Meek Mill is an investor of Dogecoin, a popular cryptocurrency. The rapper, has 92,411 DOGE in his portfolio, which roughly exchanges for $53,000 as of reporting this story, Hype Beast reported.

The inspiration for Mill’s decision stems from the notion he is missing out on great investments.”I just grabbed some doge I’m tired of missing out,” he tweeted.
The feeling of missing on Dogecoin is felt by many users, which explains why the coin is performing well online.
“Dogecoin is surging because many cryptocurrency traders do not want to miss out on any buzz that stems from Elon Musk’s hosting of Saturday Night Live,” Ed Moya, senior market analyst at OANDA, wrote. “Also known as the Dogefather, Musk will undoubtedly have a sketch on cryptocurrencies that will probably go viral for days and further motivate his army of followers to try to send Dogecoin to the moon. The Dogecoin bubble should have popped by now, but institutional interest is trying to take advantage of this momentum and that could support another push higher.”
The price of Dogecoin has increased in value by 11,000% since 2020 as more people continue to use their stimulus check to invest in experimental currencies and stocks in online forums, MarketWatch reported.
As BLACK ENTERPRISE explained, Dogecoin started out as a joke in 2013 and became a ctypotocurrency worth more than $50 billion.
Dogecoin is more than just a high-valued investment; it is a movement against Wall Street and has its own meme-filled holiday on April 20.
This year’s “Doge Day” was supposed to rally online support to push the price of the cryptocurrency to $1.
Dogecoin is just a reminder of how influential social media is on the marketplace.
Meek Mill joins other celebrities before like Elon Musk, Mark Cuban and Snoop Dogg to jump on the Shiba Inu dog meme craze.
Coincidentally, May 6 is Meek Mill’s birthday – he turned 34 year-old.

According to The Tennessean, 7-year-old Morgan Bugg sparked change in the name of representation and inclusion of Black girl’s natural hairstyles, after noticing an educational app lacked inclusivity. A report said that Bugg was using Freckle as a part of her online, first-grade curriculum. On its website, Freckle states that it provides teachers with the best differentiation platform so they can teach all of their students at the level that’s best for them. As a part of the education game, students can earn coins for completing learning activities.
The Tennessean reported that the young girl wanted to redeem her coins and style her own avatar at the virtual store, but no hairstyle options for Black female students like her existed. Upon returning to virtual school, Morgan informed her teacher—Kelley Anne Joyner—that it was not fair that Freckle had one Black boy hair option and no Black girl hair option.
“I felt kind of sad and jealous that there wasn’t any girl hair for me,” Bugg said in an interview with The Tennessean. “So then I just got off the store and I was really mad.”
The interview also explained that Joyner, who works at Edmondson Elementary School in Brentwood, listened to her young student’s suggestion on asking Freckle to add Black girl hair options. Bugg illustrated hair examples to enable Joyner to send them to Freckle’s support team.

Joyner and Morgan’s teamwork made a difference. The Williamson Herald said that a second email informed the teacher of the app’s inclusive addition.
“Our product team recently added more hairstyles to the Piggy Store based directly on your feedback,” the message said, according to The Williamson Herald. “Thanks again for sharing your insightful comments on how to improve the student experience on Freckle.”
Bugg reportedly started dancing when her teacher read the email response to her, during a chat session. Then, a Zoom call with local media was later led by Williamson County Schools Communications Director Carol Birdsong.
“I feel happy, proud and warm,” Bugg said, according to The Williamson Herald.
On a final note, Buggs’s mother, Dr. Maya Bugg, is the founder and CEO of The Bugg Consulting Group L.L.C.

According to its website, the company ‘supports nonprofit and for-profit clients across the country as they endeavor to become more diverse, equitable and inclusive places of work and impact.’ Ironically, Bugg’s young daughter took a stand to promote inclusivity, while reminding others that representation does matter.

Philadelphia’s Democratic primary for District Attorney has become bitter due to Mister Softee, a soft-serve ice cream truck company, and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.
Last Friday, The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) parked a Mister Softee truck outside the office of District Attorney Larry Krasner to show he is “soft” on crime. The union passed out free soft-serve ice cream cones and asked people to support Krasner’s opponent and longtime prosecutor Carlos Vega.
The move offended Ben Cohen, a Krasner supporter and one half of the most iconic tag team in frozen desserts, Ben& Jerry’s. Cohen quickly clapped back, blasting the FOP as out of control and calling Mister Softee fake ice cream.

