Kendrick Lamar And Dave Free Launch ‘Project 3’ Full-Service Agency

Kendrick Lamar launches 'Project 3 Agency'; the agency is co-owned with the rapper's longtime creative partner, Dave Free.

Kendrick Lamar launches Project 3 Agency, a branch of Lamar’s parent company, pgLang. The agency was started in conjunction with the rapper’s longtime creative partner and manager, Dave Free.

Project 3 is described as a full-service creative firm. Creatives will receive guidance and services in branding, content production, design, and strategy. The services are offered to both corporations and independents. Inspiration for the name, Project 3, reflects the trio of storytelling phases.

The new agency is designed to give opportunities to artists and creatives beyond their personal network. Those who have worked with Lamar and Free say that the new venture is less about hype and more about laying foundations for long‑term creative work. In an interview with Fast Company, Free discussed the work put into building Project 3.

Initially, the duo hoped that pgLang would be able to provide the “at service” experience. Unfortunately, the infrastructure was not in place.

“For us, it was like, how do we build foundational structures for the business so [we] can last long term versus trying to do too much at once and being bogged down,” said Free. “And as we developed, we didn’t want to alienate ourselves from commercial business. We wanted to figure out a way to walk hand in hand with these companies and give them information, but also learn as we’re working with [them].”

July 31, Project 3 dropped a short video on YouTube as a teaser for the company.

He added that they wanted to work alongside brands in a mutually educational way. Project 3 Agency officially began after pgLang acquired Frosty, an internationally recognized creative studio with a global team of 30, which had partnered with Lamar’s team on numerous projects.

Under pgLang, Lamar and Free have earned six Cannes Lions awards, including Independent Agency of the Year in 2023. Their portfolio includes work with brands such as Chanel, Calvin Klein, Gatorade, and Cash App, along with headline production, including Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX performance.

Cornell Brown, a Project 3 executive, emphasized the team’s strength in blending cultural insight and visible impact.

“We have tentacles in so many places: touring, music, merchandising, art,” he said. “That gives us confidence in how we shape narratives for brands.”

Rather than chasing every opportunity, Lamar and Free are focusing on meaningful partnerships that respect storytelling and emotional depth. No specific clients have been announced yet.

Damon Dash Partially Fulfills Court-Mandated Order, Expects To Fully Comply In August

Dash's attorney reassures the court that he will be fully compliant by August 7

After being threatened with possible jail time for contempt for failing to comply with court orders, Damon Dash, the former CEO of Roc-A-Fella Records, has partially complied with the court’s order to provide filmmaker Josh Webber with financial documents related to the assets of his companies.

According to Complex, the Harlem businessman, owner of Poppington LLC, has “partially” complied with the court-ordered asset seizure ordered against him, in Josh Webber’s legal victory stemming from a copyright infringement/defamation lawsuit.

Webber filed a lawsuit against Dash after the duo had previously collaborated on a film, Dear Frank, with the partnership ending due to production disputes. Webber accused Dash of attempting to sell the film under a different name, and he falsely proclaimed himself to be the owner and director of the movie. Webber won the court battle and was awarded more than $800,000 in damages. Since Dash did not satisfy the debt, the judge in the case ordered the former Roc-A-Fella Records boss to hand over full ownership of his businesses and various movie titles.

Before the court-ordered deadline of July 31, Webber’s attorney informed the court that, although Dash had complied partly, he did not provide “the necessary copyrights/films to be given to the US Marshal.” The attorney stated that Dash’s attorney, Natraj Bhushan, has reassured them that they will be in possession of the outstanding ownership certificates no later than Aug. 7.

“Attorney Bhushan has indicated that links or digital copies of the films/copyrights will be provided by the close of business on August 7, 2025 for the films (1) Honor Up and (2) Too Honorable, and will provide copies of requests to the United States Copyright Office for depository copies of the remaining copyrights identified in the Assignment of Interest at Exhibit A, before August 7, 2025.”

Since Dash handed in some of the legal paperwork on July 30, Webber’s attorneys asked that the court cancel the Order to Show Cause hearing that was previously scheduled for July 31. They anticipate receiving the necessary documents from Dash by Aug. 8.

A post shared by Tyler Perry (@tylerperry)

“Thank ya! But if it’s not the original cast, Tyler, we don’t want it,”  an Instagrammer wrote.

It seems fans might get what they want, as Perry tagged cast members from the first two films in his post, suggesting that the group will reunite for the third installment. Several commenters expressed interest in appearing in the upcoming movie, including actress Yvette Nicole Brown.

“Does somebody need a funny, opinionated, or nosy sister?! Just saying…. @missjillscott or @janetjackson might! C’mon man! We talked about exactly this!” Brown commented.

