Jamie Foxx Reportedly ‘Pulling Out’ Of TV Projects While ‘Struggling’ With His Health

Jamie Foxx might be showing off his athletic prowess, but insiders say the actor is "struggling" behind the scenes with his health.

Jamie Foxx might be showing off his athletic prowess in recent social media posts, but insiders say the actor is still “struggling” behind the scenes with his health.

Foxx remains on the road to recovery since coming out of the “medical emergency” that had him hospitalized in April. Since giving fans a health update on Instagram in July, the Academy Award-winning actor has made a slow return to social media.

He recently shared a video showing his ability to throw a football into a basketball hoop from the far end of the court. He’s also been promoting his new film, The Burial, with Tommy Lee Jones, and mourning the loss of his friend Keith Edwin, among other personal posts.

But sources say Foxx is still “struggling” with his health behind the scenes and has had to pull out of hosting a television show amid his recovery. Foxx was set to the game show We Are Family alongside his older daughter, Corinne Foxx. But the gig has since been taken on by Anthony Anderson and his mother, Doris Bowman.

Insiders claim it’s a sign of Foxx still being on the mend since suffering from his still unknown medical emergency.

“Jamie pulling out of another project has friends worried that he hasn’t recuperated as well as everyone thinks,” an insider told the National Enquirer, via Radar Online. “He’s struggling, but Jamie has been very private about what happened and his recovery.”

While Foxx is releasing films that were shot prior to the health scare, hosting a regularly occurring game show is too much for his current state, according to reports.

“In the end, Jamie wasn’t ready to add hosting a new game show to his schedule,” the source added. “He’s being very careful regarding his health issues. He may not be at 100 percent, but the last thing he wants is to mess with the progress he has made.”

It’s said that his daughter Corinne “is disappointed” the show won’t happen but “she understands her dad had to put his health first,” insiders say. Meanwhile, Foxx is recovering, it’s just not to the point of doing too much too soon.

“Jamie hasn’t had any major setbacks recently, still he doesn’t want to overdo it,” the source said. “He feels better than he has in months — and he owes that to ongoing physical therapy.

“Jamie doesn’t want to risk anything if he doesn’t have to,” they continued. “He’s got a birthday coming up on December 13 and says he wants to celebrate many more.”

Hate Crime At Kansas School Leaves Black Student Hospitalized Yet Still Suspended

A hate crime at Shawnee Mission East High School in Kansas has left a Black student hospitalized yet still facing consequences for defending herself.

A racial attack at a high school in Kansas has left a Black teenager attacked and hospitalized but somehow suspended—despite being the victim in the incident.

Shawnee Mission East High School is under fire for its unjust suspension of the student, known to the public as Bre, who a white male classmate verbally and physically assaulted.

The November altercation, which was captured on video, saw Bre confronting a white female student who referred to Black people as enslaved people and other slurs. According to the video from the Kansas City Defender, as the girl and Bre ended their tense discussion, a male aggressor came forward, telling the high-schooler to “shut the f-ck up.”

After she asked what he said, he can be seen attacking Bre while calling her the n-word.

Bre was subsequently taken to the hospital for a broken nose. Although the unidentified male student has been suspended, Bre also faced disciplinary action for her involvement. However, the treatment of Bre by the school district has resulted in walkouts by its student body and an outcry for justice from the community.

The school’s administration released a statement on the issue yet refused to identify the matter as a hate crime.

“As a school and a community, we know that in order for students to learn, they must first feel safe and supported,” the statement read. “Shawnee Mission East teachers, administrators, and staff will continue to do our absolute best to help every student who enters our school feel safe and supported so they can be at their very best…the words we use matter. Racially charged language, insults, and slurs will not be tolerated in our school…”

However, according to The Kansas City Defender, students believe the suspension of the white student is not severe enough given the magnitude of the issue, especially when he and the victim are given similar punishments. As the school’s code of conduct does not explicitly state that the use of racial slurs is an offense, the vague interpretation of the rules allows for leeway in punishment.

According to the students, treating the issue as a non-racialized physical fight undermines the severity of the offensive language and the discomfort students of color now feel in the educational environment, especially as the school’s population consists of 83% white students.

However, the teenagers are protesting against this instance of systemic racism, staging their walkout to advocate for stricter rules on racist incidents, expulsion for the white male student, and changes at the administrative level.

The situation is not an isolated occurrence, with others noting the racial profiling happening in the hallways by teachers and their principal, Jason Peres, according to the Kansas City Star.

2 Daughters Jump From 5th Story Window After Apartment Set On Fire

2 Daughters Jump From 5th Story Window After Apartment Set On Fire

An apartment fire on Nov. 14 in Detroit's New Center neighborhood became a backdrop for several acts of courage.