“To be clear, Mister Softee isn’t even ice cream,” Cohen’s post stated. “It is pumped up with a lot of hot air which is somehow frozen in a limp sort of way. It is chock full of artificial ingredients. In short, it’s fake ice cream. Just like the lies the FOP has been telling about a courageous fighter for true justice and one of the best DAs in the US. There are many reasons to reelect Krasner, who has rolled back mass incarceration while working to implement solutions that build up communities.”

John McNesby, the president of Lodge 5 of the FOP, told the Philadelphia Inquirer Cohen “is begging for relevancy in this market and Mister Softee and Carlos Vega are the go-to-choices for Philadelphians.”
McNesby added he plans to have a truck sit outside of Krasner’s office until the May 18 primary. Mister Softee seems more of a pawn in the situation as it only had profit in mind and does not get involved in politics.
Ben and Jerry’s ice cream has been active in politics for decades, advocating for campaign finance reform and supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. The company also sent a letter to former President Donald Trump essentially asking him to treat all people equally.

Alleged to have fatally shot an innocent man on April 25, Norman Christopher Collier IV finds himself in an awkward legal battle – he lost his younger brother in an unsolved shooting and now he might lose his freedom.
Collier was arrested in connection with the shooting and killing of an innocent man at a balloon release ceremony held in his late brother’s honor, KWTX reported.

The elder Collier allegedly wanted to avenge the death of 19-year-old sibling Camran Collier who was shot and killed on April 22; police found his body in a 2013 Honda Accord, Complex News reported.
Believing online rumors, Collier mistakenly thought 20-year-old Kolby Marquise Graham killed his brother and took matters into his own hands when they attended a balloon release memorial ceremony held at Les Zeiger Park in DeSoto for the younger Collier—it was reported that Graham died from a shot to his head.
Graham initially survived before passing away. His dying words to his mother Tamaka Graham were, “Momma, remember I don’t have nothing against nobody it won’t be me it will be them.”
DeSoto Police are calling Graham’s death senseless, “URGING citizens to use caution & common sense when posting information to social media,” police wrote on Twitter. “Please check veracity & source of any info related to police matters. It can save a life!”
In response to the senseless killing of a person wrongly identified as murder suspect, @DeSotoPD is URGING citizens to use caution & common sense when posting information to social media. Please check veracity & source of any info related to police matters. It can save a life!
— DeSoto Police Department (@DeSotoPD) April 30, 2021
“We believe if this information about Kolby being the shooter of Camran had not been so passed on and gone viral on social media he would not even shot,” Cpl. Pete Schulte of the DeSoto Police Department told KTVT.
DeSoto Police arrested Collier and charged him with capital murder for the death of Graham. He is in custody in the Dallas County jail being held on a $1 million bond.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) made an appearance on Face The Nation where he explained why he should be leading the conversation about police reform instead of being the butt of all jokes.
In the summer of 2020, as the sponsor of the JUSTICE Act, which stands for Just and Unifying Solutions to Invigorate Communities Everywhere, and being the only Black Republican in the Senate, he leads the GOP effort to demand police departments become more accountable and transparent in response to George Floyd and Breonna Taylor deaths.