Perry was less optimistic about a third installment of Why Did I Get Married? When he appeared on Sherri in December 2024, Perry told host Sherri Shepard that he considered rebooting the film, but it was unlikely to happen due to scheduling conflicts and other commitments from the original cast.

Tasha Smith, who played Angela in the first two installments of the series, echoed Perry’s sentiments when she appeared on The Breakfast Club in April. When asked about the possibility of a film, Smith said that it was unlikely but believed there was a solution.

“Tyler takes what, three days to do a movie? Who ain’t got a weekend, Tyler? I mean, like seriously. Who ain’t got a weekend? Don’t get me started,” she said.

Well, it seems like the stars and their schedules might be aligned. Perry didn’t give any details about production or a possible release date, but we’ll be waiting.

Aliyah Boston, Candace Parker Team Up To ‘Post Moves’ In Podcast Arena

The duo will discuss topics that will include basketball, life, and whatever else comes to mind

Current WNBA player Aliyah Boston and former WNBA MVP Candace Parker have linked up to launch a new podcast titled Post Moves.

AMP Media has announced that the two basketball players will be discussing various topics that will include basketball, life, and whatever else comes to mind between them. The title refers to certain moves on the basketball court that happen around the “post.”

https://twitter.com/PostMovesShow/status/1951109837611311534

“Getting to do this podcast with Candace is a dream. She’s not only a great friend, but she’s someone I’ve long admired — not just for what she’s done in the game, but for how she carries herself off the court,” Aliyah Boston said in a written statement. “Post Moves is just us being ourselves and talking hoops, life, and whatever else is on our mind. It’s fun and it’s honest and I’m excited for people to hear us laugh, learn, and lift each other up.”

Episodes of the podcast will premiere weekly on Wednesday on YouTube and streaming platforms like Apple and Spotify. There will be bonus clips and exclusive content seen across various digital and social media platforms.

“I’m so excited to launch our new podcast, where Aliyah and I team up to go beyond the headlines, shine a light on uplifting voices, and really dig into the stories that matter-on and off the court,” said Candace Parker. “We come from different generations, and that makes our conversations even richer. Aliyah brings fresh energy and endless curiosity, while I bring my years of experience and a big-picture view of how the game—and the world around it—has evolved. We’re ready to spark real talk, share some laughs, and create something that informs, inspires, and connects. We can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

The first show debuted July 30.

Boston, who plays for the Indiana Fever, is a three-time WNBA All-Star and 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year. Parker, who has retired from the league, is a three-time WNBA champion, two-time league MVP, and Olympic Gold Medalist.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett Labels Trump As The ‘Temu Hitler’ Who Is Gerrymandering Texas To Save Face

Crockett discussed the President’s latest attempt to gerrymander the state with a proposed congressional map that will give Republicans the advantage over Democrats, picking up five seats in the 2026 midterms.

Texas Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett gave President Donald Trump a new nickname – “Temu Hitler” – while discussing his attempts to gerrymander the Lone Star State, discrediting the Black vote, in efforts to cover up his woes.

During an interview with Zerilina Maxwell of SiriusXM’s Mornings with Zerlina, Crockett discussed the President’s latest attempt to gerrymander the state with a proposed congressional map that will give Republicans the advantage over Democrats, picking up five seats in the 2026 midterms.

After Maxwell suggested to Crockett that elected officials are trying to “dilute the power of people to cast their ballot, have their ballot counted, and have their voices heard,” the outspoken lawmaker had time to speak her mind. “And so the only way that the Republicans who have decided that they are going to embrace an agenda of white supremacy, and this isn’t me exaggerating, this is me denoting how much the Proud Boys love them. This is me denoting that the neo-Nazis tend to side with them and hang out with them and support them,” Crockett said.

“They have decided that the only way that they can bring about this white supremacy agenda is by diluting the voices of people of color,” she continued. “And so what we have seen is, again, this rogue Department of Justice going out to do the bidding of this Temu Hitler. To the extent that he says, ‘listen, the only way that I can ensure that I will have no checks on me is if I can sure that those voices of color do not have representation.’”

Thoughts of powers being diluted are supported by the controversial conversations surrounding Trump being aligned with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, labeled as “a distraction” by other elected officials. Fellow Democratic leaders like Texas Rep. Al Green caught on to Trump’s antics of catering to himself not long after he was sworn in as the 47th president.

During a speech in early 2025, Green was escorted from the House chamber after vocally protesting the administration’s overtures regarding the elimination of Medicaid. The protest resulted in Green being censured, which Crockett celebrated as him not falling victim and refusing to bow down to the MAGA tribe. “And so this is why we see Al Green…who has been a loud and proud voice of dissent against this administration, literally to his face at the State of the Union,” she said.