A Nov. 14 apartment fire in Detroit’s New Center neighborhood prompted two girls to jump from the window of their fifth-story apartment to escape harm, FOX 2 reports.

A 14-year-old girl leaped to safety, breaking both ankles and one wrist. Her younger sister, just 8 years old, followed suit, miraculously escaping unharmed. Neighbors used a mattress and their bodies to cushion the sisters’ fall, providing a lifeline for the two sisters. Firefighters later rescued the girls’ mother by using a ladder.

Commissioner Charles Simms of the Detroit Fire Department commended the community’s remarkable response, emphasizing the instinctive courage displayed.

“You know some people don’t need the attention or the accolades, but we want to show them that not only are firefighters, EMTs and police officers are heroes, but even citizens out there in the neighborhood – they’re heroes as well,” Simms said.

The teenage girl, who was wrapped up in a neighbor’s sweatshirt before she was helped, is expected to fully recover. “Many times people who try to jump out windows that high – it’s a different outcome,” Simms said.

According to investigators, the fire was allegedly set by 43-year-old Marion Scruggs of Detroit. Scruggs, who has a history of domestic violence, was revealed to have been in a past relationship with the mother of the two girls. Security cameras captured him dousing the apartment door with gasoline, lighting a cigarette, and initiating the fire before fleeing the scene.

“This person tried to kill not just the whole family, but any and everybody that was in that building,” Detroit Police Chief James White said.

Scruggs was apprehended by Detroit police within 24 hours of the incident. In 2019, he faced charges related to purposely setting a girlfriend’s home on fire, resulting in the death of a pet.

Allyson Felix Reveals Baby No. 2 Is Under Way  After Challenging The Sports Industry During Her First Pregnancy

Allyson Felix and her husband, Kenneth Ferguson, announced they are expecting a boy in April.

Retired American track and field star Allyson Felix announced Nov. 22 that she is expecting baby number two.

“Thanksgiving blessings! Adding a little more love to our family. #PartyofFour #BabyOnBoard,” Felix captioned an Instagram slideshow of photos showing off her baby bump. The former Olympian is all smiles in a bold, red dress as she stands with her husband, Kenneth Ferguson, and 4-year-old daughter, Camryn.

In one photo, Camryn holds a sign that reads, “BABY BROTHER COMING APRIL 2024” in front of her parents. In another, she kisses Felix’s baby bump as the track star smiles.

Ferguson also took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his followers.

“It still doesn’t feel real to say this, but we couldn’t be more excited to say… that we have a baby boy on the way,” the former track and field athlete posted along with photos, including Ferguson and Felix wearing matching caps with the words “Mom” and “Dad.”

Earlier this year, Felix spoke about how motherhood has inspired her.

“Motherhood is the thing that has touched me the most, really normalizing mothers in sport and women not having to choose between that part of life and staying in their professions,” she told ESPN in a June 23 feature. “Becoming a mother and looking at my daughter and the world she’ll grow up in helped me find my voice and speak on some things I would’ve shied away from before.”

The athlete has also become an advocate for the Black maternal health crisis. Felix voiced her concerns about the issue following the death of Olympic teammate Tori Bowie due to pregnancy complications.

“We must see this clearly for what it is—a maternal health crisis. That is why we must continue to fight to protect the lives of every woman and every mother in our nation,” Felix wrote at the time.

She continues to pursue her advocacy for women with her footwear brand, Saysh, a project that has become the first-ever to offer maternity returns.

Here’s What You Need To Know Before Investing In Rental Property

For potential investors who have good credit, savings, and a dose of patience, the time is ripe for being a landlord.

*Originally Published Oct. 15, 2009

For potential investors who have good credit, savings, and a dose of patience, the time is ripe for being a landlord. Like many potential real estate investors these days, you may be worried that the national trend toward declining property values might crimp your ability to draw income from rental property.

The housing bust, however, is actually working in favor of new landlords on two important fronts. First, as everyone knows, homes are getting less expensive. Since prices reached a high in the summer of 2006, average prices for homes of all kinds–single family, multi-family, condominiums, and the like–have fallen 22.8%, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

At the same time, however, because many consumers are skittish about becoming homeowners in the current environment, apartments and other rental properties have remained in high demand. As a result, national average rents have been steadily increasing, seeing rises of 4.1%, 3.1%, and 2.9% in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Average rents are expected to decline roughly 1.5% in 2009, then increase less than 1% in 2010, according to NAR projections.

All told, those numbers paint a rosy landscape for potential landlords. But, as with any major purchase, the first step is to investigate your purchase before jumping in.