However, Scott’s bill failed to secure 60 votes, meaning it could have been filibustered by fellow Republicans who controlled the Senate, with Democrats stating that it would have not banned chokeholds and no-knock warrants, respectively.
Scott, believing himself to be a negotiator of some sort, proposed a compromise on qualified immunity for police officers that would transfer responsibility from the individual officer to the department they are employed by, The Atlanta Black Star reported.
“One of the reasons I have asked to lead this police reform conversation on my side of the aisle is because I personally understand the pain of being stopped 18 times driving while Black,” Scott told host John Dickerson. “I have also seen the beauty of when officers go door to door with me on Christmas morning delivering presents to kids in the most underserved communities.”
Last June, House Democrats introduced a police reform bill called the Justice in Policing Act to go after police officers’ qualified immunity, which protects police officers from being held personally liable when someone claims their constitutional rights have been violated.
It passed on the House floor but was met with some opposition from the GOP.
Scott is hopeful both parties can merge the JUSTICE Act and the Justice in Policing Act into one bill.
The South Carolina senator has shown his intentions to work with Democrat on criminal justice reform, but his infamous rebuttal remarks following President Joe Biden Congressional address, saying, “America is not a racist country,” have tarnished his perception as a leader for police reform among the affected communities and has received harsh criticism on social media.
The backlash has led to Scott being referred to as “Uncle Tim,” a play on the “Uncle Tom” slur used to describe a Black person who embraces white goals and values.
Oklahoma Rep. Justin Humphrey (R) compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the KKK last Thursday on the House floor.
Humphrey made the comment during discussions on a state bill banning critical race theory. The bill, which was proposed in February, would prohibit state colleges and universities from requiring gender or sexual diversity training and would prohibit other topics on race and sex to be discussed.
Humphrey first described the KKK as terrible before throwing the Black Lives Matter movement into the same arena.
“Everybody agrees on this floor that they have burned, that they have threatened, that they have destroyed, that’s what they’re famous for,” Humphrey said according to The Hill.
He then asked the bill’s co-author, GOP state Rep. Kevin West if he agrees when people burn, threaten, kill and intimidate, they’re a terrorist group and that Black Lives Matter fits that description. West quickly agreed.
This isn’t the first time Humphrey’s words landed him in hot water. Humphrey once advocated for a Bigfoot hunting season and in 2017 introduced a bill that would force women seeking an abortion to get written consent from the fetus’s father.
According to The Independent, in justifying his abortion bill, Humphrey said one of the “breakdowns in our society” is that men are “excluded” from “these types of decisions.”
The Biden administration is making an effort to teach more Black history in schools across the country, but Republican states are fighting back with their own state bills banning critical race theory and the New York Times 1619 Project at public schools and universities.
The bill passed 69-109 last week and has been moved to Gov. Kevin Stitt’s desk for approval. Stitt has not said whether he will sign the bill. FOX OKC reported the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission has requested Stitt veto the bill.
“If this bill becomes law it will have serious implications on teaching the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre in schools, as well as much of the history of the U.S. which is rife with racism, sexism, and discomfort,” said Phil Armstrong, project director for the Commission, to KTLU.

According to a statement, Eventnoire is the winner of Mountain Dew’s Real Change Opportunity Fund Competition and will receive a portion of the $1 million prize pool, allowing it to continue work that strengthens Black business and uplifts Black communities. Eventnoire’s website describes it as a premiere event platform for event planners, organizations, and marketers that celebrate and embrace Black culture. Software solutions such as online event registration, venue selection, event management, mobile apps for events, and e-mail marketing are offered through the company.
“Before founding Eventnoire, (Jeff) Osuji and (Femi) Masha, both serial entrepreneurs with over 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, recognized that mainstream event and ticketing platforms weren’t meeting the needs of the Black community,” Eventnoire said in a statement. “With this knowledge, Osuji and Masha went to work creating a niche event ticketing platform that keeps consumers “in the Black” by connecting them to Black events and experiences within their local communities.”
Additionally, Eventnoire said that as more revenue is gained, the company will be on a mission to recycle $1 million back into Black organizations annually and re-invest into the Black creative economy. If you are not familiar with The Mountain Dew Real Change Fund, the website explained that Mountain Dew’s parent company, PepsiCo, initiated a five-year, $400+ million plan. It is reportedly intended to uplift Black communities, strengthen Black business, and level the playing field for Black people in America. Five finalists from five HBCU’s were selected to advance to the final round of Mountain Dew’s Real Change Opportunity Fund Competition.
“In June, MTN DEW® is committed to fueling those who do and instigating real change,” information on the website explained. “As a first step, we have created the $1 Million Dollar, Real Change Opportunity Fund where we will help Black entrepreneurs who are current students or recent alumni from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), with existing PepsiCo relationships, turn seedlings of ideas into businesses or scale existing ventures.”
Entertainment journalist Gia Peppers hosted the third episode of Mountain Dew’s Real Change Opportunity Fund Competition. Eventnoire and other finalists competed to present their business ventures in a finale. Another statement explained that the Shark Tank-style contest was judged by DJ Envy of The Breakfast Club, Morgan DeBaun, and Lala Anthony. At the end of the YouTube video, Eventnoire was crowned the inaugural winner.