“…And so Al Green, who has served in Congress for over two decades at this point, is now at risk of losing his seat because those people of color in that particular district, they may now be broken out and parsed apart so that they don’t have this consolidation and this ability to elect Al Green.” Republican efforts to dismantle predominantly Black voting districts have already been proven as successful in some states, including Florida and Louisiana. While Texas Governor Greg Abbott pledged his allegiance to the attempts, Green threatened to file a lawsuit to block them.

Similar attempts happened in the state of Alabama.

Dallas Mavericks’ Anthony Davis Lists Bel Air Mansion For $40M

The property sits on top of over 3.5 acres of land

Now that former Los Angeles Lakers player Anthony Davis has a full-time job in Dallas playing for the Mavericks, he has listed his L.A. mansion for sale.

According to TMZ Sports, the Bel Air mansion, which features eight bedrooms, has been listed at a sale price of $39,900,000. The size of the property is listed at 17,254 square feet.

https://twitter.com/TMZ_Sports/status/1951074717336518912

The listing of the Bel Air residence was posted by Jordan Cohen of RE/MAX ONE. For anyone who can spare $40 million, Cohen has placed a social media post of the mansion, along with several photos, to give an idea of what comes with the asking price.

The reimagined European property is in a gated community named appropriately, Bel Air Crest. The mansion sits on top of over 3.5 acres of land that is tucked away in privacy. The property has eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, and comes equipped with a theater, game room, lounge, wine cellar, gym, and hair salon/barber shop as amenities. Potential buyers will find that there is an Olympic-sized pool and spa, a tennis court with lights, and a batting cage for your sports and athletic needs.

The Mavericks center won an NBA championship with LeBron James in 2020. ESPN reported that he was traded in February, along with Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick, in exchange for former Mavericks players Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. For salary-matching purposes, the Jazz was included in the trade, as they received Jalen Hood-Schifino (from the Lakers), the L.A. Clippers’ 2025 second-round pick, and the Mavericks’ 2025 second-round selection.

Davis will be returning to the Mavericks after undergoing recent surgery to repair a detached retina in his eye that he suffered during the 2024-25 season.

Delta Releases Nike Air Force 1s For Employees In Celebration Of 100th Anniversary

Sorry, these kicks are for employees only.

Delta Airlines is celebrating its 100th anniversary by giving employees access to an exclusive pair of custom-designed Air Force 1 Lows.

Unveiled on July 30, the exclusive sneakers mark a special collaboration between Delta and Nike to celebrate the airline’s 100th anniversary, Sole Retriever reports. As stylish as they are, the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Delta 100th Anniversary” shoes are reserved solely for Delta employees and can only be purchased through an internal employee portal.

The design stays true to the classic all-white Air Force 1 style, accented with metallic silver Swooshes outlined in Delta’s signature blue. That same blue is used for the embroidered Nike Air branding on the heel, while a custom “Delta 100 Years” logo appears on the woven tongue tag. A red embroidered Delta logo adds a final touch on the lateral heel.

Sneakerheads expressed their love for the new kicks

“Does it come with pre-check and lounge access?” one Instagram user asked.

“Def gotta get a seat upgrade if you get on the flight with these on,” added another.

In March, Delta revealed a special design on its Airbus A321neo aircraft, created by Delta employee Aaliyah McNeal. The celebratory livery, unveiled at the newly renovated Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta, features a distinctive swoosh in blue and silver tones and a large “100” emblem on the sides.

The unveiling marked the airline’s 100th anniversary. It was founded on March 2, 1925, as Huff Daland Dusters, Inc., the world’s first aerial crop-dusting company. Delta launched its first passenger flight in 1929 under the name Delta Air Service and officially became Delta Air Lines in 1945.

Delta has grown into one of the U.S. “Big Three” airlines and a globally recognized brand serving nearly 300 destinations across six continents.

BMX To XCEL Summit For Men: A History Of BLACK ENTERPRISE’s Coveted Men’s Event

BMX To XCEL Summit For Men: A History Of BLACK ENTERPRISE’s Coveted Men’s Event

BLACK ENTERPRISE's SVP, Alfred Edmond, talks about the evolution of EXCEL Summit For Men

As more Black leaders enter the C-suite, the need for mentorship, skill enhancement, and legacy building remains urgent. No one understands that better than Alfred Edmond Jr., senior vice president and executive editor at BLACK ENTERPRISE. Edmond spoke about the evolution of the XCEL Summit For Men, formerly known as Black Men XCEL.

The event went from a celebration inspired by BE’s Women of Power Summit to a growth exchange-centered conference for corporate men.

Although Edmond will not take full credit for the inception of XCEL Summit For Men, the concept began with his personal frustrations.