Experts say there are a number of things to consider when buying investment real estate:

Determine how much you can afford to invest. Get pre-approved by a financial institution that has worked with investors.

Know your criteria. Find out what types of properties rent best in the area you want to invest, whether it’s a townhome, condo, single family home, two bedrooms, or three bedrooms.

Pick the right agent. Select a real estate agent who has experience working with landlords. They’re best equipped to help you identify properties that meet your goals.

After Public Dispute Goes Viral, T.I. Sticks With Son King Harris

T.I. and King Harris were seen arguing at recent Atlanta Falcons game

It seems like there is always something exciting and/or newsworthy going on with the Harris family, headed by recording artists and reality TV stars, rapper T.I. and his wife, R&B singer Tiny.

The latest episode: an argument that went viral between the parents and their son, King Harris, who is no stranger to controversy, at an Atlanta Falcons game in Atlanta.

The two took to Instagram to show that despite the recent incident the two will always have each other’s back, as T.I. wrote, “Ima RIDE to da heavens or da depths of HELL bout my Jr.& ain’t nothing gon change that.”

In the original video clip, the two have a friendly debate that exposes King’s lack of knowledge of some hip-hop legends.

But, before that, King filmed himself while going back and forth with his parents while they were in a suite at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Nov. 6. The argument ensued after T.I. explained that King, 19, has lived a good life compared to how he grew up.

“King, have you ever woke up with a roach on your face?” T.I. boomed. “Alright then! You don’t know what you talking ’bout!”

“To make him look better, he say sh** that he know not true,” King said. “Silver spoon? I ain’t never ate with that a day in my life.”

As they continued to go back and forth, his mother threw a jab at King, saying he stayed at his grandmother’s house because he used to cry “like a baby,” and that King’s grandmother would let him “suck a pacifier until he was 12 years old.”

Eventually, T.I. grabbed King and said, “You are embarrassing yourself and your family! Boy, you can’t do nothing with me! Ain’t sh*t you can do with me!”

Now it looks like everything is back to normal as father and son posted the latest episode of their Complex show, #GOATTalk, to their individual Instagram profiles. In this clip, they discuss certain rappers, with King shocked that Will Smith was actually a rapper before making it big as an actor.

Uncle Luke Denies Gloria Velez’s Grooming Claims He Only ‘Groomed’ People ‘To Be Great’

Uncle Luke is denying Gloria Velez's claims of being groomed by the rapper back when she was still in high school.

Uncle Luke is denying Gloria Velez’s claims of being groomed by the rapper back when she was still in high school.

The slew of sexual assault lawsuits filed in recent weeks has the streets talking, especially the hip-hop streets. With Diddy being on the receiving end of three lawsuits, the hip-hop mogul is under fire as countless allegations continue to surface online.

One lawsuit involves Diddy and New Jack Swing-era singer Aaron Hall for allegedly taking turns sexually assaulting two young ladies back in 1990 or 1991, Rolling Stone reports. Amid the suit, allegations against Hall have come to focus including one past interview where he reveals how he met his ex and mother of his child, Gloria Velez.

In the interview, Hall admits to having met Velez through Uncle Luke, whom she was hanging out with. Now, amid the resurfaced claims, Velez hopped online to add clarity on how young she was when she was hanging around Uncle Luke and Aaron Hall.

According to Velez, not only was she still in high school, but she claimed “grooming” was taking place that started with Uncle Luke.

“If you don’t think grooming is happening in this business you’re sadly mistaken,” she wrote. “It’s started 1994 with Luke and a few others in this business. I was in high school.”

But Luke isn’t taking the allegations lightly and hopped online to warn Velez to keep his name out of her mouth of risk a defamation lawsuit.

“No no no Luke don’t get down like that baby,” he wrote in a post shared online. “Convention on your baby daddy before you get a defamation lawsuit.”

He followed up with a video message where he claimed to have paperwork on people he hired who were underage. He also says he only “groomed” people “to be great.”

“I don’t play bout that paperwork,” he exclaimed. “Make it make sense.”

Dr. Steve Perry Severs Charter School Ties With Diddy Quite Expeditiously After Sexual Assault Accusations

Dr. Steve Perry: "A decision has been made to end the partnership between Capital Preparatory Schools and Sean Combs”

After news of Macy’s phasing out Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Sean John fashion line from its stores and then the announcement of Combs stepping down from his role at Revolt, another entity has decided to sever ties with the embattled entertainment mogul.

