the original creator of BET’s famed 106th & Park as a way to build a platform to amplify Black artists.

The hip-hop mogul claimed he created the concept for 106th & Park to help propel the career of his budding artist at the time, Bow Wow.

“106 & Park was created by me. I created the show for Bow Wow,” JD said.

“I was watching MTV and MTV had TRL. And they was catering to N’Sync, they was catering to the Backstreet Boys,” he also stated. “Anything white that was coming out that was Pop, they was allowing these kids to scream and holler. I’m like, ‘Yo, we don’t have nothin’ for Black people. Like, where’s the Black kids that love music. Why don’t they have a show like this?’”

Once Bow Wow caught wind of JD’s claims, he took to Twitter to shade his former mentor and credit the formation of 106th & Park to others.

“JD aint create 106&Park stop the cap,” Bow Wow tweeted.

“Stephen hill Rick Ghrimes & all the great people in the BET OFFICE & staff created that show. All i did was capitalize off of what they created and made it mine. I would know…. I am mr 106! I would never take away from someones creativity.”

After publicly shading JD, fellow So So Def artist Da Brat entered the chat and took to her Instagram Story to blast Bow Wow for being “ungrateful” to the man who helped launch his career.

“@shadmoss You really on some BULLSH*T RIGHT NOW. Now u KNOW I got ALL da receipts and know the WHOLE stories to ALOT ALOT! Don’t do this,” Da Brat wrote in a post captured by That Grape Juice.

“Respect a legend. Respect a cultural icon. Respect the person who made your career what it is. I’m asking you now to please stop. I’m sorry @jermainedupri I cannot be silent about this shit any longer.”

Brat went on to tell Bow Wow to “pull up” for discrediting the same man who “nurtured” his career for decades.

“Man wtf? I really don’t have time or patience for this sh*t but I got BOTH TODAY. Bow what I can’t letchu do is discredit my big brother JD who u called your dad for so many years cuz that is pretty much the role you gave him. And instead of saying ‘hell no,’ he rocked with it,” Brat continued.

“You are being so rude and disrespectful to the person who believed in you, nurtured you, made you a complete star, wrote all yo hits, accepted the challenge when Snoop brought you to him. He has never done ANYTHING to you, but help. I ain’t finna letchu drag the most nonconfrontational person who loved, cared for u and spoiled yo ass for years. He isn’t and never would discredit BET execs. He discussed creating 106 b4 it was created so Black people could have our own TRL. NO CAP! If this whatchu wanna do…LETS F*CKIN GO! Pull Up lil N*gga witcho disrespectful ass. So ungrateful.”

On Monday, Bow Wow followed up with two additional tweets adding clarity and doubling down on his claims.

“We live in a weird time when telling the truth is being rude. Or keeping it a buck is disrespectful…. You cant be serious,” he wrote, before adding: “I aint even do nothing i said it was a lie. Stephen hill even came out and said it was a lie. Hahaha how is that rude? Now lying and taking credit is cool? Come on bro.”

‘Stop Being Ungrateful’: Master P Responds to Romeo’s Claims Against His Fatherhood

Master P is firing back after getting called out by his son Romeo Miller on social media over the weekend.

Romeo put his famous father on blast on Friday after seeing Master P’s social media tribute to dancer/actor Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who died by suicide last week. Romeo took offense to his dad’s public tribute to Boss in wake of the passing of P’s daughter/Romeo’s sister Tytyanna Miller, who passed away from a fentanyl overdose brought on by depression and substance abuse last May.

“Today was a boiling point,” Romeo wrote in his initial post. “I seen a man avoid his own children struggle with suicide and depression but post another man whom passed today that he doesn’t even know.”

“Yall idols be lost. Better stop following the blind. Watch when it’s revealed,” he added.

In response to Romeo’s post, Master P clapped back in a since-deleted post where he told Romeo to stop “blaming” him “for everything,” Hot New Hip Hop reports.

“This new generation of kids need to stop blaming their parents for everything,” Master P wrote.

“How do they think they got to where they are without their parents making sacrifices for them?”

The No Limit founder continued, “Mental illness is real and so many families are tragically affected by it especially when there is added trauma like death of a loved on [sic],” he wrote.

“Son, I love you. Stop trying to get people to feel sorry for you. And let’s come up with a solution. You can come talk to your father and your family, like a man, you have kids too. No family is perfect but together with God, we can heal and get through this.”

Master P has since posted an Instagram video addressing his son, saying in part: ” People gotta stop being ungrateful and place blame when they’re not where they want to be in life.”

Romeo left a comment under his dad’s since-deleted post expressing the love and loyalty he had for his father all his life, while doubling down on his claims that Master P portrays a different image to the public than what he showed his children.

“I loved you so much that I followed you blindly for 30+yrs,” Romeo wrote. “You know we’ve talked behind closed doors. You aren’t the man who you paint to be and why is it war because I refuse to follow ur lead. You only want to protect your image, but the image isn’t even real.”

Romeo followed up with a poem about “The Tree of Trauma.”