“I subscribed to GQ, then they pissed me off and I canceled the subscription. You rarely saw a sister in GQ. So, in 2015, it had a five-page spread featuring brown women in the imagery. You will never guess what this feature story was about…. a business feature about Magic City (the famed Atlanta strip club).”

Indignant and fed up with the state of Black representation, Edmond entered the BE offices and relayed his frustrations to his team. The need for better recognition for Black men was in line with the company’s mission: to shine a light on the best and brightest in the community. Subsequently, the conversation and frustration led to the BE Modern Man initiative. BE Modern Man was a content campaign that shone a spotlight on Black men making a positive impact in their communities.

“We crowdsourced people and asked them to nominate brothers in your community that you think are just doing amazing things,” Edmond said. “We had these criteria about them being fly, making an impact, and being valuable to their community. They could do anything, from ballet dancers to teachers.”

As the BE Modern Man kicked off, the Women of Power Summit was reaching its decade mark. Additionally, the company’s 25-year Golf and Tennis Labor Day event was nearing its sunset and creating space for a new venture.

“We pivoted away from golf and said, ‘let’s make this an event to celebrate Black men.’ That was the birth of Black Men XCEL. We invited all the BE Modern Men, and we put together programs to celebrate them from 2017 to 2019.”

The pandemic would change the way BE approached the Black Men XCEL Summit. Black women continued to make rapid strides in business, advancing their presence in boardrooms and entrepreneurship. Edmond, taking note of the growth, believed BE had a responsibility to create a space for Black men compatible with the Women of Power Summit.

“When we came out of the shutdown, we realized that it wasn’t enough just to do an event that generally celebrated Black men.”

2021 saw the return of Black Men XCEL in a digital format. Still, the vision had begun to shift toward tangible skills that would enable men to show up to the conference and leave with more value than when they arrived. The 2022 conference, held in Maryland, is where the current version of the XCEL Summit For Men conference began to take shape.

As passionate about the growth and representation of Black men as he was on the day of the GQ spread, Edmond and the BE team are steadily honing the professional offerings at the conference.

“[Participants] are getting both soft and hard skillsets. We are offering AI training, and we’re adding a profit-and-loss workshop this year. The higher you move up in corporate America, being able to say, ‘I understand and can manage profit and loss for a division’ that makes you more competitive.”

BE takes its responsibility to provide quality workshops, networking opportunities, and professional development seriously. However, Edmond says the most important part of the equation is Black men advocating for their needs.

Many companies claim to support the growth of minorities in their employ. However, Edmond contends this is where the “rubber meets the road.” Black men need to advocate for their professional growth. And companies should put their funding where their mouth is. The XCEL Summit For Men will benefit both employees and employers.

Join BE at the 9th annual XCEL Summit For Men from Oct. 15-17 at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Orlando. Visit the official event website for more information.

Megan Thee Stallion Wants Tory Lanez Sanctioned Over ‘Inflammatory’ Deposition

Megan Thee Stallion's legal team said Lanez's deposition quickly spiraled into 'bad faith' behavior.

Megan Thee Stallion is calling for Tory Lanez to be penalized after he refused to answer basic questions during what her legal team called an “inflammatory” deposition.

In the latest twist in Megan’s legal battle over the Tory Lanez shooting case, her lawyers are asking a judge to sanction Lanez for defying a court order tied to her $10 million defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Milagro Gramz, All Hip Hop reports.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was supposed to explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt after an April 9 deposition that Megan’s legal team said quickly spiraled into “bad faith” behavior.

Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence in California for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, was officially served with the court order but failed to respond by the April 30 deadline. With no hearing scheduled, Megan’s legal team filed a notice to push the process forward.

The “Savage” rapper is also requesting that Lanez be ordered to cover all legal fees tied to the deposition and pay for a special master to oversee any future testimony. If that’s denied, her team is asking the court to schedule a hearing as soon as possible.

Megan’s filing follows the April 9 deposition held via Zoom, where the defamed rapper reportedly became difficult when asked basic questions. At one point, he dismissed the attorney and commented on her hair.

“Your hair is distracting me. There’s a reason for what I am asking. Your hair is distracting me,” Lanez allegedly said. “She should have waited to wait for that hair dye. It is the wrong blonde.”

Lanez is also accused of making a sarcastic remark when asked to define the term “meet.” The Canadian rapper allegedly went off on a random tangent, asking the lawyer to define what they mean by “meet.”

“Meat could be a hot dog; meat could be a steak,” Lanez allegedly said.

The deposition stems from Megan’s defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Milagro, whom she accuses of spreading false claims about her mental health, truthfulness under oath, and alleged drug use in coordination with Lanez and his father, Sonstar Peterson.

The filing comes after Lanez was stabbed 14 times in a May prison attack that left him with collapsed lungs and injuries to his back, torso, head, and face.