Amid Combs’ allegations of sexual allegations by three different women, Dr. Steve Perry, the founder of Capital Preparatory Schools, ended the partnership between the school and Diddy. “While this decision was not made lightly, we firmly believe it is in the best interest of our organization’s health and future,” Perry said in a statement.

The recent spate of bad news for the Combs Global CEO has taken place after his former girlfriend and R&B artist, Cassie, filed a lawsuit accusing him of various indiscretions, including sexual assault. After settling the lawsuit 24 hours later, two other women came forward as apart of the New York Adult Survivors Act and filed suits against Diddy. Both women alleged Diddy sexual assaulted them in 1990 and 1991.

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, Revolt TV posted the news of Diddy stepping down on the company’s Instagram account.

“While Mr. Combs has previously had no operational or day-to-day role in the business, this decision helps to ensure that Revolt remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora,” the statement read.

Sheila Jackson Lee Still Trails John Whitmire Ahead Of Houston Runoff

Houston mayoral candidate Sheila Jackson Lee trails John Whitmire by the same percentage that she did at the conclusion of their general election earlier in November

According to a poll conducted by the Houston Chronicle, Houston mayoral candidate Sheila Jackson Lee trails competitor John Whitmire by the same percentage that she did at the conclusion of their general election in November.

Whitmire and Jackson Lee, who has represented Texas’s 18th congressional district since 1995, sparred in their opening runoff debate about a number of topics. Whitmire, in addition to taking aim at corruption allegations surrounding outgoing Mayor Sylvester Turner, focused on his desire to be a transparent leader.

Jackson Lee was critical of Whitmire’s record in the Texas Senate, drawing attention to his connection to lobbyists as well as criticism of incarceration rates for Black and Latino Texans under Whitmire’s leadership.

On Nov. 27, Jackson Lee received an endorsement from former President Bill Clinton.

Clinton’s statement backs her advocacy for infrastructure, economic development, and resident prosperity.

“Sheila Jackson Lee has been a tireless advocate for Houston’s infrastructure, economic development, and prosperity for residents of all background,” Clinton said. “I’m proud to endorse her to serve as Houston’s next mayor—make sure you have a plan to vote and bring your friends on Saturday, December 9th.”

Jackson Lee does have some room to maneuver as over 20% of voters in the mayoral runoff are undecided, but given the time until the runoff, getting those voters on her side will be difficult.

According to Brandon Rottinghaus, a political science professor at the University of Houston, and a co-author of the poll, “It’s not completely insurmountable, but it is really a challenge in a municipal election when you’ve got to juice up turnout, and that’s always a hard thing to do.”

Further complicating things for Jackson Lee, Whitmire has the advantage with voters who are more likely to vote, while Jackson Lee has the advantage with voters who are uncertain about voting in the election.

Whitmire holds strong advantages with white and Latino voters at 63 and 43 percent of those voters respectively, while Jackson Lee holds 63% of Black voters votes in projections. Of note, Whitmire is the preferred choice of Houston Republicans, while Jackson Lee has the support of the city’s Democrats. Most respondents to the poll characterized Jackson Lee as liberal or extremely liberal, while most characterized Whitmire as conservative or moderate.

Nonetheless, Rottinghaus said that the race ultimately will come down to how many voters participate in the election. “It still looks favorable for Whitmire, but some of these internal dynamics make it potentially a closer race than the top number indicates,” Rottinghaus said.

Dez Bryant Chastises Malika Andrews Over Not Immediately Reporting White NBA Player’s Alleged Relationship With A Minor

Dez Bryant Chastises Malika Andrews Over Not Immediately Reporting White NBA Player’s Alleged Relationship With A Minor

"You went out your way to crucify Brandon Miller on draft day over something he didn’t even do," Bryant wrote on X.

The NBA recently stated that it will investigate claims that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey, who is white, for allegedly having a relationship with an underage girl after photos of the pair circulated online.

For some people, the NBA didn’t act quickly enough while the media sat on this story for too long.

That includes former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who went on X (formerly known as Twitter) to lambast ESPN’s Malika Andrews, host of The NBA Today. His ire toward her is that she was quick to criticize a Black basketball player, Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets, who was sued for wrongful death although he wasn’t charged with a crime.

In his post, Bryant said Andrews “went out” of her “way to crucify Brandon Miller on draft day over something he didn’t even do.”

In his post, he also told her to not make it a “black or white” thing.

He posted the message Monday, Nov. 27. Another X user replied to his post that Andrews reported on Giddey’s travails on The NBA Today that day.

Bryant responded:

After responding to several people, the former Cowboys wide receiver then went 10 toes down to state that he will “forever” take the side of the athlete when it comes to journalism.

Andrews hasn’t publicly responded to Bryant’s accusation.
